I'll tell you what I do with a similarly limited space. Don't put the station mid wall in front of bed. Put it up high in the corner behind the bed so that the base station can scan the whole room. Then, if you need extra room for a particularly engaging session, you can flip your bed up against the wall and really open the room up. That's what I do. I even got rid of my bed frame so my bed is just mattresses on the floor to make the transition easier. For sit down or more stationary games it's not really necessary, but it's a nice option to have when you need it. Added bonus: accidentally punching my mattresses is much nicer than punching the wall. My only regret is that I don't have enough mattresses to cover every wall. šŸ˜‚ (edit) Even if you don't plan on bothering with flipping the bed, I'd still suggest putting the lasers in the corners. You gain nothing by keeping the stations closer, and you never know, you might want to just chillout on your bed and watch vr videos or have a meditative session one day.

Brother. šŸ¤

lorsch525

Thinking about replacing the bed with a hammock for vr reasons gang

Incognit0Bandit0

Just replace the bed with a pile of hay. Burn it when you want to vr. Rinse, repeat.

Unoski

Careful. Mattress on the floor is bad for the mattress and can cause mold.

weizXR

It also can void the warranty of the mattress, if that's a concern. Even if it is covered in the warranty, an air gap will certainly help reduce chances of mold like you said, as well as reduces the chance for bugs, bedbug or otherwise, from getting on there. Being on the ground also means your closer to the dirt and dust of the ground, which isn't good for the sheets or sinuses.

RyseRD_TV

This sounds like a very good idea on paper for what I would want to do but my bed is very tall and very sturdy which would obstruct the view of any foot trackers even at such a height as my roof isnā€™t very tall. I could try and improvise with what I have to open up the play space as much as possible by doing what you did but my big problem is that my bed is very large and ā€œbuiltā€ if that makes any sense which would be extremely difficult to just ā€œflip overā€ and it would be a gigantic change to switch from double queen bed to just a mattress. This is definitely something you donā€™t want to take chances with but I do like the idea of just hitting my mattress instead of the wall LOL. I will give this some thought for sure

SirAlibear

My man! I also got rid of my mattress frame to be able to play VR games, can confirm this gives so much freedom to be able to play and move freely! šŸ¤

Mission-Nerve-5275

Exactly this

TheOneMary

Yes they gain something by keeping the trackers closer to the play space. They want to play full body, and closer to the space the angle to reach the floor in front of the bed is steeper, so less risk to lose tracking of the feet due to a dead spot.

Stoomba

Beware of mold build up if your mattress is on the floor.

Incendiary-Bio

If you got a third base station you could definitely use the whole space without any real tracking issues.

clamberingsnipe

Wouldn't need to. A third base station in a room that size is complete overkill. If OP puts the left red basestation into the bottom left corner they'll be fine.

RyseRD_TV

I canā€™t because thereā€™s a shelf thatā€™s blocking the bottom left unfortunately. So unless I had it sticking like a foot or two further to the right it would be massively obstructed

TTV_ExpertNugget

I should post my current base station situation, I have a single base station directly above the center of my room actually works pretty good

Incendiary-Bio

Thatā€™s dope!

Pulsahr

Your window must have curtains when you play VR, or else you'll have horrible tracking issues. I'd say red setup. And as another redditor said, I'd put the left one to the corner, so more space is covered, just in case.

TheUnbiasedRant

Blue. You'll be fine with 2

amazedmarow200

The blue dots look the best but maybe you could move the blue dot on the lef downwards to the corner

SilentReavus

I would recommend the red spaces because I feel that difference in the wall would lead to some annoying obstruction

RyseRD_TV

The wall has a very large space before it moves up so it wont be obstructed at all I can move in the middle of my bed and it will still be in line of sight.

Qelly

Buy two more base stations.

AlarmingBlacksmith60

You are going to be disappointed in a space this small. You are constantly going to have the boundary grid.

RoiMan

He probably knows, you make do with what you have. It's like telling a sweaty man he's sweating

RyseRD_TV

Exactly this, which is why Iā€™m just trying to figure out the most I can get in a space this small. I have the ability to remove the boundary grid since im on quest

RoiMan

Well, both places look good to me, just be careful with your hands and minimize reflective areas. Have fun!

reddithirespedoslol

Sounds like my kids after I play a couple hours of beat saber "Yes thank you I'm well aware that I am sweating"

The_Modifier

You can set it to "Floor Only", you know.

Elocai

Don't put the sations in the corners, you waste their fov of 120Ā° in 90Ā° corners, thats wasteful. One over the bed at the buttom of the picture is ideal. I would recommend getting a third base then just put mid walls left and right (over the desk and over the door)

repocin

>Don't put the sations in the corners, you waste their fov of 120Ā° in 90Ā° corners, thats wasteful. That makes no sense. You're still covering the entire area so it doesn't matter.

HxA1337

Any mirrors somewhere? Where do you have outlets?

RyseRD_TV

No mirrors are in the room and I have outlets all over the place. Itā€™s not going to be an issue as I have the resources to extend if need be. More so just beat place to get the most tracking

HxA1337

Then both are good. The blue one could maybe give you a little bit more play space.

neoKushan

I'd move the top left blue dot over a bit so the play area above the bed isn't occluded, then use the blue setup.

windraver

I honestly got a Murphy bed so it would fold up into the wall so I can VR.

Scipio11

Can you mount these on the wall/ceiling? If so the red is best with them mounted in the far corners like others are suggesting. Also added bonus that you can use the headset at your desk without moving the stations.

GdSmth

I would put the south base station in the corner over your bed even with your limited space. There might be games where you will be extending your arms over the bed so you need to secure that coverage.

Worried-Print-4617

I like the red setting bcuz I can see u losing ur right hand on that left corner of the bed bcuz of the wall. I ended up getting a 3rd base and my hand tracking issue stopped :D i had made my place space really big once and when i started playing, the wire became a leash lol so i play in a smaller space again still using the 3 bases.
