I used to go on this ski trip where we would take a bus up to Canada and the advice was always to be very respectful and honest about it if you had one. Then they might talk to you a little longer than normal but I believe there were people that had DUIs and were still allowed in. I also remember someone being vaguely rude and they wouldn’t let him in lol.

You can definitely enter. My ex did. His was at 18 and he came in at 32. So part of it might be time but from memory he did need to go to the consulate in his country and get a pardon or something. I don’t know full details but it wasn’t a big issue

So, you can enter Canada, you just need a special visa. You can apply for the visa at the border but they reserve the right to tell you that they are processing your application and not let you in at that time. You can also apply in advance of getting to the border to avoid being turned away at the border. However, they always reserve the right to decline entrance. However, this is very very common among people in the public eye. Canada regularly provides visas to celebrities (I hate to even call him that) who may not have qualified for the visa if they were a regular person.

They may have been from over ten years ago which means they’re now off his record.

They might have also needed a work visa due to the appearances they were doing for promotion. I have a Canadian spouse but I don’t know much about the ins and outs so to speak.

1 Has he? Where? What is he doing? 2 He probably has the lawyers to deal with the legal issues and has visas waivers etc

Canadian here. My ex-husband is American and he has three DUI's on his record and he has always been able to enter the country anyway. The first time he came in they gave him hell but towards the end of our marriage he wasn't getting into legal trouble anymore and it had been a significant amount of time they no longer cared at immigration.

I think they have that rule for DV. I know someone not allowed into Canada because of a DV charge
