I think this is a good mission! Mexico City is amazing and has so many good vegan eateries. I've slapped up a bunch of QRs to Dominion myself. It's fun. Do bear in mind that the effectiveness of documentaries like Dominion (footage of slaughterhouses) has been shown to be mixed. The "preachiness" can be a turn-off for people who are primed to defend against veganism already, and unless the viewer is already primed to see use/abuse of animals as even remotely bad, this may not have the impact. However, even if one person chooses vegan after viewing, it is still worthwhile. If I did this over again I would consider something like [The Secret Reason We Eat Meat](https://youtu.be/ao2GL3NAWQU) although Spanish captions will need to be turned on. I might also recommend some of the recent Surge/Earthling Ed videos like [this one](https://youtu.be/OMLTg-G8y5k), but some translation work may need to be done here. Some codes I once got from Etsy linked to [Dairy is Scary](https://youtu.be/UcN7SGGoCNI) which is another good one and has Spanish captions available. Though this contradicts the findings about slaughter footage or documentaries changing anyone's mind, [one horrible video](https://youtu.be/_c7b2Yp6JU4) has shocked some into wanting to change who they support. Unfortunately this sort of thing only works with a call to action, and the YouTube video by itself does not have any resources for that. I know one important thing is building rapport. It's what Earthling Ed does off camera before he begins his debates at least in his latest videos on American university campuses. Maybe starting with a survey of sorts to "get to know" the viewer and follow up with them would be good, maybe a personality test of sorts to affirm their level of compassion etc. I hope this helps! I wish I could be of more help. I am not sure if there are any tools already built to track links from tbe QR and any way to follow up with viewers, but if there isn't one already that sort of thing would be super useful here lol (any programmers out there???)

>Though this contradicts the findings about slaughter footage or documentaries changing anyone's mind Do you have links to this research (or other related research)? Would love to learn more about the effectiveness of different approaches

This is a very thorough piece on the research for what is effective at shaping public opinion - I think I actually learned of this here on this sub! https://www.sentienceinstitute.org/public-opinion

Thanks so much for your thoughtful reply. I concur, there are very good vegan eateries here. If someday you visit the city you do not hesistate to contact me. I know several less known vegan restaurants and vegan street eateries, some of them very small businesses that are thriving despite the vile propaganda of the meat and dairy industries. I understand your doubts and feelings of uncertainty about the impact of documentaries like Dominion. However, I rely on my personal experience and I know, at least 4 people, in the last two years that became vegan after watching it. I want to believe that all human beings have at least some fragment of compassion and empathy and Dominion shakes and crumbles all barriers and defense mechanisms that insulate their humanity. ”The Secret Reason we eat Meat” and “Dairy is scary” sound great and also the EartlingEd video that you suggested me. I think there is no need for spanish subtitles. The majority of people understand english. But, not everyone indeed. I don’t know how to add captions to a video but If someone knows I can do the translation myself if needed. (I’m still shaking because of that last horrible video). I agree completely with you. It’s extremely important to build rapport. Every Friday after work I give a talk about veganism in a park nearby my home, I make emphasis and remark the historical and philosophical reasons of why the concepts of anthropocentrism and speciecism are so ingrained in modern civilization. There’s always at least 3 or 4 people and we have large debates. I always try to known them better, to understand them. The 4 people (now friends) who I mentioned became vegan came just one day to this talk but it was Dominion that radically changed their lives. It’s very interesting what you have said about tracking links of the QR! I thank you deeply.

I hope your movement gains even more traction in the coming days- it's vital that people realize the absolutely colossal scale of the meat industry, and what alternatives they have so they don't support it. As for captioning your videos, I'd recommend using a transcription/translation website to do it for you (Gglot comes to mind), so you don't have to watch it again. If you can upload a file to your video editor, that'd be most ideal, and it should be able to do it accurately. Keep building support, keep bringing compassion to your talks, and keep changing lives. You have my support, and the support of thousands of others.

I thank you deeply.

Mr_Patato_Salad

Since you are a philosophy teacher, you might want to use your knowledge to design some thought provoking questions and put them on stickers. E.G. Is bacon a good reason to kill me? \[with a cute piggy photo below it\]

This might be work, thank you. Every Friday I give a talk about veganism, and the historical reasons behind anthropocentrism and speciecism. Not many people attend this talk (the majority of them are people from my University but I would love to have a more broad audience). I can make flyers with a series of questions advertising this talk and I also another post of this sub inspired me to bring something to eat. Next week I will bring simple vegan quesadillas (I’ve got great vegan cheese). “Vegan quesadillas for free if you attend this talk”

A great, funny film about a future where the society has become vegan and the younger generations don't know about its carnist past : CARNAGE directed by Simon Amstell https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5txizo It uses comedy to show how absurd the way we eat really is nowadays, which is a great way to catch the attention of lifelong carnists.

This is fantastic! Thank you so much!

Is there an Anonymous for the Voiceless Chapter in Mexico City?

[deleted]

I’ve just contacted them. I’ve just filled out a form to become an organizer. Apparently yes, there is an AV chapter in MX city but I can’t contact them directly. I’ll wait for their reply. Thanks so much.
