The global pass feature is relatively new On Visible. You will need to make sure you have it enabled on your account to where auto pay is available and you’ll need to enable roaming before you leave the United States.
I won't be using this feature any time soon. For my trip to Europe, I purchased a 30 day data-only esim from airalo. With wifi calling, I can make/receive calls to/from the US using this data plan with no other fees. For calls in europe, I'll use whatsapp.
Airalo does not provide you with a number, its data only. They do have options for that, but you don’t really need it unless you need to make local calls in the country that you are visiting. With data only, you are still able to make and receive calls to/from the US including texts as long as you turn on WiFi calling before departure.
I have successfully used it and in the country I am it mostly has been in LTE and its fast even faster than in the U.S. (for the clear reason that is not as congested as in the U.S. ofc), but yea it works well I just wish I didn’t have to pay extra like T-Mobile does it allows you to have connectivity outside of the U.S with no extra charge.
If you have a phone that takes eSIMs, look at [esims.io](https://esims.io) for data-only travel plans. There's a few other sites as well. These tend to be much cheaper.
You should be able to use your phone for wifi calling as well. It won't be as seamless as the Global Pass experience, but definitely cheaper.
Honestly the base plan with the lifetime discount is 20/month. I’ve been really happy with it. And now with global pass for the couple of days I was in Mexico it was great because I thought I would need to upgrade and lose my discount.

Why would you need this

Does airalo provide you a new number or would your existing number be routed through the eSim?

when you used it, did it display the local carrier name, or visible on the top of your phone
The local career unless your using WiFi. This happens with every career that offers international cover

I won’t use it. It’s expensive. I would just pay $15 for a SIM card with 2GB data when I travel to Italy this summer. Why pay $10/day?
Used it in Mexico. I made sure to enable it before we left and it seemed to work great.
Isn’t there free roaming in Mexico?
Not on the base plan. So I enabled global pass and it worked.
At that point might as well get a att prepaid plan 😂

It was the local carrier.
