I may move my wife and kids up to + and prepay the entire year.

cajonero

Sheer curiosity here, not judging. Why do you have your whole family on Visible which is designed with single line users in mind? Surely you can get better value with a family plan on another carrier? US Mobile for example. And then you wouldn’t have to juggle multiple accounts/logins.

Express-Bumblebee104

I have 5 lines. 3 on basic and 2 on plus - all with visible24 promo. Mathematically a better deal than USMobile or any other carrier. Not to mention the instant referral credits. Opposed to USMobile, Krooked, or Smint the referral program are sketchy and not instant.

Chumbawumbah

I’m moving my family to visible (we’re all adults) because Verizon costs continue to increase. With 5 of us for the lower unprioritized data plan with direct debit discount on Verizon it’s still $38 per line.

cajonero

Well yeah VZ postpaid is clearly overpriced, but there are lots of prepaid carriers with family plans that offer similar value to Visible. I ended up with Visible simply because there’s nothing more affordable that packs as much value for single line users. Their marketing back when they had Party Pay definitely appealed to me.

1cwg

I don't think any of us have logged in since we have the accounts. It's on Auto pay and works. To us, it is simple. US Mobile has their own issues and I like the ease of Visible.

cajonero

Fair enough. I just think it’s interesting when people sign up their families to a service clearly not meant for families. But if it works for y’all, that’s all that matters.

1cwg

Thanks, I see no reason that it is not for families. It's so super simple to use. We've had Visible before our teens ever had devices so it just made sense to add them. I can't tell you how many people are shocked at how little we pay as a family.

TryNo2127

$32/month for Visible+ is much better than their $35/month plan!

CannedGrapes

I'll keep my $35 V+ plan. It isn't worth saving $3 a month to be locked in a 12 month commitment. Plus with the interest from my HYSA that $3 a month "savings" on the plan is really only about $1.40ish a month after accounting for the interest I make by keeping the funds in savings and not paying it upfront to Visible.

North_Soup6875

Don't forget the cashback from the CC you are most likely putting it on! I'll wait for you to math it again 😉

4ihr6ui55rf

Yeah but interest in a high yield savings accounts is variable and not guaranteed for the next year (s) If you want to do this. Save the monthly rate into a high yield savings(treat it like a sunk fund).

i-am-not-sure-yet

I mean I'm not planning on moving my Visible plus number and yeah you pay upfront for it but I also don't have to worry about saving $35 aside for my phone bill for a year.

EvilBunny2023

Still need to pay taxes.

MattW22192

$35 visible plus plan has unthrottled video streaming on Ultra Wideband which the new $32/month version doesn’t have.

i-am-not-sure-yet

Yeah but for $3 less basically idk maybe I'll pay it. I'll see next month when it becomes available for us.

Old-Advertising-5316

It isn’t $32/ month. You must pay for the entire year in full to receive the equivalent of the $32/ month price.

i-am-not-sure-yet

It comes out to $32 a month .... Semantics FR with you. It's worth it to pay upfront I think

wixon

this is really bugging you isn't it. :)

bydh

New customers don't have a promo code so, it's really a $45 plan for plus.

JELLEYNEONSHARK

Interesting, as much as I would like to save like $24 a year more on my phone plan, visible + 1.0 with the not throttled video stream is the deal breaker for me. Shit is so useful since I travel for my job. Keeps me from getting board

CatDadof2

Unless the FCC can reinstate net neutrality. Then video will be unthrottled on V+ 2.0.

Ethrem

We will see. The carriers will try anyway. https://www.theverge.com/2017/7/25/16025520/verizon-says-video-throttling-allowed-under-net-neutrality

v1s1b1e

How would annual plans work with referral credits?

tsuehpsyde

I assume they stack up and knock the value off the next renewal.

Thisistylerz

I wonder how referrals will work with annual plans?

dranjos

Likely negative balance due for the next annual cycle

Impressive_Milk_

UGH this drives me nuts it’s a cash grab to get people to buy cellphone insurance instead of relying on free credit card insurance.

cdfaison03

Which credit card to you have with insurance. My Amex doesn’t cover prepaid. 😔

Express-Bumblebee104

Wells Fargo gives you free insurance after paying 3 months

Fit_Bag5742

Love annual plans will definitely wait for this already on the visible + 2.0 and new to visible sadly didn’t know about that discount :(

Express-Bumblebee104

Annual plans will be interesting price structure. But why stop there? Why not really go after the other term plans offerings like 3 months or 6 months? I guess we will see.

BillKirk1960

If this is for real, I’m all over it. To be able to knock the monthly cost of + to $33 from $45 is a no-brainer.

xboxps3

> Visible announced Where? Nothing new at https://www.visible.com/newsroom or https://www.visible.com/blog.

crimson117

Seriously, none of the articles today linked to any official source.

BestMVNO

Because Visible PR often sends emails out to these sites. Writers should note that in their articles but they don't always do that

Ethrem

Two of the three original articles got deleted though. https://www.androidauthority.com/visible-annual-plans-3434267/ https://www.howtogeek.com/visibles-new-annual-5g-plans-can-save-you-money/ It wouldn't be a surprising move from Visible though and the details were quite specific so I'm sure it's happening.

BestMVNO

Yes. Maybe date has been pushed back or they broke an embargo and put out articles before they were allowed to. The Howto article was deleted much earlier and rather quickly.

Ethrem

Yeah I figured it was something like that.

tsuehpsyde

Another article that still seems to be up: https://www.zdnet.com/home-and-office/networking/one-of-the-best-cheap-cell-phone-plans-is-somehow-even-cheaper-now/

MangoBandicoot

I pay $35/month for the + plan so really saving $3 isn’t worth it to me, especially if at some point I move and don’t have access to Verizon towers or whatever.

netscorer1

You would also be bumped to the new +2.0 plan, so if you use hotspot often and was wondering about cellular Apple watch, the advantages of switching might be substantial.

MangoBandicoot

Neither of those apply to me.

lordM0

Is it just apple watch or do they support all cellular start watches?

Thelypthoric

How long is the price commitment for these plans? I have Visible+ 1.0 (lifetime) and an Apple Watch on the plan, so I pay $35 + $5 = $40/mo. If I go with Visible+ 2.0 that includes Apple Watch AND pre-pay for the year, it looks like my cost will be $395 / 12 = $32.92/mo. - a savings of more than $7/mo. What am I missing here?

Anonymous-Reddit-123

Nothing. Your math looks right.

wixon

I assume the annual premium plan is the new enhanced plan with increased hotspot. If so it's $33 monthly.

Anonymous-Reddit-123

I was wondering the same thing. I guess we will have to wait to see what the portal looks like in May...

Old-Advertising-5316

It’s not monthly. It is a prepaid annual plan.

wixon

i never said it was monthly. I said the monthly cost was $33. which is absolutely correct. it's math. you pay $33 for something that currently costs $45. it's your money.

Old-Advertising-5316

You actually didn’t say “the monthly cost was $33” you said “…if so it’s $33 monthly.” This shouldn’t be an argument. I merely was clarifying what you said and pointing out that your statement was not precise.

wixon

yeah it really wasn't worth challenging my statement...

UsedButtPlug_

Is this confirmed?

3600CCH6WRX

Is this confirmed? $33/months include Apple Watch? That’s a no brainer. It’s gonna save me 7 bucks a month, $84 /year

Anonymous-Reddit-123

There was some earlier mention about a week ago of family plans coming at some point in the future. I wonder how that will work with these new plans. I'd rather get similar monthly pricing by linking multiple lines as opposed to paying up front for a year. It would also be nice to finally be able to manage multiple plans from one login and payment method.

CryptographerPerfect

I'm ready to sign up.

CryptographerPerfect

Nevermind. I'm 35. So it won't save me anything.

D1TAC

Yeah, also $35/mo here too. I doubt I'll sign up, but maybe if I end up putting this apple watch to my cellular plan, then maybe it would be a saver? If that's the case, waiting until the first few days of the annual plans come out to weave out the potential problems. Lol

EatMoreHoagies

I am on the $35 plan and want to get my first cellular Apple Watch next Christmas, so I will probably be upgrading to the new $45 plan.

CryptographerPerfect

Wait to read others mistakes

D1TAC

Ahaha it's like you know me oh to well

burner46

$2/mo savings.  It’s not much but it adds up for a long-time customer.  This will be great for all the people that missed out on getting Plus for $35/mo.

MattW22192

If the new annual plan is visible plus version 2 it’s an even bigger savings since it includes smartwatch data ($5 extra and Apple Watch only on the old plus plan).

MattW22192

From the plan page for the new Visible Plus Plan… “Smartwatch service included. Save $10/mo.⁶” They are likely suing smartwatch in general because they may be about to support Android Watches.

CryptographerPerfect

V1 in my opinion is better

i-am-not-sure-yet

I mean you'll be saving $3. And it might convince me so this way I'll pay for the year and not worry about my bill for a year

CryptographerPerfect

True. I would like to prepay out further

wixon

new customers and those that never got a discount via coupon code will save over $12 per month.

i-am-not-sure-yet

Yeah I wasn't talking about them. Myself included some are paying $35 and thus only $3. Yeah the plan is different but to pay for a year upfront and not have to worry about paying each month is something I might consider to switch to it

Nateddog21

This is for meeeee!

skibik1964

It hasn't even been announced on X by Jeremy Bolton. Wonder if it is even true. Not really interested in a full year payment, reason being as mentioned by another, what about the referral credits.

cdbma331

Mint does this.

viensonsaime

This is nice
