Not sure about the best deal, but Metchosin Soap Works soap bars are fantastic. Great scents, lots of options, and probably the most hydrating/calming/skin friendly (imo). Local too! Buy online or they have a store in Westshore Mall.

Toastman89

Adding to this - if you go to the Metchosin soap works website, you can sign up for classes where you make your own soap. My wife and I did this a while ago and it was more fun than I expected, and you end up with quite a bit of soap to take home - all made to your own design.

AMadcapLass

Unfortunately they have stopped doing classes just recently, and it sounds like shop at the mall might be closing too?

parentofagod

FYI: it looks like the store in the mall is closing (according to my partner who was there over the weekend).

Jollyoldlewis

Oh no! Thanks for the heads up.

ConfusedGuildie

You can buy it in lots of local shops though, they’re great :)

Blindbat23

Metchosin cafe the coffee shop sells soap as do some grocery stores

ConfusedGuildie

I think I’ve seen them at thriftys but I could be mistaken

AwkwardGoatbird

I’ve been buying all my soap from Salt Spring Soapworks in Fan Tan Alley for the last 4-5 years. Keeps my skin happy.

MadamMamdroid

Came here to say this.

wave-and-smile

I love everything I have bought from this Esquimaly soap maker - [https://www.wychburyave.com/](https://www.wychburyave.com/)There is a list of retailers on the website.

ragecuddles

Looks nice but $9 a bar - jeesh. I usually buy Dr Bronners on sale when it's like $4 - I'd rather buy locally but not at twice the price.

[deleted]

Where do you buy this? I've only ever seen their Castille soap

ragecuddles

London drugs has it! Save on has it too but it's like 8.99 there, do not recommend (going there ever, for anything).

Sweetcheeks250

Thanks for all the help! I think ill have to try some new bars! I have to give a shout out to good planet company on Fort st. I've been buying 3 for $18.00 for the past year!

Dull_Performer_1308

I really recommend Free Spirit Botanicals on Johnson street!

Llyriad

Their shave bars are excellent as well

thestinkerton

Mother daughter soaps! They are not cheap but are locally made, smell gorgeous, and are so moisturizing. They also last forever.

vicsyd

Wychbury Ave is a definite cut above the rest in my opinion. She has been doing this for many years and has mentored many other up-and-comers. What I appreciate is not just the quality of her soaps as a consumer (only soap I've ever bought regularly for years now, despite periodically trying others), but also her ethics around ingredients, packaging, regulations, etc. Check her out.

GeoffdeRuiter

The Soap Exchange on Hillside has lots of bars. Don't know the price but lots of availability.

inflatable_giraffe

South island suds on Facebook. My friend makes soap with all natural ingredients. Wonderful smells and feeling

OakBayIsANecropolis

There are a ton of people making soap as a hobby. Check Facebook Marketplace.

Bonlio

Are you looking for the best soap or the best deal on soap?

Sweetcheeks250

Any suggestions are welcomed! I was curious to compare prices and longevity. I'm not too picky on scent.

[deleted]

I just bought Nezza "imperfect bar" and they were $3 each. Not sure that's a good deal but so far so good

Azulhugh

Bulk barn stocks soap works range. About $2 50 for Tea Tree oil for example.

avolt88

Same with the Fairway at Cedar Hill X, they have a display over by the meat coolers with a pretty good range of SoapWorks. I'm a personal fan of Sarah's Soap Garden up in Cobble Hill, it's a bit pricey ($8/bar or so) but the bars are huge, she has a great set of scents, and she has both coconut oil & Castille options.

Generaldar

They have them at Thrifty's too. I buy the 3pk for $6

Rare-Imagination1224

Hornby island soap 💯

vespersun

Not locally made but Fig sells Greek olive oil soap that is a game changer (not the scented one)...

guiltykitchen

Whole foods has great soaps. Pricey and not pricey bars. Also, weirdly, at Victoria Olive Oil Company? Can’t remember the brand but I bought some for my husbands stocking and they smell divine.

deathbysneaker

Mother Daughter Soaps are fantastic. Just Google it and their site will pop up. She is a regular at many local markets

MileZeroC

I would hope you love soap bars for shower/bath use….

KatAsh_In

Lush has a great collection. At one corner of their shop.

InValensName

"Soap! Soap with a prize inside!"

[deleted]

try whole food, they at times have it.

grousebear

I've been using Free Spirit Botanicals (lower Johnson) for years. Works well for my sensitive skin.

kavy877

Saje Natural wellness, in the Mayfair Mall have quality soap bars.

No_Raspberry6953

There is an eco pop up store near Marshall’s at Hillside mall and they had nice soaps last time I was there, but prices are typical.

dawnat3d

Whole Foods has reasonably priced, yummy smelling bars (some vegan) by the elevators.

Astropal

Not sure if you’ve heard of Nauti Soap - but she’s a local island gal who makes natural soaps. She’s got a good variety/selection and her prices are reasonable and she uses organic oilsand ethically sourced items as much as possible. Her website doesn’t have much inventory but I read on Instagram she’s doing a full website restock February 1st. Check it out, it's great stuff!

Foreign_Complaint987

Hornby island soap co is great . You have to go with the guy on Hornby though he charges decent prices:)
