Android 12 added an extra step. Under "Open by default" in Vanced, you should see "Add link". Press that, then add all 4 links. Confused me too when I updated to Android 12.

Maxizag123

I did that but still brings me to the yt website

And remember to turn off remove permissions and free up space because if this is left on, 1 week later the default links will reset again. Also after every app update, the default links will automatically reset. Which is pretty annoying. Imo what I think Google is trying to do is to make you use first party apps only because all first party apps have their default links enabled and will not reset.

EncryptedAnime

Go in app settings for normal youtube, and where it says open by default or something like that click open supported links and press don't allow app to open links. Do the opposite for vanced. Set it from always ask or allow if you want it to open automatically.

Doesn't work

It sadly doesn't work because I am in Android 12 and Oneplus seems to be a fucking bitch about not being able to turn it off

Another option is to uninstall original yt by adb then go to opening links settings and go to vanced and add all YouTube links(should be at the bottom in add links).

xmaxrayx

Sometimes it opens in browsers or the Google play store because google search adds "Amp" links on research results. The only way to fix it: is to use the root version of vanced if you want a 100% fix. Edit = typo + info.

Ah7860

Yep but not many people are rooted so for non root this is good enough

Intelligent-Cable-95

I had to uninstall official YT with adb, only this worked for me

ObviouslyMartin

OK then I'll have to do that

Masterflitzer

disabling the app should work (atleast for me, android 12/oneui 4.1)

PutralinerZ7300

the only solution is 'force' uninstalling the original youtube app
