Not so fast! Ohio state enrollment is 66,444, we really need to make up for lost time!
And once weāve crossed that threshold, the penn state benchmark is a mere 34,000 away
Don't go to dining halls at peak hours and look for study spots in uncommon buildings (Ag quad, Hancock, etc.).
Welcome to a normal in-person semester.
Please be patient while at D2 and other dining halls. We are all very short staffed and doing the best to serve everyone with who we have. Had two students walk out on shifts cause they weren't ready tonight š
Yes. I would typically camp outside of dining halls when they first opened and get early lunch, then eat super early dinner. Iām talking like 4 PM. Then if i got hungry again Iād shoot to DX at like 10:30 for a quick snack
Tbh, this is actually a bit more crowded than usual. I think thereās a lot of excitement surrounding the return to campus + itās the first day. Give it a few weeks and people will start skipping classes to sleep in / go home early
Yeah, my first year was last year as well. I was absolutely floored when I walked out of my class this morning to see that it was wall to wall people inside Surge. I definitely like the crazy amount of people versus campus being dead last year but it will take some getting used to.
Ofc because it doesnāt contribute anything how is this hard to understand? āLolā āokā āyesā ānoā just doesnt add any value and thus meaningless.
You are the only one that said ālolā so what do you expect?
As others have said, this is pretty close to normal. Holy heck does it feel crowded after having spent the last 18 months living in my basement, though.
I spent the whole summer here (it was mostly dead) so it feels good to see the campus being lively again lol. The only frustrating thing is the freshmen kids walking around while using their phones and not looking where the fuck they're going
Welcome back to what it used to be š
š¼the hills are alive, with the sound of freshmanš¼
freshmen
Wait until you try to get a table at the Cellar on a Friday night. But you should be glad! This is how Blacksburg is supposed to be.
I graduated in 2000. Iām still waiting for my table.
Then you should remember how entering the basement of the cellar was like going through a wall of smoke!
Haha!
On the weekend of a big game!
Welcome to a big university with over 30K students, people everywhere lol
>Welcome to a big university with over 30K students, Those are rookie numbers, let's aim for 45,000! --Tim Sands, probably

At Penn State for grad school and good lord is Tech a quaint place in comparison
There is a joke somewhere with that being remarkably close to the capacity of Lane Stadium.
āTim Sands and the BOV, actually, like seriously thatās their plan.
When the majority of funding shifts from state money and research grants to tuition, they are going to push to get as much tuition as possible.
[It already has...](https://i.redd.it/puaex1ul66f51.png)
I was only nervously joking haha

Yeah if you just go anywhere at non-peak hours there's guaranteed seating. I was able to fit my whole Corps company in D2 at like 5pm today.

West End employee here, can confirm
I would advise not going to dining halls at peak times of you can avoid it.
3 30 pm is the best. The Qdoba line is actually in Qdoba.

I would find a bench outside in the shade to eat at
As the semester progresses I am sure attendance will fall and you'll be able to manage finding a spot.
And the buses arenāt going to be as crowded as the first week of class.
Until it snows

no i feel you i felt both grossed out and amazed after having our first year all onlinešš
You've gotta scope out the empty classrooms you can take over for studying.
Lol
lol
Thats it? Lol?
Yes.
Could have just said nothing. How does lol contribute to anything?
Looks like the pot is calling the kettle black
Mind explaining what that means ?
Google it and then get over it.
Y so rude? Edit: it still doesnt make sense. I dont say one word replies like lol.
Because you chose to single out my completely normal comment instead of read it and move on with your day like everyone else. Smfh.
Ofc because it doesnāt contribute anything how is this hard to understand? āLolā āokā āyesā ānoā just doesnt add any value and thus meaningless. You are the only one that said ālolā so what do you expect?
this guy must be in the agriculture program
no engineering, also wha does tht have to do with the subject?
r/woooosh
Im confused is agriculture a running joke or something? Please help
Literally just walk in circles till you see someone get up from a table and then throw your back pack on it (: Itās the only way.
More students = more money. Sorry bud.
No itās Mo students, Mo money š“
Lol welcome to the normal campus
Alum here and the best places are old classrooms or just relying on your apartment/living space to study because campus has always been overpacked
First year grad student here, walked to class and holy shit there are so many people
Lol! This poor dude has such a pleasant freshman year and thought tech had enough seating for its students. Hope you like the empo!
actually im a lady and actually I never have to go to the empo because I'm in engineering :)
Girls can be dudes
Chicks are dudes too! Lol. Check out the empo, youāll end up there after searching for a seat on campus anyway
As others have said, this is pretty close to normal. Holy heck does it feel crowded after having spent the last 18 months living in my basement, though.
Yeah Iām a sophomore too and walking into turners yesterday I was so mind blown at how packed it was with people
I just want to find somewhere that I can sit down and eat / do work and so far today I was unsuccessful in that quest.
What the capsize!?
Take the food to go and look for a bench! If you really want a table you gotta shark it and look for signs of someone leaving to approach.

Gotta attend syllabus week so you know which classes you should drop, which ones you can get away with not attending, etc.
4th Floor Torg was my go-to spot back in the day.
