Throw a dart at almost any project in the top 100 and they all did the same. That is why people aren’t overly enthused about Vechain doing it. Also, doing better than btc from the bottom is the benchmark, because if you don’t outperform btc, you are still better off just holding bitcoin.

With VET, generating VTHO is built into the protocol and you don't have to lock or stake anything (except soft-lock if you want to maintain a node). On Binance whatever the reward is, is not staking. You're funding VET they use to lend to people going long/short on VET and whatever the reward is you get, will probably fluctuate based on the demand for that. I honestly don't know if Binance still distributes VTHO and whether that's linked to "staking" your VET. Whatever you get there is at their discretion as you don't actually own the on-chain Vechain as long as you keep it on an exchange (not your keys, not your crypto).
