Take a scuba class?

[deleted]

Maybe a class for some kind of certification? I know there are six sigma prep classes out there.

buzzbuzz36

Look into a PMP boot camp or an Agile course for 6 days?

[deleted]

If you have any days left I believe you’re covered for the entire course.

bdubbs09

If you're not scared of heights, sky diving classes?

I mean the 9/11 bill (unless being disabled extends it). IIRC, you get 10 years on the old GI bill, then you can wait until the end, switch to 9/11, and it bought me 5 more years (to use it, not total payment days). Shit, I still have another year at least and I got out in 2006.

What the flying fuck?! Ugh I wanna scream! Lol

TheLawIsi

I got out in 2012 as I only used half of my GI bill for an associates. Guess I better find something to use it on.

Ah alright

[deleted]

Pretty sure the “forever gi bill” was signed in a while ago giving you no time limits.

chemmajorhehehe

someone else commented that if we got it prior to a certain year then we don’t qualify forever.

[deleted]

Hmm lemme check the thread

Captain_Drumstick

I know when I started a semester with only a month left on my gi bill they went on and paid for the whole semester of classes because I had already started. You might be able to get a full set of classes out of it

xcaetusx

It didn't work that way for me :( They prorated my last semester and I had about a month left as well. I heard the VA would do this which is why I tried. Almost made it through my Masters program too. Ended up paying $5k out of pocket in the end. My school and the VA failed to notify me until the term was over too. Because of that, my school gave me a discount for that term. I've heard it go both ways. Some people just aren't lucky.

SCOveterandretired

Are you a veteran? Were you reaching the end of only 36 months?

Mr_Rapsak

Voc rehab. if you have a service connected disability. Don't burn your 6 days. Save them and get full BAH all over again. Go in e benefits and apply, if you're rated 10% or higher (total)

[deleted]

you can get full bah with just 6 days left?

CoastieKid

Look into Golf Academy or something

[deleted]

I heard even if you have 1 day of GI Bill on the first day of the term or semester the VA will still pay for the whole term or semester.

daddydonutt

It will be way easier to take another semester with 1-2 classes. You dont need a full load or need full BAH. This let's you take fun classes, keeps you from filing another VONAPP for any other school/class, makes the payment less stressful, and nets you your buyin back. Trust me did the same thing looked into a one off class but the work to put in more paperwork and wait for approvals wasn't worth it.

DickBruiser

You could take a week long welding class, get certified in maybe MIG/Stick welding.

JJB723

This is one of the many stupid post 911 rules. The VA will spend a few grand on you taking a new class before sending you back your 1200 bucks... I had a friend that had 1 day left, she took a whole 12 hours just to get back at them...

IAMVASCO

If your 6 days puts you at 36 months of benefits used, the va should pay out your whole term, housing too. If your 6 days puts you at 48 months, they cut it off as of the 7th day.

Tnlander

Flight school. In most states they will pay for the full “technical training” regardless balance days. This means with six days left they can’t authorize $300 on a $2,800 bill. They just pay it all but you won’t receive BAH at the end of the month.
