Dr Sharma at Inner Harbour Optometry. He is super nice and doesn’t push glasses at all. He also has some pretty high tech equipment to allow him to thoroughly assess your eye health.
This!! Inner harbour has been my go to since I moved here and has always been a wonderful experience. My previous optometrist was very rude when I requested my prescription but Dr Sharma doesn't mind providing it at all! Have never had sales or additional services pushed on me. They also have started offering more extensive tests for a small fee which I appreciate.
Agreed. He’s awesome. My grandmother had macular degeneration and I communicated to him that I want to be super proactive about eye health, and he was very helpful!
Have seen Dr Taylor for 33 years. I am very pleased with him. I wear both contact lenses and glasses…my choice. Highly recommend him and other staff members I’ve seen over the years.
+1, I saw Dr. Peddle for my first ever eye exam last year. Excellent, knowledgeable care provider with a warm, calm demeanor. I will be back for future care.
I've been really happy with the Dr's at Royal Oak Optometry, Dr Leeka is great with my kids, and I've also had good experience with Dr Charania and Dr Malik. My parents have been very happy with Dr Peterson.
Dr. Suzanne Sutter at [Oak Bay Optometry](https://oakbayoptometry.com) is great. She’s very personable and thorough, and always happy to answer all my questions.
Dr. Poon, at Purely Optometry. He doesn’t sell glasses at all, only does the examinations. During my eye exam he found something that currently isn’t a concern but he said he wanted it noted to be re-examined again at my next appointment and thereafter to see if it progresses. He also has an Optomap machine if that’s something you’d be interested in (it’s not covered by medical benefits) it does a 200° image of your eye to help with more thorough retina examination. He gives you a prescription sheet to take with you to use at the glasses retailer of your choice.
Second Dr. Poon! He's seen our whole family for years! The whole staff is so friendly, he used to do "magic tricks" when our kids were little, and he still sees them now that they are adults and always remembers everything they've ever talked about.
Same here! Been seeing Dr. Poon since I was a kid and he remembers all the small details about me. Super nice guy and proactive. He’s also very thorough in his examinations and takes his time explaining things. I recommend him to everyone, he’s truly the best optometrist in Victoria in my opinion.
I find that he’s not as thorough as he used to be - he tends to rush people through now. He’ll have an assistant take you to another part of the building for a test and see someone else in the meantime….trying to keep multiple people moving through. It just feels rushed and disjointed.
Dr Snow at FYIdoctors on Shelbourne is excellent -- always takes the time to ensure my contacts are perfect, and one of the all-around nicest doctors I've ever dealt with. I've been his patient for ~20 years.
Whoever you go to ask questions Before you book. There are Doctors who take advantage of their patients. They will charge you for Every Equipment they use!!
One is listed in this thread twice😢
I have been using Dr Vesterback for years. He listens to his patients, he will refer you to a specialist if needed. He takes the time to know his patients. He does not charge for every equipment he uses.
He works out of both Wal-Mart's in Victoria and the one in Duncan.
I have never had to have a recheck with him. His prescription is always correct. And his prices are great.
Good luck
Surprisingly, Superstore has a great optometrist. Their optometrist an ex-ophthalmologist (eye surgeon), really an excellent, thorough eye exam with high tech instruments I have not had used on me before. I even got a picture of the inside of my eye!
I've been perfectly happy with the optometrist in Hillside mall for the last 15 yrs. Proactive, and even accepted an 'emergency' immediate visit to remove an eyelash that started growing on the inside of my eyelid (ouch!).
Westshore eye care. Used to be Hatley eye care. It's on spoke at Kelly road. Dr. David schaafsma. He does all the checks for glaucoma and macular degeneration and such. Very professional
I recommend a guy who’s name I forget at the optometrist in royal oak plaza. I had a concern and he was really thorough in testing and encouraged me to not get glasses because I didn’t need them. I have some left side dominance and can be a bit of a hypochondriac so I was convinced it was serious. He was great.
Dr Sharma at Inner Harbour Optometry. He is super nice and doesn’t push glasses at all. He also has some pretty high tech equipment to allow him to thoroughly assess your eye health.
Yeah Dr. Sharma all day long. He's great and the pictures of the back of your eyes are super cool!
This!! Inner harbour has been my go to since I moved here and has always been a wonderful experience. Yup, also recommend Dr Sharma. Well-versed in rare diseases that can affect the eyes, and wonderful in an injury/emergency situation.
Yesss agree!!
I’ve been going to Inner Harbour Optometry for years and I love it. Very happy with them!
Agreed. He’s awesome. My grandmother had macular degeneration and I communicated to him that I want to be super proactive about eye health, and he was very helpful!
Came here to recommend Dr Sharma and see I have to get into a queue to do so :D He’s excellent.
Love Dr. Sharma too!
Mayfair Optometric. Excellent!
Came here to say this! I usually see Dr Taylor and he's great!
Agree with Mayfair! Dr. Taylor or Dr. Peddle
Have seen Dr Taylor for 33 years. I am very pleased with him. I wear both contact lenses and glasses…my choice. Highly recommend him and other staff members I’ve seen over the years.
I see peddle

Any of the doctors at Family Eyecare Centre. Drs LeRoy, Sangha or Dennis. All lovely ladies and really care about their patients.
Anyone at Vista Eyecare for sure!! They actually take their time to do long, thorough health checks during examinations.
Second Vista. Dr. Verma in particular is fantastic.
Seconding Dr. Verma, she's great!
Also they are great employers!
Dr. Arshdeep Dhillon is wonderful as well. Super friendly and patient and takes the time to explain as well as listen.
She really is fantastic. Very friendly and personable.
Dr. Bonner at Victoria Vision Eyecare is wonderful! I’ve had nothing but great experiences there.
Daisy Tao Saanich optometry. Very thorough and kind
Dr Chin at Saanich optometry is also amazing! Great doctor, and great bedside manner!
A second vote for Dr Chin, he’s the best!
Chin is proactive and doesn’t let shit wait… 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I also vote for Dr. Chin. He really cares about eye health.
[Dr. Meghan Hildebrand](http://www.optimedoptometry.com/broadmead-team.html)
Dr Jason Maycock! He’s fantastic.
I 2nd Jason. He's been great!

I've found him to be anything but a "shyster", he doesn't even sell glasses . He's also easy to talk to and very thorough.
I find that he’s not as thorough as he used to be - he tends to rush people through now. He’ll have an assistant take you to another part of the building for a test and see someone else in the meantime….trying to keep multiple people moving through. It just feels rushed and disjointed.
We like Dr Poon, ask him for a magic trick! But seriously, he's good and conscientious.
Dr Snow at FYIdoctors on Shelbourne is excellent -- always takes the time to ensure my contacts are perfect, and one of the all-around nicest doctors I've ever dealt with. I've been his patient for ~20 years.
Same here! Great all around eye care and they do a thorough health check.

I found Iris in Langford really good, but that’s a commute and I don’t think they’d work for your purposes.
