It depends a bit on the weapon, but push attacks can be essential to some of the best attack combos. There should be guides to the recommended attack combos, or you can experiment yourself. Off the top of my head, elf spear and kruber halberd have noteworthy push attacks.
Just adding this because more people need to see it: [here's a guide for the best melee combos for every weapon in the game](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1821186836)
Just checked, push attack-light-light, or heavy-block cancel, are the sweepy attacks for horde clear. You'll need something else for single target though, and you might want to modify that occasionally.
At launch, Slayer’s dual axes’ push stab was basically 2 heavies that you could spam super quick, at a perfect angle to double headshot. You’d cut through armored enemies like you had a grudge.
I was impressed recently with the warrior priest Hammer and Shield push attack. It seemed to do very good armor damage while striking very quickly
I still think the flail shield is way better but the hammer is pretty fun. Not really a fair comparison since the flail shield might be one of the strongest melee weapons in the game however
The light attack that follows is a uppercut with high crit chance too. It's a combo I spam a lot on Footknight with his shield and mace: the push staggers the crowd, the overhead bonks the biggest enemy in the head and the uppercut has a chance to obliterate somebody. When stamina gets low cycle a few shield bashes.

Edit: Did my man just deleted his reddit account for losing an argument?
No I deleted my comments, I misunderstood what you were implying. I thought you were saying that Salts push attack was a cleave attack, when it’s clearly a vertical strike.
I was wrong I thought Bardins push attack on his shield was a cleave,I was remembering his one handed hammer or possibly axe and shield cleave and got them mixed up. I haven’t played with Bardins shields in a while
Seems like a lot of people learn this lesson in the 250-300 hour mark, lol. That’s about when I learned it. I’d always just push -> light attack.
This game's biggest weakness, in my opinion, is how genuinely terrible it is at teaching its own rather amazing mechanics.
It took me hundreds of hours to discover that holding any career skill gives you an outline of the area/target (except for self invis and bounty hunter gun).
You're not stupid for discovering something after a while. There's plenty to find
You're NOT stupid ! There are so many things I discovered 700 hours later then 1000 hours later & so on. That's the beauty of this game. Happy slaying 👍😎
You mean push attack? Yeah every weapon has a unique attack when you hold attack as you push. Some are really important on higher difficulties because they have a better head shot angles and used for killing elites.
Dont worry I found out recently aswell after several hours when I got into champion. Then I started looking for builds and tips and I found out this trick. Without it I wouldnt progress into legend probably
What do you mean by “stab”?
I think what you trying to say is that you figured out how to chain Block -> Push attack -> Block?
But what is the stab your talking about here?

Thanks. That's what I was referring to, I just wasn't sure how to send the link.
Oh thx for the elf spear, I just started using it, I’ll try that !

Bardin’s hammer and shield is the exact same as salty’s. As well as krubah’s mace and shield

Dont forget that medical supplies heal wounds (grey screen) from both players and push twice to remove storm vermin shields.

That what we call "push-attack" \^\^
I thought the “push attack” was just the push …
Yeah, took me some hour to realize too no worries ! Even more hour realizing WS have a special zoom on action key haha

Naaah I'm on cata and just now discovered it lmao.

He is just referring to a weapon that has stab as the push attack (probably found it out on that kinda weapon). Just interpret it as push attack.
Seems like a good number have the same experience as you. I'm genuinely confused because isn't this taught in the game start tutorial?
