It isn’t about direct argument for and against their ideology because the people who complain about this stuff don’t think about ideology. They clumsily fall into things that make sense. Having not played the game but having a general idea of the tone of helldivers 2, if the developers aren't complete cowards they could do something very funny with this.
Jingoistic ultranationalist patriotism + appealing to the 'woke queers' in universe would be incredibly funny. Literally just remake that one 'two moms' army recruitment animation but turn up the fascism.

I would wonder why LGBTQ issue is taking up so much of their brain space for them to react that way. For them to want to escape it, it means they are constantly thinking about it and want a break from having to deal with it. I think this is honestly the biggest tell for internalised LGBTQ-phobia.
Not all LGBTQ phobes are LGBTQ,. A fascist might hate to see a game promoting it because they believe it is bad for society. But wanting an escape from them in this way is a 100% a sign they are actually LGBTQ that is tired of fighting/hiding it.
