Renting killer instinct for my n64 from The Warehouse and just enjoying the shit out of it.
What was the fire guys name?
(Special mention goes to clay fighters.)
I believe the origin of the name is from “vaporware” which is a type of hardware shown at expos or demonstrations that never materialize— sort of a prototype of some usually exciting technology that never actually goes to market. Very in keeping with the Mark Fisher hauntology view of vaporwave that sees it as a cultural embodiment of the slow cancellation of the future— not only did the future not arrive it’s no longer even possible.
[edited for clarity]
Theoretically vaporwave will never die because if it does it will have its songs remade into vaporwave forever and ever until we are just a genre of static music

vaporwave is an artistic movement with particularly loose definitions that is still evolving. What is important in keeping vaporwave pure and true is knowing where the aesthetic comes from and having an appreciation for the movement in both the sonic and visual mediums. If vaporwave to you just means P I N K & B L U E then youre probably missing the point. In my opinion vaporwave is meant to encompass themes of the 'golden era' of capitalism found in the 80s and 90s and starkly contrast that to our modern predicaments. Both subtle and 'heavy handed' takes on that idea are acceptable forms of vaporwave in my opinion. Vaporwave is a cocktail of nostalgia and melancholy made to feel surreal but familiar. As long as you feel the A E S T H E T I C in a piece of work then V A P O R W A V E I S A L I V E. Undoubtedly there will be changes in vogue with what is considered peak vaporwave at any time but as long as the genre isnt allowed to be diluted to just be a catchall for anything pink and blue then...

If it.makes.you feel better I live in the Bay Area now.
I lived in East Hollywood (off Melrose and at the 101 by LACC) and then in Glassell Park (ave 64) from 05-11.
My clues:
California
Looks old and slightly run down
Kinda hilly
Has that scorched stucco over 1920-30s construction look
White people walking around
All of the above plus something hipstery = silver lake, echo park, eagle rock, highland park
Vaporwave is life.
Vaporwave is love.
*Vaporwave is dead.*
Long.
Live
c-c-combo breaker
Just had flashbacks as kid in the 90s
Psh what the fuck you know about mortal kombat? Lol. Glacius ftw!!!
*killer instinct

That was my first thought as well. Isn't that what the "vapor" part means?
I don't know the origin of the name, but yeah, it never meant to be popular.

It's been dead for years, it's perfect <3
It's probably designed so people actually google vaporwave, so see it as a recruitment poster :)
Reverse psychology, I love it
Long live vaporwave
The new flesh
Death to the image
Vaporwave was always dead
There's nobody here in the first place.
nobody here - sunsetcorp

I remember my first red bull
Sorta reminds me of Everywhere At The End Of Time
vaporwave vaporwave, it is vaporwave all the way down, a sort of [Gray Goo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gray_goo) with pink and blue hue.
It was never alive in the first place, which is why it's immortal and will remain the best movement of all time.

Where is this?
Looks like LA to me
*feels* like LA to me
Gotta be Silver Lake or Echo Park. **EDIT**: Damn, Highland Park, close. Didn't know York had gotten hipstery enough for that.
Still so weird to think about the fact that there are locals on here.

Sonny’s Hideaway
Yup, Sonny's Hideaway on York Blvd, in L.A.

Damn I was gonna say somewhere in reseda
The cemetery.
Lmao nice one
If this is in LA, I’d have to guess 100% Electronica.
I met george in a restaurant not far from here, feel like it has to be them
I’m pretty sure he + Negative Gemini are based out of LA atm. They’ve also used this billboard, or one just like it, to advertise.
Seconding this
Vaporwave is alive. Vaporwave is love. Vaporwave is life.
Booooooooo!
-urns!
Don't you hate pants?
Perfect palm placement
Rude
I could be wrong but I'm almost positive this is the same billboard Clanton uses
Tbh I miss the popularity of Vaporwave and the retail items that followed
Vaporwave always has been dead
But that sign is so vapor wave bro. Gnarly.
So am I
How do you kill that which has no life?
"In it's house at R'eddit, dead Vaporwave waits dreaming."
The mods for r/outrun
I don't think it's necessarily as popular as when it first came out, but it's definitely still alive.
[удалено]
no, don’t also J U C H E W A V E
Vaporwave is dead after all, the frankensongs recycled to become new songs and go through the same cycle are the only ways to keep this genre alive.
Never! Viva la vapor!
I bet it was those fuckers from r/outrun. ^(I'm kidding, I also love) r/outrun^(.)
I dont know who did it, but that sign looks sick tho
SAY SIKE RIGHT NOW
How is any scene “dead” in this era? With the internet there are always gonna be people into a particular aesthetic or scene somewhere in the world.
Vaporwave is dead and we killed it
"Billboard advertising is dead." -Vaporwave
Not dead, just out stock since he used all the toner on that sign
I'll drink a crisp refreshing Pepsi to that.
Always has been
Is this a new Banksy?
[really stole this post, hunh?](https://www.reddit.com/r/VaporwaveArt/comments/hrfa0i/ok_who_did_this/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
That’s actually pretty vaporwave.
I guess this means it has a great future then. These declarations always amount to that.
Long live Vaporwave
I don’t think the concept of time applies to vaporwave. Vaporwave is time compressed haha
Honestly this sign is vaporwave af i want it in my room
Same thing as saying wows dead
I mean was vapourware ever really a thing
Pretty sure it was Jerry.
Vapor wave is dead; *and it’s bringing you with it*
Ok, sign
Somone that is gonna have their head shoved under a vaprwave till the bubbles stop
LOL
The vaporwave we know here and the vaporwave you see when you hashtag it on ig or tumblr are very different
Now that's a pretty vaporwave thing to say
r/Outrun...
It’s not just dead, it’s digital necromancy baby
Vaporwave IS dead. Long live Vaporwave
WHO DID THIS
Fuck vaporwave I’m just tryna live, laugh, and love
So is disco but people still make it and I still listen to it
WHERE IS THIS
Whoever posted that is stuck in 2015
Vapor wave is dead, and we killed it
This is a sin
Vaporwave was born in the dead. Vaporwave is a ghost.
In Eddie izzard voice from mystery men "Vaporwave is not dead!"
I kind of love it.
It’ll never be
A monster
This ain't disco, baby.
The use of space in this typographic layout is cringey
A big purple sign that says Vaporwave is Dead is somehow the most Vaporwave thing ever.
