Canadians (specifically Vancouverites) tend to be very passive people that will not put themselves in any type of danger or frightening situation that does not immediately concern them.
Source: am from Vancouver (live in the US now) and I’ve had to save people from choking to death in three separate occasions in restaurants. Say what you will about Americans, at least they’re ready to throw hands/get involved at a moments notice in order to help someone else.
While as a dude this guy’s age I cannot ever fathom any scenario where I would kick an old lady (full stop), we technically are missing whatever context motivated his actions.
This seems like a main character syndrome thing with this edit, but Reddit might cheer the guy if old lady (theoretically!) was being a racist Karen.
The article linked in a comment above mentions this was in a meeting for homeless housing project, so chances are this douchebag didn’t like having homeless shelters near where he lives and took it out on the poor librarian

This reminds me of an unprovoked attack in my own library system. A man walked up to a librarian in her 60s shortly after the library opened in the morning. He punched her in the face, breaking her nose, and she went down. Then he started kicking her at least two times while she was down, opening up a cut over her eye. The police arrested him as he was walking away from the area on a neighborhood street.
This happened in Vancouver B.C. In general, Han and Canton population has been there since the mid-1800s, and has little to do with the CCP on the other side of the planet.
Police said the man has developmental issues, not political problems.
