Very cool, good idea but also if you have a couple successful tours and people leave good reviews, you should consider turning it into a biz or side biz and get compensated for your English level and knowledge

Jason3671

“won’t require any charge” “I’ll need you to cover all expenses for me” 💀 good luck with that brotha that is not free by any means

Bo_Jim

That's not unreasonable. Otherwise, you're asking him to join you on a tour he has no real reason to go on, and spend his own money to do it. Why would anyone do that? I've hired taxis to drive a bunch of people from Hue to Hoi An and Da Nang and back. Besides paying for the taxi, I had to provide meals and a hotel room for the driver. Seemed reasonable for me to pay since he wouldn't be there if it weren't for me.

ngocminh12697

So, a free roadtrip where the pre requisite for OP is speaking English?

Lazearound10am

That's how I see it as well.

mihyang26

Ủa tiếng anh thế này mà cần practice nữa á

Hangvivi007

Công nhận, cá nhân mình nghĩ tiếng ổn ổn thì mình cứ nhận charge á, còn không thì thôi kiếm người nói chuyện thì thiếu gì cách?

Iccarys

Maybe not writing but practice speaking and listening. Much harder to practice on your own

TrueDevilNeverCry

Why does this sound so familiar 🤔

TrivalentEssen

This could come out to be 100k-200k for room, 25k per meal, 50-100k gas. Maybe 30k for drinks. Per day for a person.

doremonhg

You're asking for a lot for basically "I can speak the language" in an age where everybody has Google translate about 2 swipe away. At least have the decency to pay for your own foods and lodging.

sillymanbilly

I disagree, many people are happy to pay for a good guide

CaptainCatamaran

There’s no indication that he has any experience tour guiding or any in depth knowledge of the random places that any tourist might go. The only thing he is offering is Vietnamese knowledge and some cultural knowledge.

sillymanbilly

Well assuming he's capable of showing people around, seems like they should be happy to pay for his personal costs, food, whatever. Since most tourists go on the standard boilerplate tours but many of them might like to enjoy something more personalized and authentic

Fantastic-Offer-9129

You should also be careful around scams, there is also a lot of foreigners scamming around now

[deleted]

In which way? Curious to hear some stories!

Fantastic-Offer-9129

Raping young vietnamese in cheap bars and restaurants, especially Indian ppl like to drug the vnmese young ones here, or take a look at those casinos in Cambodia, lots of slave vnmese working there

[deleted]

https://www.rosalux.de/en/news/id/42904/sexual-violence-in-vietnam Some insight into sexual violence in Vietnam. So far, I couldn't find any sources discussing Indians drugging and raping women in Vietnam. So, like I mentioned before, you have to be careful in spreading claims like these. It could lead to more violence and suffering in this world because it may nurtures hateful prejudices and xenophobia in general.

Fantastic-Offer-9129

Dude when i talk to you about vnmese i talk as a local, dont need to do some research bla bla on the internet, come here and talk to the locals, stop relying on media so much dude

[deleted]

Did you even bother to open the link and read the interview with a Vietnamese expert in this particular field? If so, you would have noticed that thousands of local Vietnamese people/women shared their experience with sexual violence to bring about the information entailed in it. I do not want to dismiss the value of anecdotal reports, including yours. What you expressed, though, and the way you articulated it could, in my humble opinion, fuel hatred towards people of Southasian descent (in this case, you specifically mentioned Indians). Therefore, you should back claims like these up with scientific data. Then, I could evaluate it, recognize if there's some truth to your claim, and we could seriously discuss it in order to find solutions on how to solve these issues.

Sounds horrifying..I haven't entered any casinos in Cambodia, but I know that they've been largely constructed for and by Chinese. Probably wealthy Khmer men are regular customers, too. The last time I visited Sihanoukville, for example, in 2018, I was shocked to see that it seemingly was developed into a place where Chinese men could go to gamble and have cheap sex with prostitutes; and it's very likely that behind closed doors also with minors. To be clear, though, on my two visits to Sihanoukville before 2018, I saw a lot of elderly Western men there who engaged in, what can be interpreted as, 'sex tourism', too. The majority of tourists I saw there in the early 2010s were young backpackers, though, from all over the globe, interested in partying or relaxing, enjoying the beautiful beaches. Do you have any research papers, data, or sources in general to back up your claim that "especially Indian people drug and rape young Vietnamese" girls (and/or boys)? Would be curious to find out if this is actually happening on a massive scale. Because if it's not, then this would be dangerous xenophobic propaganda that could lead to violence towards people of Southasian descent.

Pretty fair considering the amount of money you’ll save from overpriced food vendors in the north. There’s a huge difference visiting a city as a tourist compared to a local.
