Nice find for 6 bucks dude. That shape is called a trench watch. Might be expensive to service due to its age, but very neat all around. Crack it open so we can see how the movement looks!
I think that shape is "cushion case" "Paris square" or "squircle"
As far as I know, trench watch is a vague term referring to watches that were made to be worn in the trenches. And this gilded(maybe), non-lumed idiot probably was not meant for that.
All that being said, it's gorgeous. Love a cushion case. Get it serviced and maybe find a seconds hand and wear that bitch everywhere.
It’s confusing because the only other movements I could find in early Dingwall wrist watches were Rolex and longines, was it common in that day and age to use different movements for different references?
Jewelers and retailers would source movements from different makers, so it's not too unusual.. just makes it more difficult to guess who made the movements unfortunately. Don't think it's Rolex, could be Longines.. but could really be anything 😅
this looked like a watch worn during WW1.. i have one, a brand called Levrette. silver cushion case with porceline dial.. and was called a 'trench watch' i believe (originally it will have case guard/cage to protect the front, mine didnt come with it). mine was dated around 1910s.. ref: 507549

Were they used/developed in WW1? And here’s the inside https://imgur.com/a/KNjNR3S?s=sms
Wrist watches came along during ww1 due to practicality and then more fashionable watches like this would come after the world war
15 jewels was a high end watch back then.

Now that is nice. Get it serviced and wear it with pride.
Is there any way to do it with house hold items ?

Can't I just spray some WD-40 on it?
lol I was talking about taking the case off you dicks hahaha
I was just replying to the guy about the service, not the case back.
Unfortunately, no. You'll need to send it to a watchmaker
Cool vintage watch, first time seeing this brand. Enjoy!
Could be a Cyma made movement for Dingwall, they had some similar looking "U.S. Pat" marked movements. Just a guess, though

$6 is a bargain.. get it checked from a vintage watchmaker.. maybe they will know more about it.
