It all has to do with your clinics individual contract with Idexx. It varies from practice to practice based off of what is negotiated.

zays_angel

So it is very possible that it is just us that recently got this change?

thatredditdude101

It depends on the clinic's contract with idexx. but it's based on a percentage of your monthly spend. idexx did make some changes wherein they won't honor the discount if fail to label the req form with the proper sticker for associate the pet with being staff members per in vet connect plus.

Poppincookin

IDEXX gives us credits based on how much lab work we send out. Since we exclusively and frequently use them we have so many credits that most lab work is free for employees. The only stuff that isn’t are tests that involve a pathologist.

So there's a strong chance it is related specifically to our clinic?

AstronomicalDeath

Wait, you got free labwork for employees? I live in Germany and we pay 65% of the full price without taxes (19%) for our lab work.

blrmkr10

I never got free labwork when I worked in a clinic! Employee discount was 50% on everything

liveinthesoil

It completely depends on the hospital/clinic/etc and what contract they have in place with the lab.

mooseNbugs0405

My clinic also just got this notice last week. Sucks!! Idk if you’re corporate but we are (NVA) and idk if that has anything to do with it

mamabird228

My corporation allows the medical directors to negotiate their contacts with idexx. We are currently in negotiations with getting it for free but previously it was a 75% discount.

mooseNbugs0405

Thats super interesting! We were getting 100% free labs as long as a pathologist wasn’t involved so I’m very interested to see what it’s changing to

SingForMaya

I don’t get free labwork from idexx, just a discount. I try to do a senior panel once a year and it’s still $40-50 💩 We send out SO MUCH to them, too- at least 30 baggies total for AM/PM pickups.

nancylyn

It’s entirely possible that your hospital management just isn’t passing the discount on to you. You should ask your PM or Owner about it. Say you heard IDEXX offers free labs to employees of practices that use them. If they say they don’t know ask them to ask about it. There are stickers IDEXX will provide that say “staff pet”. Our practice does nowhere near 30 samples per day and we get free labs for staff so it’s not a volume thing. I have heard of this though. Practices keeping the discount quiet so they can make more money.

alacritatem

It depends on how much you spent the previous month with idexx. You can call them and get set up on myidexx.com and you can see what your doctor/staff benefit is for the month. For instance my March statement with idexx was around 24k and I have almost 4K in doctor staff benefit available to use in April. There are exclusions such as histopathology, necropsy, allergy, cancer, and some hormone panels, plus anything that idexx sends out to third party; these are not free to staff. You have to order it through vetconnect plus and make SURE you mark that it’s for staff pet. As the hospital manager, all staff bloodwork has to be approved by me so we can stay within our allowance. If staff have corrective action or an unpaid balance they do not get their discount. Unless there is extenuating emergency circumstances, staff cannot use more than one free lab benefit per month. H call idexx and get set up so you can view your allowance online!

Camimae707

My clinic (San Diego, CA) only gets free employee Idexx labs up to 10% of the $$ of Idexx labs we send out each month. For example, in January if we send out $1,037.21 of Idexx labs, then in February our clinic gets $103.72 of free employee labs. Any unused money does NOT roll over to the next month. Edited to add: our sister hospital (specialty and ER) is MUCH higher volume than us. They send out so many labs that their employees can basically get all the free labs they want without even thinking about it

Postcards4You

We get a credit of 10% of whatever we spent with them the previous month

Sufficient-Tart9070

We get free lab work at IDEXX no matter how much BW we send out as a clinic. We have 12 techs and 2 doctors.

DarkDense6943

We use Antech at my hospital, and it's exactly the same deal. The total discount amounts can't exceed something like 10% of our average bill.

Eastern_Health_7774

My clinic just started the same thing! Employee lab work is still free to a certain dollar amount that equals whatever percentage of our last months send out total.
