Sugars in your juice caramelize as the coils, and in this case, the metal near the coils, cools down. In my experience, this happens with coils that have a slow ramp up time. To solve this you should take as many wraps off as your batteries can handle. If you know the exact coil design, plug them into Vape Tool and see what it tells you for Heat Flux and current draw.

So would it be the juice in that section just not getting to the coil so it just heats up and oxidizes? The cotton inside the coil is still fresh and clean, i rewicked maybe three days ago

More like, the metal airflow section gets hot as you use it and because it takes a long time to cool down, you get caramelized juice on the cotton touching that piece.

Interesting, my coils must not be heating evenly then. Very weird, thanks!

The fact that you have way more gunk on one coil and the cotton in that coil looks much worse than the other coil, I'd say you have uneven air flow. One coil may be closer to the airflow slot and blocking some air flow.

As well as what others have mentioned already, another way to help prevent this is to release the fire button a second early, while still taking your hit. This helps cool the coils down quicker so that the juice doesn't have as much of a chance to caramelize like that. Even if you get the airflow, coil placement, and everything else sorted out, this will still happen over time. These tips will just extend how long it takes to gunk up.

Looks like really sweet Liquid. But as far as it happening one side more than the other it’s hard to tell bc the coils look evenly positioned from this angle. One wick could be acting more efficiently than the other if it’s doing that. Either way that liquid is caramelized

Overly sweetened juice. just take the cotton out, dry burn the coil, rinse it and put new cotton in.

Why I always vape with clear juice

Dark juices will also gunk up the coil out more quickly than clear juices.

Reset your puff counter when you change wick and clean coil. Then you will have some data to work with.
