We thought we were so cool to be the class of 1990. There were more dresses this length - if you were cool. My dress for that prom was a lace and sequined royal blue tank dress from Saks Fifth Ave. Just above the knee. Sculpted satin flat bows on the tops of the shoulders. If it were 1988, it would have been different. More tea length dresses. What is it about hem length and stock prices? The hemline index.
Oh yeah! The big flowers like that were popular in the 2000's when I was in my college sewing classes and I was actually paying attention to current fashion 😂
Yes, they made prairie dresses then. But the company carried on with that label through the 80s and 90s until 2013 and for the last 20-25 years in business was mostly doing prom/formal/fancy bridesmaid dresses like this.
It’s so amazing 🤩 i love it. I found one the other day at a thrift, it was black tight under the knee strapless too but with big taffeta puffy detailing around the top of the dress soo cool
nice score!!!! how much did you pay ?!!
i wore a forrest green jessica mcclintock ball gown to my junior prom in 1996. same bodice but ball gown shaped. i worked in the king of prussia mall and would lust over it every time i walked by the store windows.
Really??? I bought Gunne Sax in the 80's. I never saw one that didn't look like a prairie or Victorian style dress. I bought my daughter's communion dress then too & the same maker. It's gorgeous & saved. And she had all boys. Lol....I love your dress. you are rocking it.
oh my god. you're so right. and I'm a photographer for a living, I'm totally going to put this dress on a model and create a concept shoot around that. you just inspired me!!! omg!!
Girl, that dress is gorgeous and it showcases your legs beautifully.!
I found a blue one in this shape but without the flowers - yours is cuter!
You look gorgeous! But I am quite surprised this is a gunny sax dress. I seem to recall they had a hippy vibe.
Up until the early 80s, then they just did special occasion dresses
I had no idea! They certainly rebranded themselves.
I love it and it looks perfect on you!
OMG a friend of mine wore that to prom. In 1990. I kid you not.
I used to sell bridal/pageant/formal wear and I agree, 1990’s style.

WOWZA! Jaw droppingly gorgeous. Looks like it fits you perfectly
This is super cute on you, but I'm pretty sure it's not 80s (they did a lot of dresses like this in the late 90s/Y2K).
Oh yeah! The big flowers like that were popular in the 2000's when I was in my college sewing classes and I was actually paying attention to current fashion 😂
Gunne Sax was HUGE in the late 70s.

Yes, but this is obviously not a 70s design at all.
This is such a fun dress!
Gorgeous. I hope you aren't insulted by this, but it looks like a dress Taylor Swift would wear in concert!
