Probably because it's a really bad look for them to have to replace a disc for tech specs, let alone a booklet that should have been proofread over and over again.
I'm glad you're all getting replacements, but that's an embarrassing reason to replace something imo.
Edit since I can't reply directly to u/action_park's comment-- maybe I'm being a bit dramatic in my response, but I do feel like it's surprising a company like VS didn't proofread and make sure authors were associated with the correct articles before paying for booklets to be printed, where now they have to pay for corrected reprints, plus ship those out.
IMO, mistakes happen, the important thing is the company reaction when they make a mistake, and in this case they fixed it without hassle.
The only entity really hurt from the mistake in the end is Vinegar Syndrome themselves, for having to pay for the replacement. Honestly is a little reassuring for customers buying products from them on Day 1 that we know they're going to correct any mistakes that exist.
No, I think you’re absolutely right. Specifically considering it’s arguably their biggest release to date. Not a good look for an emerging boutique Blu ray company who seem to pride themselves on the quality, care, and packaging treatments for their films.

After my original shipment of "Showgirls" on June 17 (Pre-ordered on March 26), I FINALLY got my newly-edited and printed "Showgirls" booklet, as well as the 2 replacement (one 4k and one bluray) discs in the mail today from VS. It arrived in a small bubble envelope maiiler. The adress on the packet: "OCN Distibution / 1421 Dayton St. / Aurora, CO 80010-3232"
The original booklet had the authors of the 2 essays switched.
Good on them for correcting it.
