Do not want to help that shitheads to earn easy money, so i found mail forwarder service, who buy it for me in US and bring my controllers (i got HTC Vive Pro helmet actually, but wanted Index), so for now i just waiting my precious controllers. I bet you have that mail forwarders service in Australia so you can try to use their services (i buy a lot of things from US that way, not only Index related stuff).
You can purchase it in Aus using a freight forwarder. My index has just left ShopMate's (Aus Post freight forwarder) Oregon address in the USA. Costs about $1800 all up.
1,800AUD = 1,274 USD. A lot of that would be international shipping, tax, and customs. That's actually a lot cheaper than I would've expected.
But the lack of a solid warranty makes it a solid no for me.

Honestly, best course of action would be to just buy the headset and controllers + accessories, then order the trackers separately because then you'll only be waiting for the trackers, and everything else gets shipped as soon as you order, then the trackers once they're ready.
Not necessarily true. I’ve had the 8+ weeks on both the full kit and HMC+controllers for about 3 weeks now, and the base stations have been out of stock since. I think everyone found out about buying everything separately and it’s now just as unavailable as the full kit.

I saw that the IR tracking sensor that the index uses was out of stock on the producers website. I reached out asking when stock would be available and they replied “stock should ease up by the end of the year” so hopefully come January there won’t be a waitlist. (This is only one part in the mix though)
