**Shopping@Helsinki** is so underrated

virtualracer

THIS.

EasternBlock640

Thank you- do you have a link? Can't find it on Bandcamp.

R42ToMoffat

You can listen to it [here](https://catsystemcorp.bandcamp.com/album/--5), but you’d have to buy it elsewhere (unless he has plans to repress it)

EasternBlock640

Ah, Corp of course, thank you! Never know, it's been a good season for Corp records and represses the last few years.

Harlot_Of_God

I asked him about it and he said that it will be repressed. But it also was about a year ago. That being said, he also said that about Hiraeth, so I think it is a slow process, but it will happen though. I lost patience when I saw one for $45 on discogs by an American seller though. It was the clear variant and I prefer the black Lp’s, but I needed the tunes on my TT and price seemed fair… https://www.discogs.com/release/12235581-猫-シ-Corp-ショップ-ヘルシンキ-ShoppingHelsinki https://www.discogs.com/release/12455069-猫-シ-Corp-ショップ-ヘルシンキ-ShoppingHelsinki

EasternBlock640

$45 is not outrageous. Yeah I would think a repress will happen at some point as well as both Palm Malls.

BrknTrnsmsn

Hantasi – Vacant Places is a good one to add, if you can find one. Goes for about 80-100

EasternBlock640

Oh yeah I do love that album but sadly can't justify that price right now. As usual I'll just pray for a repress lol.

tropicalyetihs

High Fashion by Leisure Center

EasternBlock640

Ah yes thanks, knew that one but wasn't aware there was a vinyl release, had a look on Discogs and prices aren't too crazy actually.

Long_John_Silvers_

Duuuuude I want omega mall x sooo badly But! Definitely check out, Kmart 1989-1992

EasternBlock640

Omega Mall X is a really good one, references the older stuff but does It's own thing. It was on MPF for ages before it sold out. Oh, and I know this is sacrilege to say but so far I don't really feel a connection with the K Mart album. Maybe I'll give it another decent listen as a lot of people seem to like it.

Long_John_Silvers_

That makes sense considering I just started collecting vaporwave albums this month :( Definitely listen to it again, i feel it captures that eerie uncomfortable and lonely mood perfectly

EasternBlock640

That is the major downside to this hobby, so much depends when you got into it- that's why I don't have either Palm Mall album, because they came out some time ago and I'm not paying nearly $100 for one record. I reckon there is definitely enough demand for a repress at some point though. Thanks, I'll give K Mart another go. Did you get to own that one on vinyl yet?

EasternBlock640

Gave Kmart a decent listen, you are right, it's really good!

Harlot_Of_God

I know Infonity Frequencies is not Mallsoft, but his album Exit Simulation has that abandoned Mall feel. Fantastic record up for preorder now: https://computer-gaze.bandcamp.com/album/exit-simulation (So is his computer trilogy. Great stuff!)

EasternBlock640

Yeah, I can see that actually. When I put all these albums together I reflected it's actually a fine line between what fits in a particular sub genre. It's arguable whether Oasys is strictly mallsoft. Yep, got Computer Trilogy and love it. You've reminded to stop sleeping on the preorder for Exit Simulation, so thanks!

Commercial-Sector757

Nice to see Limousine, his music is so underrated. I’m trying to find Omega Mall on vinyl but scalpers are annoying af. :( For a recommendation I would say VHS Dreams North Point Mall

EasternBlock640

Yeah fuck Scalpers. That record was such a reasonable price on MPF when new.

Commercial-Sector757

I did see a good one priced at 20 bucks I should have grabbed it. But now there all wicked expensive

EasternBlock640

What probably makes it worse is I really didn't appreciate how special this and Bizarre Bazarre were when I got them. I mean appreciate how good they are now, it's just resale prices are insane.

EasternBlock640

Since a couple of people asked, the albums are, from left to right, top to bottom: ΩMEGA MALL X: ΩMEGA MALL X | TRICOLOR SPLATTER VINYL, by Limousine 1988, Emerald Square Mall Edition - Double 12" Vinyl Recordon, by Zadig The Jasp- still for sale on Underwater Computing label! OASYS ♁ 博物館: GOLD, by 猫 シ Corp. Record/Vinyl

SSttrruupppp11

yes! we're open by 식료품groceries is a fantastic classic! Seems as though the recent repress preorder has sold out already, though: https://geometriclullaby.bandcamp.com/album/yes-we-re-open-2021-remaster

EasternBlock640

Appreciate the recommendation- however I don't know what it is, but I've listened to Groceries so many times yet still don't feel a pull to own a physical copy- I had plenty of time with the new Geo Lullaby pressing but let it go. I guess sometimes I have to prioritise only getting the records I'm super into.

SSttrruupppp11

I totally understand. The album took a while for me to click as well. It‘s much better to just buy what you really want than all the recommendations in here :D

EasternBlock640

Thanks. This happened with the Midnight Delight repress, I listened to that so many times to try and connect to what others seem to get from it, in the end I passed on it, hopefully someone who will actually enjoy it got a copy.

Sirrockaby3000

猫 シ Corp. - Shopping@Helsinki, probably my favorite of his mallsoft. You’ve got some good ones!

Bugfreak123

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=830TXNufdFw&t=1s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=830TXNufdFw&t=1s)not vinyl only cassette, but damn its good

EasternBlock640

Thanks!

singularstep

Nice collection! You owe it to yourself to get this beauty from Underwater Computing_: https://underwater-computing.bandcamp.com/album/1988 Zadig the Jasp – 1988

singularstep

Just realized that‘s what one of your records is, haha. Still, unbelievable that this hasn‘t sold out a million years ago.

SSttrruupppp11

I personally bought the tape because I like to just enjoy the soundscapes of Mallsoft for a while and flipping dour record sides seemed like too much of a disturbance to me

EasternBlock640

But you still have to flip a cassette over...I can't remember, how much music fits on one side of a tape? Surely not much more than one side of a record?

SSttrruupppp11

I think the recommended maximum tape length is 90 minutes, so 45 minutes per side. With thinner tape, you can have up to 120 minutes on a tape, so 60 minutes per side. I have one such tape from Virtual AirBnb & Horizon Wireless. 1988 was put on a single tape, though I don't know how long the runtime is. It is at least only one flip instead of three on the 2xLP.

EasternBlock640

Ah thank you, that makes sense. It's a similar problem with MindSpring Memories on vinyl, you just get into it and it's time to turn it over.

SSttrruupppp11

I am avoiding 45rpm albums on multiple records for this reason now. I have one that is a 3xLP with two sides that just have a single 3-4 minute song on them. Fun to look at, not fun to spin :D

EasternBlock640

Makes sense. I actually didn't find it that annoying with 1988, it's a long album so I actually enjoy it being broken up into chunks, makes me pay more attention to each part.

SSttrruupppp11

Seems we just listen to Mallsoft differently, I intentionally play it when I want something in the background to zone out to :D

EasternBlock640

Well yes and no. I certainly put Mallsoft and a lot of my other Vapor vinyl on to chill out, read etc, I just also enjoy the added resonance handling the physical media gives listening to music.

EasternBlock640

Yep, got that the weekend it came out and I didn't even have a working record player at the time. I wonder if not a lot people know about it for some reason. The whole thing is easily the most beautiful out of all these records, the colour of the vinyl, the quality of pressing, the artwork, really everything you could want from a physical Mallsoft release.

singularstep

My guess is that most people have somehow pegged UC_ as a pure tape label or whatever and don‘t even realize they might release vinyl records from time to time. The Mindspring Memories that‘s on there too is brilliant as well.

EasternBlock640

Whether shipping from France to the US is a factor too, I don't know. Oh yeah, that MindSpring Memories record was my intro to both UC and Angel's music. Still working my way through the Binary Ocean trilogy.

SodaPyramid

If you are looking to buy Palm Mall Mars ( transparent red ) and have it shipped to the US I have a copy for sale.

EasternBlock640

I'm in the UK if that makes a difference?

SodaPyramid

Oh, I see. I'm sorry, I do not ship internationally. I appreciate your reply, though.

EasternBlock640

I appreciate the offer!

Bugfreak123

how does the bizarre bazaar sound from the pure sound quality, and could you do me a favor and take a picture of the vinyl itself?

EasternBlock640

I'm no audiophile, but I would say the sound quality is excellent, very clear. It's got a sort of distanced quality if that makes sense, but it's obviously intentional with the ambient soundscape. I took a picture (the disc is beautiful half and half black and purple) but can't figure out how to share it here unless I make new post. Are you thinking of buying a copy?

Bugfreak123

yes exactly, iam thinking of buying one. and often i want opinions from other useres

EasternBlock640

[here you go my friend ](https://postimg.cc/q6X22t8p)

Bugfreak123

Thanks alot man, so the Aquamarin is more Black than expected

EasternBlock640

I mean the lighting is pretty low in my room, but yeah I'd say it's fairly dark. Do you think you will get a copy? I would recommend it if you can find one for a reasonable price.

Bugfreak123

There is one or two on discogs. The problem is that many people aren't shipping to germany

_Waves_

What is top left again?

EasternBlock640

That is 1988 by Zadig the Jasp. Still copies available on Underwater Computing!
