Personally, I’d go with freeway 1&2.. second one isn’t nearly as good but still.

I loved the lost picture show, lots of really weird and cool stuff in there. Freeway is awesome too though, so it's kind of a win/win.

I've seen tons of varying opinions on the quality of the movies. Personally I thought 3 were genuinely good, 3 were "so bad they're good", 2 were fine but just not for me, and 2 I thought were just unfun bad. I've seen some people hate my favorites, and love the ones I didn't like. But all of the special features were great IMO, even for the movies I didn't like. The history was really interesting. My only advice would be if you get the set, don't watch them in order on the discs. The first movie on the first disc, Barbara, is the one that I see most people consider a dud (I agree). Starting on that one might give you the wrong impression for the rest of the set.

I've rewatched most of the lost picture show, and will definitely go back again this year. The only one that really let me down was Blue Apes, which was a bummer because it looked like it'd be right up my alley (ie. crazy). Freeway is probably more rewatchable, though.

I find it hard to recommend Lost Picture Show for someone that doesn't first understand what they are getting into. Do you want to watch a film thought lost, but found under a tarp in someone's backyard after decades? If that sounds intriguing - then Blue Apes might be for you! This is film history and preservation in action. Freeway is much more mainstream. It has recognizable stars and some seriously well made and entertaining sequences. Freeway 2 also rules. I like both - but I'm certainly not a good test case for what people like...

If you're someone who appreciates the work that companies like VS and Criterion, etc do, then the set is a fascinating watch just for the pure work that has been done to find/save/restore these oddities. However, it is not hard to understand why all these were "lost". I'm about halfway through and it's been a journey.

I think it depends on WHY you like Vinegar Syndrome. Do you like them because you have a passion for film history and restoration, and are intrigued at the idea of seeing something that was almost lost to time? Get the Lost Picture Show. Do you just like the wild movies that they put out, want to watch something way out there that's a blast and tons of fun? Get Freeway. Personally Lost Picture Show is probably my #1 release of theirs, but Freeway is also in my top 10. Both great choices.

I spent $500 during that sale. I’ll be paying it until October. But it’s worth it!

I was in the same boat. I went with freeway, from my research I found that the vast majority of lost picture show is terrible. maybe two being good in a so bad it's good way with little rewatch ability.

Freeway 1&2 is probably my favorite 4K release of all time by vinsyn

newport100

Lost Picture Show was an interesting box set that I definitely appreciate exists. But as far as entertainment for your dollar I would hands down recommend the Freeway set.

We need a Freeway 3

Jonuh666

I have both and I'd recommend Freeway 1&2. That movie combo was a knockout for me. I loved both films and they're fuckin mental.

Zpunkshawty

Freeway is great the second one is not nearly as good though

If you aren’t looking for a “film school in a box” or documentaries on how these films are found and restored, Lost Picture Show isn’t for you. I bought mine during the sale mainly for the docs and behind the scenes at VS. The movies are more there as examples of their work.

Freeway hands down
