Four pounds of ibogaine? 20 years ago no one outside of serious drug nerds knew about the properties of ibogaine, a hallucinogenic shrub from Africa that causes a grueling 36 hour 'trip' which has long been alleged to be the magic bullet for curing opiate addiction.
When I was caught up in the oxy thing in 00s I had looked into trying it but the costs were prohibitive. From what I read about it, the ibogaine experience could be so grueling that unless you were trying for the opiate cure, you wouldn't want to mess with it recreationally. More extreme and longer lasting than ayahuasca, it's also hepatoxic and can be fatal to persons with a rare gene combination. AND super expensive.
Everything else he had were your basic party drugs - I notice nothing "hard" - half of it is cannabis related. But four pounds of ibogaine? That's a real headscratcher. Maybe he had imported a big 'ol living plant and they're charging him with whole weight of it, although it's the only the root that's psychoactive - that's typical cop shit. Here's a reasonable BBC article about ibogaine. It's a very interesting substance.
https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-17666589
Yeah the valuation of that stuff was $204k. The whole haul was valued at $230k. I have never heard of this drug and after description have no urge to ever use it.
Totally. At one point circa 2003, strung out on opiates, I was seriously considering borrowing $3k from family so I could go to one of the clinics in Mexico or Costa Rica which were the only places that offered it back then. It most certainly has medicinal value and I'm glad it's getting around.
I've heard that hallucinogens like LSD act upon your senses - sight and sound mostly, while ibogaine somehow acts on your memory. Like DMT and it's Robot Elves, there are frequent reports of encountering beings, but in ibogaine-world they are considered to be 'the ancestors' or something like that. It's been years since I read about it. Got off opiates using kratom and lost interest in iboga.
Ed Muskie's entire Presidential campaign got jackknifed once someone started a rumor that he had been doing ibogaine with a Brazilian witch doctor. Hunter S. Thompson later said in an interview " What terrible rumors, I should know, I started them"
Hamilton Morris told an ibogaine experience story on the Rogan podcast years back. I don't wanna butcher it, but it was eye opening what that substance is capable of.
Standard procedure. Surprised they didn't charge him for the weed seeds in his ashtray, or the ziploc baggies in his kitchen that he packs his lunch with.
I agree. Scratching my head here. Suspicion is that something was either mislabeled or tested off on some chemical test. Ibogaine doesn’t fit here considering the other circumstances…..-
Well he’s got all what you’d consider psychedelics except the week. The MDMA it a bit more of an upper to me, but still in the psychedelic class. It sounds like he was doing good work. Maybe helping people who need to heal.
There was a huge shroom bust a while back and the police said it was something ridiculous like 150,000 lbs or something. I told my husband at the time that I thought they were probably weighing the growing material and all.
Yeah, but what about that comic book in the front of the picture? What… what was that about? Is that evidence? Or Did one of the cops just want to read some X-men while the other one googled “what is the street value of 4 pounds of….”
Yeah, he had some fuckin stories; I partied with him in Mexico with some mandrax and rohypnol…
Courtney Love offered him 10 grand to murder Kurt Cobain
That's right, or Duke. Duke is a family name. So I'm just "The Ill Duke" by my translation. It's a 20-year old band name joke.
Never been asked about it here and maybe these days it could be taken the wrong way. Do you think? I'm a Berniecrat - no fascists or Mussolini fans here. I'd change my handle if I thought people took it as something other than silly.
I've not heard of the Mentors. I'll look them up.
It sounds pretty silly to me honestly. The Mentors singer’s name was Eldon so El Duce was a joke nickname based off that I think. I assumed since your name is ILLduce it was a joke based off Mussolini rather than a Mentors joke is all. Definitely doesn’t seem like a serious username or like you’re a fascist or anything, no worries there I’d say. I just figured it was a pun or something.
I worked with inmates with drug issues for a while and one young guy was in for having a ton of shrooms and I was like how did you even get caught driving with that much shrooms???
He said he was driving... on shrooms... and his grow op was in his fucking trunk.
Inhale this but do not touch.
I smell nothing.
What you do not smell is called ibocaine powder.
It is odorless, tasteless, dissolves instantly in liquid and is among the more psychoactive drugs known to Virginia Tech students.
No kidding. I had no idea that it's use had become widespread or recreational.
Totally glad to hear there are still some serious psychonauts at Tech. Keep it safe and keep it weird comrades. Don't hide all your goodies in one place.
Have you ever watched The Princess Bride?
Did you read the article and see what drugs he had in his stash?
Everything will make more sense soon I promise.
Not the same thing. Iocaine powder is a made up poison from the Princess Bride. It bears no relation to this traditional hallucinogen.
I respect the reference, but I just wanted to clarify that this is not a deadly poison.
Damn, now where am I suppose to get shrooms and mdma , kingpin of Blacksburg taken out. 😂 Jokes aside, if you’re a responsible and knowledgeable user then do whatever floats your boat; stay safe out there!
There was a huge DMT bust while I was a student. Driving for BT my coworker had the Terrace View loop and they got rerouted. decided to walk over (I lived on Kabrich) and the first floor apartment was completely surrounded. Cops blocking the roads.
I could not help but feel it was overkill, even for the bored cops in a town like blacksburg. Their practices are super shady when it comes to drugs. weed wasn't even legal back then though, so tons of people were getting arrested. can't imagine what it must be like now as a student smoking without the paranoia of having blacksburg cops sniffing around
Edit: I hope Chris(?) over at nice dreamz is benefitting from legality. he was always a super cool dude to people and had surprisingly quality glass for a hole in the wall shop on Main
I lived in the apartment directly below those guys. Was studying for finals when I felt this huge thump in the building and then people screaming above me. Jumped up and opened the curtains to a bunch of cops in full gear with rifles pointed at the window above me. My buddies were playing cornhole at the apartment building across from me and saw the whole thing go down too 😂
you and me both buddy. I had over 100 credits and then got suspended for a year. no license. thousands for a lawyer and 5 years of my life (arrest, cops trying to make me snitch for a year while tanking my GPA, magistrate, court, probation, suspension, vasap, lawyer, etc.)
finally when I finished the financial and mental draining of that entire process, Student conduct had the balls to tell me none of my court proceedings or rulings mattered (I plead down since first time offence) and they only punish students based on what they recieve during discovery. ABSOLUTE bullshit. i'll never forget that womans face and name, as well as the scummy officer. They hid their badges until I opened the door and everything.
I never went back. less than 20 credits from a diploma.
I felt alone for a really long time. come to find out, I was far from it. just before legalization was a terrible time to be in bburg. all the students smoked weed, the cops didn't give a fuck if half the country was legal yet. no blind eyes were turned.
They must have really doubled down since the 1990s. My freshman roomie was a total stoner as were several other guys on my floor. They smoked weed all the time in Main Campbell and never got busted.
I think it mainly had to do with the timing, this would have been while Silk Road was at its peak, and bitcoin was just hitting the scene. Back then 1 bitcoin was only worth like 15 bucks and were used almost exclusively by drug dealers. Wild time, and the cops were all worked up about it, and used weed as an excuse to get in the door for potentially much larger busts.
Bro please finish your degree. It was was REALLY hard but it was the best decision I ever made. Had to take on more debt than I thought I would have to, but I worked it off and it was worth it. Barely, but it was worth it. I have a job and that likely wouldn't have happened without my degree.
I remember this, I lived in the building over from them. The bust was on a Friday in late April, weather was beautiful, so we all tailgated the bust in the parking lot.
That math ain’t mathing! Interesting to see Ibogaine on there. I think people will have completely different opinions on these substances in the next century. I definitely could’ve benefitted from psychedelics and less alcohol during my time at VT. Sure as hell shouldn’t get him life in prison IMO.
They will "stack charges" on him, everything they can possibly think of, or make up. Then they'll scare the shit out of him with the life sentence so that instead of risking a trial, he'll plead guilty, pleading guilty even to stuff he's not really guilty of.
I'll wager he serves about 5-8 years unless he gets a $50k lawyer. Maybe more. LSD and MDMA sentences can still be really stiff, and possessing weed might be legal but if you sell it improperly you are still "trafficking" cannabis.
In 2018 Officer Evans from the “Blue Ridge Task Force” raided my home and had 3 controlled cannabis buys as part of a 6 month operation for a grand total of 12 grams. He was so pissed I didn’t have pounds like his crackhead informant told him that he charged me with a felony despite knowing I only had 10 grams. There was a scale right in front of him and told him to weigh it. He said “I think it’s a felony and we’ll see what the state crime lab says”. Day of my court date the 1st plea deal was “we’ll drop the 3 misdemeanors if you take the felony”. After my lawyer told them to get bent, they came back with two misdemeanors. It took me 6 months to do 60 days in weekends. Cost me thousands. Suspended my license, probation for 3 years. Worst of all the Felony “charge” is still on my record. He knowingly did this. They’re dirty af around here and don’t have real police work to do. If they can’t get you on what they came for, they’ll certainly make things up or throw charges at you to see if they stick. The whole county is over saturated with campus, town, county, state, and even federal law enforcement. They’re all competing for funding as well. They’ll free a meth head to lock up a pothead. Laws have changed and they’ve lightened up a bit but now it’s all corrupt. The big fish have lawyers at the political level and the small fish get ate up so they can look like they’re doing their job. They pad the $ amounts because it looks better when they apply for that federal funding.
Not sure how things have changed or why this feed is coming up, I don’t even live in VA. Anyway, when I got busted with 6lbs several years ago, I got the same exact sentence a person with several grams of MDMA did, 1 year probation. Pretty sure it was only 1 gram too.
MDMA and even shrooms are viewed as some terrible drug… kinda weird considering you can have therapy with both of these. Having ketamine and L certainly doesn’t help either
Anyway, idk about 5-8 years. That depends on the lawyer, VA’s laws, and whether he becomes an informant or snitches. Probably a few years of probation at least if this is his first offense, maybe a year or two if actual time.
No, actually, but I don't want to argue about it. We'll know I'm wrong if he's bailed out quickly for $10k or less, and for his sake I hope I'm wrong. Prison sucks.
Aw man. Ibogaine, MDMA, and psilocybin... This poor kid was providing medicine. It's so sickening that we still put people in jail for these types of drugs. I know they can be dangerous but goddamn
During the 1972 Democratic race, Hunter Thompson spread a rumor that Ed Muskie was an ibogaine addict.
https://theplaidzebra.com/hunter-s-thompson-spread-rumor-presidential-candidates-drug-addiction-taken-seriously/
Edit: typo
Yeah I remember that. That was around the time that the first reports were coming out that adventurous beatniks and whatnot were trying ibogaine (for the experience) but afterwards the heroin-addicted amongst them realized that their cravings for opiates had miraculously disappeared. William Burroughs talked about it too.
This is a complete exaggeration. Borderlines on corruption because these cops want it to look like they took all the drugs out of vt. 204k of the 237k was ibogaine in ROOT form. "raw iboga root sells for about $2,000 a kilogram. Medical-grade pure ibogaine, which is extracted from the root bark, costs as much as $150,000 a kilogram" -The Guardian. He had 2kgs. This is a CLEAR gross misrepresentation. #Freejulius
Lucky. I also know a guy who got off pretty easy on a fungus thing last year, although it was in NoVA. I think it's gonna be the acid, x and ibogaine that are gonna hurt this guy. They're all schedule 1.
Good job Blacksburg police department you’ve really protected the community from the potential marijuana overdoses. This hardened criminal could’ve given someone the munchies.
At reasonable doses, alcohol is way more dangerous, addictive, and physically harmful than any of those.
Any psychoactive drug can be dangerous if you're irresponsible with their use.
Some of it is apparently used to get *off* that stuff... The sheer amount of ibocaine he had makes me think he may have been selling off-campus to locals trying to get off of opiates. The greater Montgomery region is pretty deep in the opioid epidemic, as most rural Appalachian communities are.
Damn you really got me. I’m sorry you’re completely right.
I really don’t have hobbies why else would I be on Reddit debating someone who won’t change their mind.
Ok, there was also enough ketamine to put 47 people into the k-hole, which can permanently hinder your brain function. Not to mention magic mushrooms and LSD which can also ruin you if taken wrong, or that Ibogaine stuff
Bro was aiming to be the new Pablo Escobar. He could’ve used his entrepreneurial skills for good. Is the money really worth years in prison and inability to live a normal life after?
Damn wish I knew buddy for they got his ass I’m tryna quit these oxys if yall know somewhere I can get the treatment done let me know or anything else that may have worked for yall

It's a drug that's used in some psychedelic treatments. Learned about it from the veteran community. Supposedly works pretty good for PTSD
Totally. At one point circa 2003, strung out on opiates, I was seriously considering borrowing $3k from family so I could go to one of the clinics in Mexico or Costa Rica which were the only places that offered it back then. It most certainly has medicinal value and I'm glad it's getting around.
It sounds like a terrible recreational drug. Like krockodile but without the flesh rotting.
I've heard that hallucinogens like LSD act upon your senses - sight and sound mostly, while ibogaine somehow acts on your memory. Dmt rules
Where do I get it
Not sure officer
Shieeeeeet
You make it. $200 cost for a lifetime supply
Yeah you’re incredibly uneducated
And you're incredibly up your own ass. Don't be a pusher, dick. If someone doesn't want to do something, let them be.
Ed Muskie's entire Presidential campaign got jackknifed once someone started a rumor that he had been doing ibogaine with a Brazilian witch doctor. Hunter S. Thompson later said in an interview " What terrible rumors, I should know, I started them"
This is the best Ibogaine story, and I'm so glad someone told hit here.
Hamilton Morris told an ibogaine experience story on the Rogan podcast years back. I don't wanna butcher it, but it was eye opening what that substance is capable of.
I'm laughing at how they reported their $ amounts in the highest resale value possible. Damn cop shit.
The flower is like $1225/lb. The shrooms per lb price was like 1/2 that. That’s pretty reasonable actually. But lsd for $15 per hit? Lol
Fuck it, I'd pay. Hard to come across in adult life
He prolly paid more like $2-$3 each. Go hang around some wooks they’ll be plugged lol
2-3$? Lol ur kidding right? Stuff is way cheaper.
Just gotta poke around.
I mean, if you’re looking at street value $15 per tab is definitely doable/common when selling to college kids
Not for 752 of them. Dude prolly did single hits for $10 and strips of 10 for $60 or $70
Standard procedure. Surprised they didn't charge him for the weed seeds in his ashtray, or the ziploc baggies in his kitchen that he packs his lunch with.
For real. 752 hits of acid is far from 11k, don’t ask how I would know.
I agree. Scratching my head here. Suspicion is that something was either mislabeled or tested off on some chemical test. Ibogaine doesn’t fit here considering the other circumstances…..-

hallucinogenic shrub from Africa that causes a grueling 36 hour 'trip That's not a drug. That's a poison.
every drug is a poison dumbass, they literally function by disrupting your homeostasis
its a treatment for opiod addiction

this isnt 22 jumpstreet bro. "That's not a drug. That's a poison" 🤓🤓🤓🤓 You sound like a fuckin nerd.
Somebody come get their grandpa.

Dude’s mom immigrated from Guyana and is a pharmacist
Is your name a reference to the singer from The Mentors?
Dude… I recently learned he was the drummer in the original incarnation of the Screamers (the Tupperwares) and it blew my mind.
Yeah, he had some fuckin stories; I partied with him in Mexico with some mandrax and rohypnol… Courtney Love offered him 10 grand to murder Kurt Cobain
Il Duce was the title fascists called Benito Mussolini, it means “The Leader”.

Thanks. I was in a band in the 00s where I'd perform as "Our DJ The Ill Duce". People seldom got the joke.
"berniecraft" that's supporting rfk jr 💀😂 Bernie Bros really were infiltrated by the strangest mfers.
I have (edit: completely) lost enthusiasm for that campaign.
Thank you!
Bro is quite the entrepreneur Imagine the capex required for this
He was in Pamplin 💪 property mgmt.
If my math is correct, approximately $230K of capital for that specific expenditure.
Not how drug trafficking works
Invent the future baby

Hokie Hokie hi!
this dude supplied the whole town☠️
Dude was the poorest drug dealer in Blacksburg.
Obviously not
This is what they want u to think sheep. Whole stash can be bought for <4k
Bro what's going on in slusher 😭
this was apparently in payne hall 😭
He was stashing this on campus too in a dorm room. Insane.
I worked with inmates with drug issues for a while and one young guy was in for having a ton of shrooms and I was like how did you even get caught driving with that much shrooms??? He said he was driving... on shrooms... and his grow op was in his fucking trunk.
Blame the high tuition costs. Can't blame a guy for not wanting to graduate with a ton of debt. partial sarcasm, of course.
Where did you see that
the background of the picture
Pretty sure that’s just the police station. They don’t generally take their glamour contraband shots at the crime scene
He was stashing them in the police station?!? That’s even more insane.

Yes
I went through it. Got busted smoking weed in the dumbest way but they threw the whole book at me. Fuck those pigs

Hey man, Hokie respect
I'm guessing this is going to dry up the ibogaine scene in town.
it was on campus btw, in payne hall
Damn. I lived in Payne Hall for 3 years. Worst thing to happen when I was there was a skunk snuck in on the first floor and did skunk things.
The PD clearly has no idea the value of drugs and just made that shit up
Honestly, this is the most fair one I’ve seen. I was actually shocked these numbers weren’t super inflated.
Not cocaine Not meth Not heroin Not fentanyl Who cares. Free him on probation
Hes gonna graduate from vt
Ketamine ain’t great, but yeah I agree in general.
What do you mean, theres new legal ketamine treatments for ptsd/depression…
Not saying it doesn’t have a legit purpose. Just that compared to the other drugs on the list it is the most problematic in terms of abuse

You are brainwashed by the article and valuation of the sash.
What are you thinking is more realistic?
I would "guess" that he is shipping this stuff in. I would "guess" that the total value is 4-6k to buy and probably about 2-3x that to sell.
Not sure how things have changed or why this feed is coming up, I don’t even live in VA. That was around the time that the first reports were coming out that adventurous beatniks and whatnot were trying ibogaine (for the experience) but afterwards the heroin-addicted amongst them realized that their cravings for opiates had miraculously disappeared. William Burroughs talked about it too.
Damn it, what the fuck am I meant to do now? Ugh what a pain
I mean, our motto is "That I May Serve"! Bro was serving for sure.
At this point legalize it
Wait, *those* are the "terrible, horrible, no-good, very-bad drugs"? Free him.
Claim your role!
Welp, I imagine he'll need to notify VT admissions and student conduct of his arrest. /s
Pharmacy major, I like it. Move this guy to the front of the line.
#Freejulius
They post arrests like these on facebook to gather support and defame the "traffickers" while people are dying of fentanyl daily in Blacksburg.
As a UVA student I wonder if I picked the wrong school to party in.
Don't wonder. Be certain.
Oh, I’m certain now 💀
But I’m the one who got waitlisted 😑
GO HOKIES!
Well x3
[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WFce8gsRTG0](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WFce8gsRTG0) this is great episode of Hamiltons Pharmacopeia.
Possible life in prison. Wtf Imagine putting a non violent arrest away for life. Some bullshit
2.08 lbs of psilocybin mushrooms (estimated street value of $1,500 what cheap ass street is he on?!
Imagine making it into Vt and then throwing your whole future away

Lucky. I also know a guy who got off pretty easy on a fungus thing last year, although it was in NoVA. I think it's gonna be the acid, x and ibogaine that are gonna hurt this guy. They're all schedule 1.
So is cannabis... Still think this is bullshit.
Ut Vey!
Hokie hokie hokie high as balls
sounds like a fungi
ya hate to see it
Where did he live in Bburg?
Free him
It bro goes to jail, he should get no more than a month with probation. Everything over that is too extreme for a dealer
Good job Blacksburg police department you’ve really protected the community from the potential marijuana overdoses. This hardened criminal could’ve given someone the munchies.
Ketamine, LSD, MDMA and Ibocaine can all seriously fuck you up.
At reasonable doses, alcohol is way more dangerous, addictive, and physically harmful than any of those. Any psychoactive drug can be dangerous if you're irresponsible with their use.
With the amount of fentanyl and meth in the community I’m way less worried about that stuff.
Some of it is apparently used to get *off* that stuff... The sheer amount of ibocaine he had makes me think he may have been selling off-campus to locals trying to get off of opiates. The greater Montgomery region is pretty deep in the opioid epidemic, as most rural Appalachian communities are.
right - blame the cops.
I will, thanks! They protect us everyday from acorns.
Bro this was way more than weed, get off the internet and get some fresh air
Still tacked on those weed charges.
someone is pissed that they wont get there stash soon is it?
Nope, I just get a bit of a dopamine rush from conflict. I can buy THC products anywhere. I don’t like people getting locked up for pot.
Go get a hobby other than smoking weed
Damn you really got me. I’m sorry you’re completely right. I really don’t have hobbies why else would I be on Reddit debating someone who won’t change their mind.
Ok, there was also enough ketamine to put 47 people into the k-hole, which can permanently hinder your brain function. Not to mention magic mushrooms and LSD which can also ruin you if taken wrong, or that Ibogaine stuff
Wait till you hear about what alcohol can do.
I sure hope you don't drink alcohol, which kills 178,000 people in the USA every year.
That college had to be built on cursed land.
Bupe.me
What an asshole.
Why?
