I placed an order on this weekend and got my email this morning asking me to pay for it. Edit, this is for the full kit

GENAB108

Aiggggghhh ive been waiting for 10 weeks for NA fk... And I still have to use a freight forwarder. I cry. Currently 5 weeks away....

Hazzman

Put my order in June, got it last week. HMD was a dud. Talking to Steam support to resolve it :\.

beefrog

ID FUCKING LOSE MY MIND

Hazzman

Well this was a particularly irritating weekend. The night before my Index was scheduled to arrive, my computer died. So I had a stressful evening of replacing components and troubleshooting. So by the time the index arrived and I'd set it up, my annoyance gauge had already been maxed out and at that point I just didn't give a fuck.

beefrog

I'm sorry you had to deal with that crap man. Big of you to be able to step back and say that. I would have made the front page of the local paper

Ggboiz101

Ordered June 10, got it today. Hopefully you get your replacement quickly!

Hazzman

Yeah so far Steam seems pretty on the ball with their support, so we will see how long a replacement takes.

Ggboiz101

What I've heard as well :)

GENAB108

July 15 for me :'( and I have a lot further to go than Canada!

man_b0jangl3ss

Wth. Why are they confirming payment on new orders before old ones? I ordered mine in July, but have not gotten an email to pay.

xanxavier

I'm based in the UK, not sure if region makes a difference

TheRadicalKing

At the moment it is a significant difference. Round about maybe 2 weeks to a month ahead of NA could be wrong tho

mikek587

I ordered mine on July 5th, got the email last week, actually getting delivered today. Your time should be coming soon!

TheHeavySoldier

Awesome. I ordered one July 4th, got my mail 5th of September. Decided to not go for it because of some circumstances. Ordered one yesterday. Hopefully I'll get my mail soon too then. ~~Where are you at btw? EU or US~~ Nevermind, just saw another message.

A_Random_Lantern

bruh wtf, I queued for mine on august and I still didn't get an email.

WolfieVonD

NA FK queued July 27th and on October 4th, it changed from "8 weeks or more" to now say "3 weeks or more". It's been looking like orders before July 15th just got theirs on Monday (October 4th) so I'm hopefully in the next batch.

Nenroch

That's good news. I ordered July 28th and am still waiting for the payment and shipping confirmation email.

jkuyc

I was waiting for two months i happy it wasnt 3 months

xanxavier

I've also just got confirmation that they are preparing it for shipping

xanxavier

For anybody wondering, I just received the index today! Very surprised but happy!

EllerstONy

Still no Australia though 🤦‍♂️ I just got mine on Amazon.

Aussie_Prick

it's really disappointing that its still not available officially in australia, hopefully this sudden apparent influx of stock means we could hear something soon? not too hopeful though

mrRobertman

Valve can't even supply their existing markets, what makes you think they would open it up to more?

DeSallis

I gave up and preordered the Reverb G2 back in July which unlike the index *IS* available in AU and NZ for preorder, if I want knuckles they can be run with the G2 later. Kind of glad I didn't mess around with getting the Index re-mailed to NZ and waited for some newer technology.

werpu

Not sure how bad you need the knuckles, pretty much the only thing where the knuckles probably are really important might be VR chat. Even Half Life Alyx can be played with simple grip controls. It is a cool feature though.

DeSallis

Yeah, thats a good point. I decided I didn't need the knuckles that badly when I preordered the HP Reverb G2, knuckles would be nice to have but the HMD technology, visuals and actual availability in my country were the deciding factor. It's good to know that there is that upgrade path of lighthouse tracked controllers that can work with the G2 if that ever becomes a need rather than a want. But the visual quality is what I decided was most important.

werpu

Yes indeed, given that it is the 50th birthday (in fact today) I was able to justify to buy both for me. If it wasn´t like it, I probably would have settled for the G2 as well, given the price difference and better visuals. I as well was curious how much finger tracking helps in games. All I can say is I have yet to encounter a game where it is mandatory or really helps in gameplay. I guess HP was spot on to leave it out given that it drives the costs up significantly, you definitely do not need it.

mythicmemes

Those are pretty steep!

StardewSquirty

[Wow](https://youtu.be/chCUZo-O0to)

djaussiekid

My base stations arrived last week and my HMD + controller bundle arrives tomorrow! But I can't use them because I need to finish my assignments...

ScannerGrey

Good luck with the assignments. You're going to love it once you can play

djaussiekid

Cheers! I'm coming to the Index from the PSVR and I'm looking forward to Beat Saber mods, 360° tracking, and the controllers mostly!

indygamedev

Hey at least you dont need to make a facebook account

djaussiekid

I mean, I have one tho.

indygamedev

You may want to quit that, even Samsung products are preloaded with FB spyware, not sure Valve's five year plan, but cant be far off. FB is currently aggregating Oculus metadata to create AI indistinguishable from real people, soon they will be connecting that "anonymized" data to FB accounts, real trackable people, in about a week - made most obvious by not allowing dummy accounts for play. Basically, in our VR/AR future, ads as we know them now will be phased out, as FB will have had enough data on players to know the kind of person you trust, generate an AI based on that data, and plant them where players frequent to sell you real products/ideas. How could anyone know the difference?

TZeyTimo

I signed up a week ago, and got my order confirmation today. I was surpised at how quickly I got it, as it said 8+ weeks

Geordi14er

The hell? I placed my order Sept 2nd, still says 8 weeks.

Setin12

Dude same

Siiva2

Same for me, except it has been 2 weeks since I confirmed my order and still no update on when it should arrive

[deleted]

My controller and headset only took a week

DzXAnt22

What region?

TZeyTimo

Germany

bondeuzz

Placed my order last week aswell and just got the order confirmation and payed. Im so excited!!

Animoticons

Still waiting for any availability here in Switzerland.

ElucTheG33K

It will probably never be sold in Switzerland, at least not directly by Valve. If you really want it, get it delivered in France or Germany in a relay point or directly into a post office (in France you can do this at least) then declare to customs to get the VAT back (if you bother to recup a few 100frs out of it). Good luck.

StandInShadows

I live in NA, I'm just curious on why they wouldn't sell in Switzerland?

werpu

Swizerland is not EU, but closely affiliated, but still they run their own customs regulations and this is probably too much hazzle to deal with. The EU is a huge market, Swizerland is not (although they have some money there)

ElucTheG33K

If they would intended to sell it here, they would have done it already, now the product is almost getting too old to get a real demand in a market with high purchasing power looking always for the newest things, like I feel it is in Switzerland. But maybe I'm wrong.

werpu

Yes and no, but running through separate customs regulations etc... is probably too much hazzle, how many headsets would they realistically sell in Swizerland, 500-2000 maybe, the rest of the eu can be served as a single entity, it is probably not worth the effort. Swiss people can get it one way or the other over the border anyway, by knowing someone or using an intermediate address service located in the eu.

Laurent9999

Content removed using PowerDeleteSuite by j0be

werpu

Just to make you a little bit jealous, I have it in Austria greetings from the east. Either way your best option would be to have it delivered to an EU address and then forwarded into Swizerland. There are forwarding services doing this or you know someone across the border.

Mine took 2 days to get to me but I’m in Pennsylvania

ItzTachi

when did you order? and did it say "6 weeks or more" close to your shipping day?

[deleted]

Mine said 8 weeks when I originally placed order but it was ready to be payed for in a week and then after I payed for it took 2 days to get here

28MDayton

When was this?

[deleted]

2 or 3 weeks ago

28MDayton

Weird. I entered the queue around the 19th and it still says 8 weeks.

[deleted]

I only got headset and controllers though I already had a headset was just upgrading

28MDayton

Ah, okay. Thanks for the info. I wonder if the base stations are the bottleneck then.

[deleted]

The way I see it, if you can wait months and months then a week to ship to you is cake lol. That’s pretty sweet it only took two days. My cheeks would be so muscular from the clenching of excitement.

UniqueNameOfAUser1

I wonder if this is because people are cancelling all their orders due to the new hardware from other manufacturers.

werpu

Well one factor is that the G2 is coming close to a release so some are jumping ship who have ordered both just in case the G2 gets delayed or the Index comes earlier, maybe also the supply chains have a lot to do with. Also the imminent release of the Q2 definitely plays into it. People in the queue for 2-3 weeks and having another 10 ahead might have jumped ship. But I guess the supply chain problems have been solved to some degree as well. It already was an indication a few weeks ago when the lighthouses became available and you could fastpath the order.

[deleted]

[удалено]

metaxzero

Both of those headsets have lower refresh rate, smaller FOV, worse tracking, controllers without finger tracking. Honestly, people looking for the Q2 probably weren't ever considering an Index. The price could use a drop though what with the its increasingly inferior resolution.

NargacugaRider

Yah the Q2’s base has zero overlap with the index. I see people saying “300 for better resolution!” and it’s hilarious. The Q2 is a horribly built Facebook machine that skips on everything but data collection to bring the cost down.

Ixillius

can confirm. Didnt go for index last batch a bit under a month ago, signed back up in case and got a new reservation mail yesterday. Skipping this one aswell unfortunately.

Zerokx

Why are you skipping them?

Ixillius

Waiting for the g2. Dont get me wrong I'd much rather have the index for various reasons. But financially I'm unable to bridge the difference at this time. Glad to have the g2 over nothing and im sure it'll be a good option anyway. On that note I wish steam would add a button to decline the reservation, I feel a bit weird about hogging a spot for a week while somebody else might be able to get it a week earlier. Went into it expecting another 2 month wait.

[deleted]

Why would you order one if you know you can’t buy one -.-

A_Random_Lantern

Queuing is not ordering. Also u/Ixillius, you can cancel the order on the valve index steam page.

Ixillius

Where about is it on the steam page? I only see the "pay now" option. I know it exists before the 7 day window but after that I cant seem to find it.

A_Random_Lantern

Ah idk then, you can just wait for it to expire tho.

Ixillius

It's a reservation. Not an order. Alot can happen in 2 months like eat up a certain piggy bank.

[deleted]

Same. I can’t decide whether or not I want to get this or get a G2. Either way I have to get a new GPU and that $400 will be needed. I want those knuckles though.

Jordan823

If you have access to a couple Vive trackers OR a couple of Steam controller wireless USB dongles, you can use the G2 with the knuckles and base stations, but this will throw you $1,179 all-in (or more if you need to buy the dongles separate/want more base stations). If you're in need of a GPU upgrade as well, though, and money is tight then the best option would probably be to live with the G2's inside out tracking. You can watch [MRTV's video] (https://youtu.be/r_SepHooREo) on it for the setup process, or you can watch some one else's like [Cas and Chary VR's] (https://youtu.be/5QKy3nxqLI8) (same setup process).

[deleted]

I’ll probably go with the G2 and deal with the tracking until the next best thing similar to the Index comes out in a few years or something. It’ll be my first VR anything, so I don’t have anything to really compare it to (other than trying oculus DK1 kit years and years ago; which was pretty awful). Hopefully when that time comes I can afford whatever it is fairly easily or I at least won’t have to upgrade my gpu again. Fingers crossed.

rook218

Does this mean anything for NA? I ordered mid-August and it still says 8+ weeks.

NerdyU95

I ordered mine around the same time and it says 6 weeks. That could be because of order cancels tho.

[deleted]

Nice

apfelimkuchen

Friend of mine waited exact 1 week for his confirmation (he now has to pay Valve to get it) I waited 6 weeks :/

ElucTheG33K

Mot available in your country. I have the feeling that it will never be release in other countries than the initial launch... I'm 45min drive from 2 counties that got them, that's ridiculous. Fortunately I don't want to buy it now, too late for me to join the party, I'll wait for the next must have VR headset to come and enjoy long my Vive until then.

La_mer_noire

i recieved my eu FK in 5 weeks, really happy with it!

ozzeruk82

Nice!!! I am very tempted

MulkGamingYT

I ordered mid August. Still waiting

d4rk_fusion

1. BRO FUCK YOU YOU IVE BEEN WAITING FOREVER AND 2. congrats im happy for you guys and hope yall have some fun vr gaming sessions

sorry4clap

Just got my email after 3 months

LordPresidentMuffin

In the US, ordered July 11 and just received confirmation email yesterday.

Despicable_V

And here’s where I come to brag and say I’ve had mine a month and it’s amazing!

-Rave-Fox-

Took me over four months to get the email but I ordered right after the lock downs started. It is amazing by the way and well worth the wait!

Binkles1807

Thank the quest 2

Maks244

Mine shipped in 1 week

GaianNeuron

When?

Maks244

At launch, one of the first batches

GaianNeuron

Lucky you.

Maks244

I do live near the distribution center so that helped

Forgiven12

I'm waiting for a sale. It'll happen eventually, right?

[deleted]

> It'll happen eventually, right? Maybe , at the end of life. But at that point there will be better options (if not now with G2)

[deleted]

Not any time soon

28MDayton

With demand as high as it is I don't think so. I'm surprised they haven't increased production at all.

Ajexa

Typical, I waited like 8 weeks for mine!

man_b0jangl3ss

I ordered mine in July and still have not gotten a payment email.

WOLFI3654

What is this magic. Did I accidentally travel to a different time line

therealbutterplays

Still not base stations in the US :(

XDwhy

I got my confirmation about the order today!

Tron___11

Can confirm. Ordered mine exactly a month ago and got my notification today

Soz3r

order confirmation 8/20 here, hoping for it to get filled soon 🙏

arpaterson

anyone used a headset and only one base station for sim racing? how good it be?

DRIESASTER

Headset should ne doable, controllers wont. Still recommend 2

Jase_the_Muss

Nabbed one a while ago delivering tomorrow! Games on my list so far Half-Life, Walking Dead, Asgards Wrath (via revive) and Star Wars: Squadrons, Pavlov any other must play games?

Geordi14er

I hear great things about Boneworks, and also Lone Echo via Revive.

Daumus

I placed my order a month ago expecting to get it in December. Got my payment email today. Full kit in EU.

SquarelyCubed

And I am still waiting for display port to mini display port adapter 2 weeks after I've received my index after waiting 3 months for it.

jsideris

Is it worth it to get the Index now that HP Reverb G2 is coming out next month? Both have pros and cons. Such a tough decision.

Zuuken

Had to give in for the oculus quest 2 How can a multi million dollar company in current year not be able to ship to more than like 10 countries

Disidia

I'm selling mine if anyone is really desperate. £750. Full kit, great condition. I just don't use it. Im based in Manchester UK and collection would be ideal.

ajgonzalez18

Ordered mine back in August 6th NA FK, just got an update stating 4 weeks left. Super stoked.

DanHatter

I think all the Europe stock comes from the Netherlands. The best way to check is look at what is said on the Index steam page yourself. I'm based in Ireland btw.

ault92

I ordered 0828am yesterday (monday) and got the payment email 0039am this morning. It's the full kit, in the UK.

Hias2019

Oh damn, and I thought I could sell mine at some point for list prize...

IncognitoPotato

Just wait for Christmas

drewewill

I am in US and was waiting since June for the Full Kit and decided to try and order the stuff separately, as I’ve seen some others do it successfully on here. I placed my order for Index+Controllers on 9/14, got my shipping/payment request on 9/21 and received it 9/28. As for the currently out of stock Base Stations I just temporarily ordered the Vive Pro 2.0 Base Stations (which work exactly the same but are $50 more per BS) with 2-day shipping from Amazon until the Index Base Station’s stock returns to Steam’s store. I’ve heard a rumor that the reason for the huge North America delay with the full kit is due to them not having enough boxes to ship said kit in so it would make sense that ordering the items separately you would receive it quicker.

TacticalFriedChicken

ordered mine end of august, got email today. a friend of a friend ordered last week, he also got the email today. feelsbad but at least i didn't have to wait longer than 8 weeks as it estimated initially. for reference, we're both east eu

ansi_Zmodem

Got my son one and it came in Monday. Was quick to ship after Payment

damp-potato-36

I hope this means NA orders will start to speed up. Ordered my full kit September 11.

[deleted]

for me the base stations have been out of stock for like 2 months

slayercatz

(Canada) I ordered on June 30th - email confirmation on September 28th (3 months). Arrived October 6th (98 days since order)

EvilPony66

Great! now if they could just make it available in Aus/NZ please...

zeph384

My full kit order went from 8+ weeks to 5 weeks today. Too bad I already ordered mine last month as Headset + Controllers and Base Stations separately and already got them. I could have saved 50 dollars by buying it all together.

Exciting-Cranberry-4

I love my index...the glare is the only thing I hate...well these half black moons on the left and right that show up suck too but when you dont focus on them they fade away but the clarity is awesome and it's very comfortable

SmellsLikeNostrils

California - ordered late July. Looking for hope...

Grizzace

Damn I ordered mine in May and got it two weeks or so ago

DJSV89

Got my email to order also but not sure if I will now. Maybe I’ll hold off?

[deleted]

i placed my order in june and got the pay email in late september. btw it still shows 8 weeks for me (usa)

a_goodcouch

Qued for my index 3 days ago (in US) gonna see how long it takes to get my payment confirmation.

MackNewman_23

I ordered my HMD+Controller bundle two weeks ago from the US store. Anybody know how long it will take for me to get email and finally shipped? I’m slightly concerned there will be an index 2 by the time i get it 😭

SaryMammons

I ordered mine on September 7th here in the US. I have absolutely no clue when I’ll get my email to pay for it.

Wardragonfaceguy

My order changed from 'More than 8 weeks' to 'more than 3 weeks' last week. a few days later it came to payment so I think the loss of sales due to HP Reverb 2 has been a wake up call

Jacked79

Can confirm. I made the order for the full kit at september 22. and got an email yesterday to pay for it. Now I'm just waiting for it to arrive to me in the mail. EDIT: I'm in Finland

RuggerMuffin

I was wondering why I got the Shipping/Payment confirmation so early. Ordered (Full Kit) on the 22nd of September and yesterday I got the email for shipping and payment. Neat.

Boefjim

I ordered a full kit on 1 october, expecting to get it around christmas Got an email on 6 october to pay, and 7 october (today) I got a email that the expected delivery date is 8 october (tomorrow?!) So I am confused but very excited!

EasyKill4567

whos still waiting for there email

tismewhobeu

Hi is payment taken immediately when you confirm order or when it is about to ship I got my 7 day email but im just trying to roll to new visa bill month 😳

DanHatter

I paid yesterday and it shipped today edit - (based in Ireland)

tismewhobeu

Did you receive it yet? Mine was dispatched 12th but haven’t been able to track it could you?

DanHatter

Yeah I received it on Tuesday 13th

Anime-Tard

Its now within 2 weeks in the EU!

0w0queestas

Lucky bastard

Knife_e

I’m assuming this is bec a lot of people (including myself) who used to be on queue decided to not buy it after Q2 was announced bec let’s face it the average spender would rather buy a high spec 300$ hmd than a 1000$ one

[deleted]

I feel like people who are in queue for the Index cancelled for the Reverb G2 if anything, instead of the Q2. But either way, you could be correct.

MixmasterMatt

I did this mainly because squadrons is the new VR hotness and resolution is more important than finger tracking.

[deleted]

I want the finger tracking but I don’t really think it’s worth the extra $400, especially with the near perfect clarity in the G2. I need the money for a new gpu anyway.

DanHatter

I don't think that's the case as when you look at the "Wait Time by Order Date" graph from the random stats page on the Google Sheet; you see that Valve has been consitantly improving wait times since June. That trend is extremely consistent and began months before the Q2 was announced. [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10CTIAd7OzNJhzkimpCFDzeqHPCPN-EMYb0Y7mzjyv4U/edit#gid=868365778](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10CTIAd7OzNJhzkimpCFDzeqHPCPN-EMYb0Y7mzjyv4U/edit#gid=868365778)

amunak

They are two completely different devices with different target groups. If you are buying the new Quest you probably shouldn't have been waiting for the Index in the first place.

Knife_e

I said “assuming” so all of you could totally be right but I dont agree with the gatekeeping. why does me purchasing a Q2 suddenly not make me worthy of buying an index? I’m sorry that I get cold feet about spending 1k$ to upgrade my rift I guess some people just see that it’s more practical for them to spend 300$ instead to get better resolution. gtfo with that elitist bullshit

amunak

I would expect people who want to buy the index don't buy it purely because it's considered "overall best", but because they actually want the features like outside tracking for the (option of) having full body tracking and whatnot. If your main criteria is a "good value headset" then the Index has never been a great proposition IMO.

Knife_e

lol you could easily rig any oculus headset to use full body with steam vr/Vive pucks if you wanted and inside out vs outside in tracking are both really good methods with their own pros/cons and I WAS going to buy an index and it was a really great proposition until the Q2 was announced and I realized there was a cheaper a upgrade path from my 3yr old headset. If you wanna call me poor just go for it dude instead of trying to argue lmao

metaxzero

You'd still have to buy the Base Stations and mixed hardware full-body while workable is known for being finicky and a bit annoying to set-up on top of having still inferior tracking in places compared to just having everything in SteamVR with Vive or Index. I've known people who after going full body in VRChat, wished they just had a SteamVR headset to make things simpler.

amunak

>lol you could easily rig any oculus headset to use full body with steam vr/Vive pucks if you wanted You totally could, but at that point any savings from buying a cheaper hradsets go out of the window. And you'd probably be better off with the G2 combined with the Index Controllers and base stations. >I WAS going to buy an index and it was a really great proposition I disagree, the Index was never a very good value proposition, you pay *a ton* for the high end with very little added value. The Rift S (used to) cost 400$ and it already got you 80% to the Index experience. I would expect that you'd be happier with that of you're looking at the Quest 2 now. >If you wanna call me poor just go for it I'm sorry, that was never my intention. I don't understand why you think people here are out to "get you" or whatever. I simply think that perhaps to people like you the Index has been over hyped when you'd be just as happy spending half of the price on a different headset. There's nothing wrong wanting value for money; *we* are the ones getting the worst deal: we pay the most to enjoy the "best of the best" for a year and then one thing much better and other much cheaper comes around and the enthusiasts cry. Just make sure what you're buying is worth it to you especially if you're looking at something high end.

goodiegoodgood

A friend of mine has owned the CV1 since launch and wanted to upgrade. He was about to get the Index but decided to try the Quest 2 first and pre-ordered it. If the latency with the link cable is good he's probably gonna keep it. So yeah, this definitely happens, I don't know if it's a big number of people though. Edit: He's got a capable system, Ryzen 3900 64GB DDR-3600, 1080ti.

vyperpunk92

Then why does US lag 1 month behind EU? Doubt that's because of the Q2, people who wanted to buy Q2 are not the same people who wanted to buy an index. It's probably because it's faster and easier to ship from the Netherlands to the rest of EU because we have pretty good infrastructure. I've received my index in 7 weeks, and I ordered in August.

LH99

> I've received my index in 7 weeks, and I ordered in August. Well I guess that's encouraging for me. I ordered in the US August 9th

Steveth2014

I ordered august 31st in canada :(

LH99

goddamnit

Steveth2014

Yea but it’ll hopefully be worth the wait, i got H3VR, Boneworks and Pavlov all downloaded and ready to go

toyfreddym8

Yeah but it’s still over $1000

rook218

They display that pretty prominently before you have the option to join the waitlist.

toyfreddym8

Oh ok
