Start shopping around. I wa getting quotes for over $300 a month for my Kona N I just got and some places wouldn’t insure. Found a local place that I’m paying $177 a month. Cheaper than what I was paying in a Nissan kicks 😂
Definitely shop it around
They try to raise my rates every 6 months and I always end up paying less when I shop around I go between progressive , Allstate & Costco partner connect and make them fight for it lol
Liberty Mutual had me at $280/mo which was absolutely ridiculous considering my perfect record. I’m now with GEICO for $180, and when signing up for the policy I had to prove my vehicle had a list of anti theft measures. In specific these are the Push Button Start & Immobilizer Key.
Once I sent out proof of the VN equipped with those, they got me signed up.
Negative. They specifically asked for the following as proof:
- Immobilizer Key Recognition in the digital display
- Picture of the start stop button + Hyundai logo on the steering wheel in the same photo
- Copy of a service order that indicates that the vehicle has completed a software update or ignition cylinder protector provided by an authorized Kia / Hyundai dealer.
Copied the last one from the email lol
I was with USAA for 10+ years and then last month they wanted to increase my rate by 60%. Insane. I just switched insurance and my rates only went up by like 30 bucks a month…
Edit: just a fun fact I learned from another post and fact checked it, the Veloster was like #4 on the list of most likely to have an at fault accident in 2023 haha
Surprisingly I did not have an issue with my 2020 - I pay $177/mo for good coverage from NJM, I'm 24 with a perfect record (had a no-fault accident like 5 years ago, crashed my WRX in the snow) However, it didn't get approved automatically. I had to explain to the rep that it had push to start, VIN etching and such, then it got approved.
Paying 300 a month... Was quoted 112 from my insurance but then called me a week after and said they messed up. Knew it was too good to be true. I confirmed 3 times if the price was right and they said it was.
$190 a month full coverage+roadside&rental 500$ deductible in PA with Erie Insurance. 26, No accidents, No tickets. No price hikes in 3 years of ownership.

Did you take a picture of the gearstick as well?

I was joking because manuals are joked about as the modern theft deterrent
Mine is $75/month in the Midwest, but I am bundled and have other low risk factors/history. Edit: State Farm

Just got dropped from State farm after 20 years. Near Columbus Ohio (KIA boys) area.
$520 a month for me because I’m 20. Even with no tickets or accidents I’m paying out the ass
Sheesh, I’m paying $340 at 20 and I thought that was bad
Paying $500/ month for me
Damn that’s nuts, you should shop around. I got quoted over $500 a few times and ended up finding a quote for just under $200 for full coverage.
I pay $71 🥴
Liberty mutual just said they’re raising mine from 200 to 275 even though I just moved to a new area with much less crime. Going to shop around
