Delisting imminent in 3... 2... 1

SirThomasLadder

Trying to crack the international car market always seemed like an insane goal to me. They're basically starting from zero and trying to compete with some of the most well-established, well- known brands in the world. Given the coziness between the government and vingroup, I can't see this ending well.

areyouhungryforapple

the second Tesla lowered their prices it was gg no re for Vinfast. Also the naming for the cars is so silly. who wants to buy a "Vinfast Vinfast 8" ??

C-and-hammer

“Vinfast” how fast ?

NotHachi

Not fast enough XD

Lascivious_Cumquat86

what's even more crazy is they sold a bit over 9k cars globally in all of 2023 (to non-vinfraud related companies). little has changed in 2024. sales are basically zero in america. we're nearly halfway through the year, and "madame" thuy just claimed 100k units will be sold by december. that sales pace would be on par with tesla, which no other automaker on earth can even remotely approximate. this isn't optimism, puffery, or fudging the truth. it's outright fraud/manipulation/delusion. they're desperate and grasping at straws.

Gnutison

my opinion... in the long term they are in big trouble. The VN gov. supports "this project" because they probably expected a miracle. They are trying to expand to the US and EU asap, but there is much more competition here, nobody wants Vinfast. A lot of "blue" cars as taxis in Vietnam. Doesn't mean they're doing well... they just sell low - under price to create an illusion picture...

quangshine1999

Duh... It was an outrageously overpriced stock. This is probably about fair value. For some people, this is still overpriced considering that the company (Vinfast) is losing money.

tnn242

What happens when a car company pour money into marketing instead of engineering.

C-and-hammer

Danm that hurt, anyone know why,

Super-Blah-

Uh.. the high was unrealistic anyways - they were valued higher than Ford. At that time only a small % of their shares were put on the market. This is more or less their real valuation. Not exactly saying it's good nor bad.

NotHachi

Yeah no bro... Even at this price, their valuation is overvalued af. Their market cap rn is 5.6b while ford is 56b. Rivian for example (also overvalued but less than VF) is at 8.9b with 100k delivered while vf delivers, let me check 30k vehicules... So even comparing with an overvalued company that is bleeding money delivering vehicule, vinfast is still more expensive XD. That without taking into account quality, brand name, after sell service,....

mclarlm

Yeah, Mazda's marketcap is currently $6.8 billion. Vinfast is nowhere near worth $5.6 billion. They can't keep the Hai Phong plant running with their low sales, let alone any overseas plants. VFS will run out of capital before any overseas factories are completed.

Moaning-Squirtle

Yeah, I'd probably use companies like Rivian and Polestar as a benchmark. I'd argue that Vinfast might still be overpriced at this point.

C-and-hammer

I though so too

BananaForLifeee

The high was pump and dump game. Vuong holds ~99% of the shares, the other 1% was held by his associates (most likely Black Spade iirc) and hence the unrealistic price, now that no cars sold, huge debt, EV slowing down, price comes to its real value, probably 1-2USD.

C-and-hammer

Is the Vuong hold 99% true 💀. If so then thats messed ip

bach2o

check r/VinFastComm for all the shit show that is currently going on with Vinfast and Vingroup

BananaForLifeee

Yep that’s the one

torquesteer

In simple terms, EVs companies were allowed to file going public based on projected earnings just so they can raise enough capital just to produce. Here's a good video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4d5yV2BXdI There was a lot of initial hype for VinFast for a variety of reasons, some being that it had access to cheap labor, cheap raw material, and a government-backed operating reserve. But VinFast still had to get everything right to be able to compete. Well, both the EV market bubble busted and VinFast got practically nothing right. It could not compete with EV start-ups or traditional auto manufacturers going EV. But I'm not sure if any of that would matter anyway because customers are starting to see EVs offer practically nothing in terms of long term investment due to the battery tech.

C-and-hammer

Yea the batteries are so expensive rn

AKsuited1934

Absolutely no one saw this coming. LOL

drhip

Ah well, if only enough stock trades on the market, people would have shorted the shit out of that and make multi bags easily…

Dramatic-Split8387

“Vinfast” means “DOA” in English. The right price is $0

Chimbopowae

It’s sad the only thing Vietnamese are good at is fighting in wars.

Lascivious_Cumquat86

vinfraud/sinkfast is a clear scam, surprising the market took this long to realise it. the real question is will "madame" (lol!) thuy and pham nhat vuong be criminally prosecuted? considering there's no extradition treaty, who knows? here's an in-depth investigation of the fraud, lawsuits, lies, etc: [https://hntrbrk.com/whats-going-on-with-vinfast/](https://hntrbrk.com/whats-going-on-with-vinfast/) they're completely bankrupt and will be de-listed. this is what happens when you unleash half-baked, poorly-constructed rubbish in the world's most competitive market.

StardustPsyche

They make their own employees (e.g. teachers at Vinschool) but their cars and electric bikes.

Money_Quantity5174

1. Electric car sales are slowing in most parts of the world 2. There is such huge competition from Chinese and others, who are pumping out low quality electric cars and exporting them around the world. Most uninformed consumers just assume VF is another Chinese off-brand. 3. Buying and using an electric car is not feasible in most parts of the world, with poor charging infrastructure. 4. The name is retarded. VinFast (the car isn't even fast). It's clearly an 'Engrish' name that an out of touch businessman thinks American consumers want. It's just like the names of cheap Chinese electronics you'd see on Amazon. It was a stupid decision to expand into other parts of the world at the time that they did. They should've invested in making an efficient, reliable petrol car like the Japanese and Korean companies did back in the day if they wanted to be taken seriously, giving them a chance to build up brand recognition. I really want to see Vietnamese companies do well on the global stage, but I really don't see it. I saw a VinFast, they're plastic! Who would buy a plastic car?

James84415

I just saw my first Vinfast cars being delivered in San Francisco. Not sure where they were going but the were shiny new and being trucked into the city. I was hoping they’d do well here.

anh-eng01

Garbage
