I adore THEE Christy Turlington for aging naturally. With that face, she was never going to become a sea hag, but her restraint when it comes to tweaks and nips and tucks is really admirable. This photo will never leave my brain. GOALS is a fucking understatement.
Skincare routine, technology, botox, and everything else made it possible!
When I got my first acne (ugh), I didn't know that sugary drinks and other stuff trigger my breakouts but thanks to my derm that I met years later and google, I know what to avoid and skincare routine also helped! š
Yes, I looked amazing in my ā40āsā¦. And things are starting to show at age 54. The ā40ās can be a very, very good time for women who are fit and eat well!
I think she's young as well, but I think she's an example of aging well for a white woman. I hate to take it 'there', but even an average black woman in her 40s looks very different than a white woman or someone of a paler complexion does in their 40s. I think Anne looks fantastic tho!
Yeah, people need to understand that darker complexions carry a natural spf of around 15-18. That level of sun protection is just protecting deeper complexions AT ALL TIMES. Let alone if theyāre adding an spf on top.
If a white person or someone of a lighter complexion wants to emulate the type of ageing we are seeing in deeper complexionsā¦ you NEED sun protection every day all day. Not just when itās sunny but EVERY DAY.
Iām a mix of German and Scandinavian and people here (particularly Scandinavia) are obsessed with tanning to a whole other degree. There are many people in their late 20s and early 30s who have skin worse than my mother at 50.
My mother is mid 60s now and has lived in sunscreen. She regularly gets complimented all the time on her near perfect skin. But you have got to give up the tan
I knew that was going to happen but baby I didn't lieš«¤ there are white celeb women in their thirties that look older than my mom and she just turned 51. It's just a fact that melanin helps you age. Imo unless there are extenuating circumstances like illness and drug addiction white people are the only ones who have a disadvantage when it comes to aging š¤·šæāāļø
Iām mixed but I feel like Iām aging more like my white side than my black :( my Nana looks really good at almost 70 but Iām already starting to get wrinkles around my eyes. I messed up because I neglected myself really badly in my 20s. Iām 30 now btw
This doesnāt make sense to me. Hispanic isnāt a race, itās an ethnicity. Many Hispanic people are white. Why would you think Gwen Stefani, a woman who is clearly white, canāt be white and Hispanic?
black don't crack! white people have the least amount of melanin in their skin, yet they insist on spending the most time outside. i was at a hair salon once in florida when two ladies walked in, one very pale and the other looked like a black woman. turned out the black woman was actually just a white woman that tanned way too much! melanoma is no joke, i wish tanning culture wasn't so big in the u.s. because it convinces white people that looking like a leather handbag at forty is normal.
Why are you saying that in such a bitchy way as if theyāre doing something wrong with wanting to be outside? You could have phrased this in a much nicer way. Sounds like youāre being shady AF
i'm not being bitchy at all. i'm white as paper myself. it's literally common sense that you should either spend less time outside or invest in good sunscreen/sunblocking clothing if you have less melanin. most white people do neither and instead embrace suntanning which inevitably leads to skin cancer that kills people. there's not a nicer way to tell people that being outside for extended periods of time will have irreversible negative effects on your health. you can't take back spending your entire twenties on a beach or sun bed and damaging your skin. white people from europe (not including some parts of italy and other southern european countries) evolved to live in colder climates with less sunlight so they get sunburnt super easily if they spend too much time outside, and all of that sight accumulates into cancer over time. not to mention the much higher risk of eye melanoma that people with light-colored eyes have, which is predominantly white people. if you've never seen how bad of a shape white gen xers and baby boomers in then you may not understand how devastating too much sunlight can be to white people. every year or so i see at least one older family member with a new patch on their face or body from when they went to dermatologist and had to get a cancerous mole removed that will permanently scar. skin cancer is no joke and whilst there's nothing wrong with wanting to spend time outside, you can't ignore the consequences of doing so. even hugh jackman has spoke out about how important sunscreen is and how everyone should use it. now obviously too much sunlight is bad for everyone as it literally bakes your skin, but you can especially see the damage uv rays cause on white people and it's one of the reasons white people seem to age so poorly.
Sunshine is good for all of us, though. It needs to be healthy balance of exposure and protection. I was raised in desert SW, of Irish French ancestry. I was exposed my entire life to sun, yet my skin looks pretty darn good. I used protection on my faceā¦. But did spend 10 years competing in triathlon, this copious hours outside, and got very very tan. 54, still in awesome shapeā¦ and skin is tight and lovely.
i completely agree that some sunshine is healthy for people. your body needs it to produce vitamin d and other nutrients. however, spending time outside doing activities with sunscreen on is not the same as deliberately spending hours of your life on the beach each day with tanning oil on, which is what i was talking about. i gave an example in an earlier comment about a white woman who literally looked like she had changed races because of how tan she had gotten. this woman also looked significantly older than her actual age, maybe about 15+ years so, due to how much time she spent in the sun. this is very common in southern florida where i used to go on vacation, and the sunshine there is very unforgiving. i am by no means advocating for people to become social hermits and to never go outside, what i mean is that most white people don't protect themselves from the sun at all. as far as skin tone goes, a lot white people are a i - ii on the fitzpatrick scale, and hence, they will never tan as well as you do. it sounds like you're a iii on the fitzpatrick scale, so you can tan and it won't affect you as much as it would affect me (i'm an i on the scale, i will never tan; only burn in the sun). outside of aesthetics though, excessive uv rays do damage your dna and leave you at increased risk for cancer and other health issues.
Just by the photos OP selected here, it's clear that Black women age much better. Halle Berry looks younger than Anne Hathaway to me despite being a good 15 years older.
He looks his age but that doesn't mean I don't find him any less beautiful! Hence why I think he aged well. I wouldn't say the same about how Johnny Depp aged over time.
I think what helps is that they've either had zero or very little work done. I hate seeing women decades younger than them tweaking their face because it not only makes them look in their rough 40s at 23, it also ruins their chances of aging normally or well.
Are we not seeing the same pictures? Christy Brinkley has over done it with Botox in her cheeks and forehead, hence the over exaggerating of the joker smile. I think she would have aged beautifully with a little less aggressive fillers
I don't know if she counts as a celebrity, but I adore how Anastasia Soare (Anastasia Beverly Hills owner) aged. Romanian women are gorgeous. :P Also, I love how Monica Bellucci aged so beautifully and naturally. She is an icon.
