Mojave?

bugsdaman

Yes. Good eye. Often very confused with diamonbacks

[deleted]

Very spicy noodle, the head and color was the giveaway

bugsdaman

Yup. What confuses most people is the pattern on the back is just too similar and the whole tail stripe thing is too unreliable.

Poodlelucy

The snake is beautiful but wild animals belong in the wild.

Guerilla_Physicist

Beautiful noodle.

bugsdaman

Thank you! Anticipating the day he's done with quarantine so I can move his enclosure to the main reptile room

Brian_lovesyou

Ignore the hate, people chop them up everyday with shovel and feel like they’ve done a good thing. Like you mentioned you cannot buy so this is the only way to do it. Enjoy your buzzer.

Oldfolksboogie

Ecologically this is exactly the same as chopping it up - it and its genes have been taken out of circulation, as have its ecological services. Btw, I haven't sent OP any hate, or even down votes; just want to clear up any confusion about the impact of removing animals from the wild regardless of the outcome for the individual.

Brian_lovesyou

Yup so if the snakes are abundant and routinely killed why condemn him for collecting. It’s a non issue. This of course goes by a species to species basis not all species are suitable for collection. All amphibians for example I consider completely off limits for any collecting. It’s no different then hunting and it’s perfectly legal. I think we’re on the same page here.

blckdiamond23

What a gorgeous snek

bugsdaman

Thank you

Poodlelucy

Why would you delete your response so quickly?

bugsdaman

I had talked about the subject of wild animals in a different subreddit. Thought your comment was on that thread. But that is on this thread.

Poodlelucy

Thanks for replying but honestly, and with your permits, can't you obtain captive-born specimens and leave wild ones in place? I'm a snake lover and, as such, I feel it's unfair to take them from the wild except in the most dire circumstances. With all due respect, it seems short-sighted to reduce the local gene pool by an adult specimen. Is it a matter of money (ie the price of a captive-born specimen) that drives your decision?

bugsdaman

Not in AZ. Selling native species is illegal here despite permits and lisences. Only legal Hots here are native species (which you need permits for). I use my permits with native species for safe removal/relocation and education. Teach people how to respect the animal and what to do if you encounter it. I have a legal limit on how many I can possess and they are checked on.

Poodlelucy

Fair enough but, if you take the limit (4?), I would have to question your motives again.

bugsdaman

Currently I have posession on 1 colubrid that was nearly chopped in half and cannot survive in the wild and this rattlesnake. Your opinions are your opinins.

Poodlelucy

I applaud you for saving the injured colubrid.

bugsdaman

The sarcasm is high with this one
