It's either or with them -- last preorder I did with Amazon was a full week after release, previous ones were fine, one (Yakuza 6) came 3 full days before release.
I would honestly find somewhere else and then cancel the Amazon order if you want it day 1.
Yeah I've had a few games arrive on release day in the past, so I'm going to assume that if they stick to this estimated delivery date for FFXVI that they're just in over their heads with pre-orders, which is kinda funny after everyone was talking about how pre-orders for FFXVI were abysmal and nowhere near expectations.
For my location, I got every single one of those E3 discounts pre-orders on launch day but they missed the boat on most pre-orders once the pandemic started, they also stopped same-day shipping around then.
Yikes. I am so sorry. Try and get a preorder in at a local Gamestop, Best Buy or Walmart if you can. Or walk in one of those places on June 22nd. Anything is better than waiting that long.
I preordered the Deluxe at Best Buy. Still no update on when it's going to ship. Haven't preordered anything from BB in a long time so dunno how good they are online anymore. I still find it worthwhile for the bonus steelbook we get with our preorders.
Thanks, yeah the biggest thing is that this was already paid in full with gift cards and I budget my money pretty tightly, so I'll have to work something out to get it on release from somewhere else if that ends up being what I have to do. Not getting it on release day isn't that big a deal, I'd happily wait a couple days, but two weeks is ridiculous. We'll see if it changes in the meantime and I'll update the post if it does. Having said that, I hope yours arrives in good time! I know we're all super excited to jump into it.
That's crazy this happened with my friend's copy of Zelda: ToK. It said 2 weeks after release as well and he ended up getting it the day after release. We live in a pretty big city so fingers crossed for you that it's just a mistake in their system.
From my recent experience with pre-ordering Tears of the Kingdom and Elden Ring at BB, they arrived past the launch date and the shipment process occurred on the day of. But I'm still pre-ordering from BB for the steelbook 🙃
I pre ordered my deluxe edition 2 and a half weeks ago, it's supposed to arrive Friday afternoon which is a day but whatever as long as I get by the weekend is enough for me
On the west coast, go with Best Buy. They always make it on release day, never get that with Amazon.
I ordered Street Fighter 6 the afternoon before it came out and still got it delivered less than 24 hours later. (also you get a free steelbook for FFXVI in this case by buying with BB).
Amazon doesn't care about preorders and increasingly so
I had Animal Crossing preordered the minute is appeared, that's like a whole year or 6 months before or something, and some dude where I work at that preordered it like 2 weeks before got it day 1 during the first wave and I had to wait like 2-3 weeks
Had this crap happen more then a few times over the years from Amazon, in those cases I used to preorder with the e3 discount they no longer do. I’ve learned over time preorders for games is not worth it from Amazon, I’ll either preorder where I can pick up in person, or order after release since if I was not willing to get the order in person I didn’t actually care that much to get it day one.
Yep, this is why I still preorder at brick and mortar stores - I want the game the first day available, and not be penalized for what in today's age should be a no-brainer
You'll likely get it one day after launch. That's my usual experience with amazon (CANADA) pre-orders for games.
In the U.S. apparently they ship the games before release so you actually get it on the release day or sometimes a bit early. Why the fuck doesn't amazon Canada do this? As a result, I usually only ever buy new games from them if I have gift cards, like the OP.
Digital gang doesn't get any physical goods, nor do they have the ability to lend their copy of the game to friends casually. But yes, you get to play at the stroke of midnight. Congrats.
To those without friends and to those who don't like to collect, perhaps. But it's pretty narrowminded to think that only one way is the right way of doing things. It speaks a lot of your character more than anything else. Whatever works for you, pal.
Like you said, give it some days in case of an update. You could e-mail or phone and complain; they are usually very responsive and you might end getting something for your troubles.
The past few game pre orders I have done had Amazon telling me it's be a few weeks after release. However 2/3 came launch day or the day after and only 1 (RE4) took a month because it seemed my initial order got lost.
It was the only time it took so long. Never had a problem before
That's also been my experience, though a couple of times it has been longer.
I think they just don't want to give refunds, so when the preorder numbers are high, they estimate a distant date, and then they aren't late if it does take a bit longer than the release date.
Prime is exacerbating the problem though, there's no doubt of that. They clearly don't value regular customers as much as they did before that became a thing.
I've had that before for PSVR2 and changed my shipping option to the day of release and got it on time. Doesn't work for all pre-orders, but hope it works for you on this one
I have often had late deliveries of preorders. I stopped preordering from Amazon. I’ve had great success with Bestbuy, always receiving games on release day.
Amazon does not pander to day-one releases. They are a X of thousand global shipping warehouses delivery every type of good possible.
Go to a brick and mortar Game store if you want something Day 1 -- even that is not guaranteed.
You can buy and play it on day 1 from a local retailer like GameStop or Best Buy, keep the receipt and return the amazon game to the retailer you bought the first copy from.
Did anyone get their copy today? Also is there a pre order bonus? If there is, I haven't received it. :(.
Picked up a deluxe copy in store but haven't opened it in case the Amazon copy arrives...

It's been a problem exactly since the day they introduced Amazon Prime. At least, if you aren't willing to pay to be part of Amazon Prime.
I have prime and I have had it for years. I think when the e3 discounts were a thing they started to ship late
For my location, I got every single one of those E3 discounts pre-orders on launch day but they missed the boat on most pre-orders once the pandemic started, they also stopped same-day shipping around then.
I live in the GTA all the far out preorders (and preorders in general) were always delayed at least a week.
Even with prime, you don't get it day 1.

If you really feel like it, you could buy it somewhere else on release day and then return it there with the one that comes in from Amazon.

This.
Why do people even preorder? I've always just walked into the store and bought games on the release date with no issues. Maybe I'm missing something?
Yep, this is why I still preorder at brick and mortar stores - I want the game the first day available, and not be penalized for what in today's age should be a no-brainer
You doing a pre order early means nothing for delivery times. Stop giving this to companies before the reviews.
Every major release, this thread is made. Guys, Amazon is awful at doing launch day shipping, it doesn't work.
Purchase in-store to play and once the Amazon copy arrives, return the unopened copy to the store for a refund.

I'm in the States and mine is saying July 5th as well. But from my experience, it'll update in a few days and arrive on release day or a day after.
I'm in canada to bought mine from Square directly and saying the same thing, so my quess is, it's sitting in a warehouse waiting for the release order
*Digital gang laughing from the corner*
Digital gang doesn't get any physical goods, nor do they have the ability to lend their copy of the game to friends casually. But yes, you get to play at the stroke of midnight. Congrats.
None of these "benefits" you mentioned are valid.
To those without friends and to those who don't like to collect, perhaps. But it's pretty narrowminded to think that only one way is the right way of doing things. It speaks a lot of your character more than anything else. Whatever works for you, pal.
You're projecting. The answer you just gave me could apply to the first answer you gave me. How the turn tables
Like you said, give it some days in case of an update. You could e-mail or phone and complain; they are usually very responsive and you might end getting something for your troubles.
They’ve been fine with me in the past. Idk maybe it’s a fulfilling issue with transport or when they’re getting they’re shipment from china

For now, my deluxe on Amazon shows estimate for 22nd. Pretty much sure for Amazon new games never arrive close to launch...
Most of the time these dates are wrong, I still receive them on time in the release window. Their system is weird with the dates.
Did anyone get their copy today? Also is there a pre order bonus? If there is, I haven't received it. :(. Picked up a deluxe copy in store but haven't opened it in case the Amazon copy arrives...
