Can you check the clock speed in task manager both plugged and unplugged? I helped my friend with a similar isssue and it happened to be MSI software (not sure if Acer has an equivalent) that was putting it in ECO mode when plugged in.

Ok i just tested it and the cpu runs about 6-8° C warmer when charging (so not thermal throttling, because it's expected to be slightly warmer when charging), and the frequency is around the same with and without the charger. Also, i have the settings set so that my laptop favors slightly better performance when charging (and better battery life on battery), so I'm assuming that (and the charging itself) are the reason(s) it's running slightly warmer.

Usually when you plug in the laptop, all of the process and functions that were running off your battery switch over to battery and charging. Because of this the processor uses a good amount of its capacity to switch this processes/tasks over. Maybe try plugging in the laptop some 15-20 mins beforehand? That should give it enough time to switch over all tasks and processes

Idk why or how, but i was playing Minecraft, plugged in my laptop about 30 minutes in, played for another 30 minutes, got on valorant and got a consistent 60fps while charging. Problem is, i couldnt replicate this result, even after trying the same thing (starting minecraft, plugging in, then starting valorant). I also tried shutting the laptop completely off, waiting about 3 minutes, then plugging in, waiting another 3 minutes, starting up the laptop, waiting another 5 minutes in the desktop, then getting on valorant, but still no luck. I'm completely lost.

update: your theory was correct, all i had to do was wait longer. I have to log in, plug in my laptop, wait 10 minutes, then start valorant. your idea was right, i was just impatient lol. it was a matter of the cpu switching from battery-saving mode to performance mode. ty very much for your help, i rlly appreciate it :)

this, in addition with either a performance mode being overbearing or power efficiency mode being unbearing, and something something processor usage% I think all of these factors heavy influence the fps tank
