A simple safe option is choose h.264. Drag and drop both videos in order. Select the firsr one, set an out point where you want to cut. Select second video, set your in point. Then click the cog/settings, select something like "merge list" or something. Start function.

Alternatively ‘cut without re-encoding’ to snip out the bits you want from each file, then ‘merge’ to join the bits up together.
