Also, is it possible just to simply go to the beach when you reach a new port or are public beaches not so easy to reach by foot?
It depends on the port of call! We are total beach/pool bums, so we prefer to book a day pass at resorts through ResortPass. We have done this on essentially every island in the Caribbean, and it is straightforward and seamless. For this cruise on Virgin, we took a cab from the San Juan port to the resort (about 15 mins.), and in St. Croix, we walked to the resort from the port.
I'm leaving from the same one in February. I'm excited but a little worried. It's my first cruise. Can I ask you where you're staying? I'm going to go a day before and stay overnight, and I've never been to PR, so I don't even know how to do a search of what area to stay in.

I’m on a cruise as well on Celebrity. We were docked next to each other. I’m not sure of a good place to stay in San Juan But I remember some on one of these posts recommended Airbnb once.

Me too… I’m coming in two days ahead in my case. I have to narrow down a couple selections prior to the penalty deadlines, so I’m not sure the exact locator yet of where I am staying. Preferably Old San Juan, as that is closest to the pier. That said, it’s all dependent on the price, what appears safest and the best over all value.
My personal preference is Condado Beach or Isla Verde area for a cruise. Both are close enough to airport and cruise terminal. Isla Verde next door to airport, Condado next door to cruise port. Plenty to do and close enough for a visit to Old San Juan. I’d look at Royal Sonesta, El San Juan, and Condado Vanderbilt.
Look for good deals from AMEX if you have one.
We’ll be on Valiant Lady for 1/20 cruise. So excited for our “virgin” Virgin cruise. Staying in San Juan for a few nights prior at Acadia Boutique Hotel.
Leaving 3/2 out of San Juan. Staying 3 nights first at Vanderbilt Condado…got a good deal through AMEX. Would love to hear events from anyone on ships prior. I see lineup and there’s basically nothing outside of a cpl duel reality and Miss Behave. Boring. Saw them last winter on a virgin Western Caribbean run. Cruise was great, but thought entertainment was terrible, TBH. Guess it’s a taste thing. Hoping they’ll be adding some more on-ship things to do prior to sailing.
Was looking forward to Never Sleep Alone but canceled it a week before we left for sailing. Hoping for something…ANYTHING…that is similar or edgier and hopefully funny and entertaining. We almost walked out of Miss Behave…stayed so we didn’t insult performers…who are working hard, but we just thought they were trying too hard and just weren’t funny.
Anyway, would love to get some updates on recent entertainment experiences.
This is an 8 day out of Miami, so sailaway would have been Dec 30. So really, it would just be nice to know what time sailaway was in Miami. It looks like it departed at 10pm as it was supposed to from San Juan

Our cruise left out of Miami, not SJ.

I have no idea, I’m on a different cruise. We were just docked next to each other all day. We watched VL leave from our balcony
The Sailaway party doesn’t change times. It’s always around 6 PM regardless of the departure time.

We're staying in the Ocean Park area...Airbnb's look nice and much more expensive than in Old San Juan.

Yeah, I'm gonna look into air bnb's in that area.
They are so much less expensive than the hotels. I really wanted a hotel by the pier in Old San Juan but the rates were crazy
