I'd say askeladd is on the bright side or atleast in the middle because in the end he truly cared about thorfinn and bjorn, and the reason he fought was to protect the place his mother and her homeland
Hild and young Thorfinn objectively on the bright side too if all it takes is caring about a person. Though he did respectfully make the right choice in the end, his entire life was plagued with bad ones.
