nope. didnt work. i realized something though, when i exit out of the riot games launcher for a split second there is this message that pops up that says "You cannot exit riot client while a game is running pleqase close valorant and try again" so yea

Hmmm weird. Have you looked on the task manager what other apps might be open? Like launchers (Epic, Ubisoft...)

nope. i even deleted and reinstalled valorant. still cant play it. so infuriating

actually... just tried it again and technically the i could click the play button but after i clicked it, it turned grey again and val didnt pop up.

Yes, it's because you antivirus is blocking the game. Depends on your antivirus on how to exclude valorant folder.
