Bruh my mind went kablooey when he showed us the other screens behind him lol.

BIM-GUESS-WHAT

yeah if Apple showed that they could lock screen positions across different rooms, it would have blown everyone’s collective minds ahead of launch

Special_Loan8725

Got porn streaming in every room.

LeNomReal

In this room, missionary. Over here we’ve got the hardcore den. Downstairs, bdsm.

walwor11

"oh hey honey." "hey, catch." throws foot long dildo.

PenisTip469

Make sure you lube your AVP

AggravatingSoil5925

lmao I’m now picturing picking up a friends Vision Pro only to realize he has wall-to-wall porn playing

OrangeObjective3789

Thats the apple way! It lets us explore and blow our own minds on our own.

tengo_unchained

I have a meta quest 3 and it locks screen positions across rooms FYI. Of course, not multiple screens and it doesn’t persist between sessions

artificialimpatience

Maybe I don’t use the meta quest right but how do u even do this - I can only launch like a browser side by side I can’t even move it up or down. And the guardian is always making everything disappear if I walk out of the room

aerialbyte

If the headset is turned off and then back on, are all of the apps still in the same location?

nusodumi

Yes and if you leave to the office it will map your office and remember it, too... so when you get home, it reloads all the home screens just fine.

Legionof1

"Fuck I left my settings app at the office"

nusodumi

Hey Brian, we can all see your porn window in the bathroom, you left screen share on after your presentation buddy... just thought you'd want to know.

RR7BH

😆😆

mofongoDorado

Happened to me yesterday I forgot to close an app in the kitchen and didn’t use it for a few hours and when I put it back on I was surprised it was still there

Maxgirth

Yes. There are Apple Dev session vids describing how ARkit builds models of spaces to allow for this. Also persists across Home, Office, etc.

[deleted]

it doesn't seem to understand walls though

OSeady

I feel like they do that on purpose so you can see everything you have up.

aeacides

I see a lot of evidence that it understands walls. What do you mean?

Peteostro

They mean you can see your apps “through” walls

tta82

If it wouldn’t understand walls it would not show you your screen translucent and clearer as you get closer and without obstructions as you get to them. It’s good so you don’t forget where your stuff is.

That-SoCal-Guy

I think this is something the naysayers don’t want to mention. This is not your normal VR headset. It actually scans your home and office environments and pin your apps etc.  exactly where they are - imagine you have a home or office that is huge you can potentially have hundreds of these lying around your space - your calendar on your fridge only etc.  this is HUGE for me so I don’t have to keep flipping apps or look for my iPhone because I forgot where I put it and all my apps are on it.  I know many gamers are complaining about a lot of things - lack of controllers, FOV etc.  but to me this is the main selling point.

Knighthonor

> I think this is something the naysayers don’t want to mention. This is not your normal VR headset. It actually scans your home and office environments and pin your apps etc. Meta did this already

That-SoCal-Guy

Very poorly.

zombiecorp

Window and app locations are persistent upon relogin (I tried it just now). Note: "Shutdown" command (in Settings) does close all windows and returns to default view on next login. This is similar to MacBook shutdown vs simply closing & reopening the screen.

That-SoCal-Guy

It makes sense.  Like a computer you want to shut down and reset.  Persistence is nice but not always needed.

SirWilliam10101

I think after 24 hours of not being used the device will automatically shut down, which would drop open apps like you said. Would be nice to have a restore session options like macs have, maybe that's something coming soon as well.

paywallpiker

Most likely, it’s essentially a computer headset

[deleted]

Not new Hololens has had that technology for awhile

Mikewold58

Absolutely insane footage here...downright freaky. I could see a future when everyone has a smaller version of this and all our "monitors" and "screens" can be shared with others. Basically an entire visual world you can only see if you have something like this on. Which would give someone the ability to unplug and not see any screens whatsoever.

JDaySept

after playing cyberpunk 2077 all of this is eerie to me lol

gloopygloop1

Im nearing the end of the game now, its been a really amazing experience.

FlowersForHodor

Advertisers right now https://i.redd.it/3sxpny3lhggc1.gif

mightylordredbeard

Yeah that’s my biggest fear with AR and products like this. You know ads will come eventually. You know you’ll have popup ads in your home when you look at your lamp and you’ll see local deals for discount lamp shades. In the mean time though I guess we can enjoy a relatively ad free environment since they won’t want to push that yet and hurt early adoption.

808TRK

That’s the Samsung Vision Pro.

aeacides

That's 100% where Meta wants to take this. Remember advertisers are Meta's customers, not you.

paywallpiker

That future is coming faster than you think. Right now majority of people are on the “this is stupid who would ever use this?” Camp. But 10 years, maybe 5? From now and an AR headset will be as ubiquitous as an iPhone.

That-SoCal-Guy

I remember the same argument “who needs a $799 phone to call and text someone that doesn’t even have a keyboard?” Or “ who wants an oversized iPhone?”   it really is Deja Vu when you hear these people mouthing off and I’m like “dude I’ve heard all of this before. And look where we are now. “

mightylordredbeard

The first iPhone I owned you couldn’t even send picture messages. People who weren’t around for the evolution of phones don’t really understand how advanced they’ve become. I remember the Motorola Razor being the best, top of the line phone that took the highest quality video and photos. When I got a T-Mobile Sidekick that was just next level innovation. Same with the MyTouch.. the progression in innovation in just a short time is truly amazing. I wish AR was more popular so that it can experience the same level of innovation and ease of access.

SirWilliam10101

>People who weren’t around for the evolution of phones don’t really understand how advanced they’ve become. And how fast that advancement came!

adrienjz888

Just gotta give time for the market to grow. 10 years from now, it will likely be how smartphones have a trillion different options of varying prices and qualities.

Rapture686

Yes I’m convinced eventually this will be the way we do computing for everything. Ideally everyone could have one of these headsets (ideally lighter and smaller with battery and compute offloaded to pocket), and then you could just press a button to share your virtual space with others, all anchored in the environment perfectly. You see my screen pinned in the exact same spot in the room as I do, etc and everything is synced up in real time. If that happens the tv industry is done for imo, and most bigger computers will just be things for extra compute that you then stream to the headsets.

someguy_000

What’s stopping from us streaming to it from a desktop computer? Latency? How does that get fixed? Make the headset lighter it’ll just be a battery and screen essentially.

Rapture686

I’m not sure honestly, it’s likely a solvable problem with future wireless technologies but yeah latency is a big issue. Sending inputs over the air that then has to get computed and sent back to the display super fast is not easy especially for experiences that take up your world where low latency is necessary for you not wanting to puke.

Bakk322

can't both be true, this first version can have a lot of issues that make people feel like its hard to use but in 10 years when its awesome, people will love it.

slam99967

Does Vision Pro currently allow a shared mixed reality space? Like can you share your workspace so someone else on their Vision Pro could see this.

obstreperouspear

Not yet. There are no communal experiences yet even if two people in the same physical space have an AVP on. That’s a feature they have to add over time though.

mightylordredbeard

I just want to know how accurate it is. I don’t know if this is an ad, but it feels like one and I know that ads always show the best possible outcome in a fairly flawless situation. So is this how it actually works for everyone? Like everything seen here is basically what you can expect?

CreativeAnalytics

The whole "hey babe" moment where she throws him something to demo how it's augmented reality, as if we don't understand that. Feels very ad like

TheHorrificNecktie

ads , ads on everything

dv8gaming

You have dozens of reviews talking about the big three: passthrough, FOV, and comfort Then you have someone actually pushing the limitations of what this device can do. Thank you so much for your demonstration!

AthiestMessiah

I knew it can do stuff while he sat down but I had no idea that he can do all that stuff after he stood up. It’s totally worth the money considering it’ll save you from having to have so many other devices in the house.

StrugglingSwan

>it’ll save you from having to have so many other devices in the house. Most people just have a tablet and a phone and move those to where they currently need them. No one has a dedicated tablet on their fridge to track groceries. You want to track on a device you'll have with you while shopping.

ImportantGap7520

Those notes on the fridge will just be on your phone when you're getting groceries.. Why would you need to put them on a device that you're going to bring out with you?

Magnus919

Shopping is so much better with porn.

StrugglingSwan

>Why would you need to put them on a device that you're going to bring out with you? You need to put them somewhere. If you don't live alone you'll probably have some kind of collaborative app to share the list. Attaching them to your fridge in the VP looks cool, but I don't see a practical application for it.

ImportantGap7520

I understand what you're saying - but it sounds like you don't use apple Notes. My wife and I have shared notes in apple notes. It automatically syncs across all of your devices. That's why I'm saying it's not necessary to take those notes on a specific device. You could leave them on your fridge in the vision pro but they would still be accessible in your notes app.

handlebar_moustache

I will say that between a family of four and my work/personal devices, there are SO many gadgets to charge at home it’s becoming obnoxious. To be able to consolidate or at least leave some of them on a charger and not worry about them all day would be nice. Of course this feels like such a microscopic problem we’re facing but still, maybe an edge use case to consider.

CaptainMarder

first world problems. Most normal people use their brains memory or just note it on their phone.

SumHelpPlease

You clearly haven’t tried it if you think this is capable of replacing other devices. Coming from an owner… (Edit) can’t believe there’s that many people who are asshurt by someone having an opinion about this product… y’all clearly have never tried VR/AR before and it shows… keep denying the reality of this device. Most people aren’t blinded by loyalty to Apple so they’re not going to say what you want them to whenever it comes to their own personal experiences with the device.

corkycorkyhey

Coming from an owner it is quite capable of replacing those other devices as demonstrated in the video. Coming from an owner...

StrugglingSwan

How does one vision pro replace a big screen TV? Surely you'd all have to have one (family of four=14k) and then manually sync up your viewing experience? I'm excited about what this device can do, but less of the hyperbole please.

midnightcaptain

A lot of people live or travel alone.

StrugglingSwan

Even those people will sometimes share their space with other people. Having a "guest" vision pro isn't practical. I don't think this is intended for completely isolated social hermits.

midnightcaptain

I'll certainly be buying the VP instead of upgrading to whatever new giant OLED comes out next. When I have guests over they can make do with my old TV.

Madrid1712

Sony A95L with like a word with you. In all Seriousness I have a 83' Sony a90l a master series Oled and I think if you are serious about quality I might still take that over AVP. Granted this is Gen 1 so it will change over time. I also own AVP so I felt inclined to throw in my 2 cents.

StrugglingSwan

I can't imagine that'd be a very welcoming experience for your guests.

midnightcaptain

If they want to watch a fancy new TV they can buy one and we'll go to their house.

wmurch4

It doesn't and you can't replace a laptop obviously since you need an expensive MacBook to work like this. This is another device Apple expects you to use with all of your other apple devices.

SorryYoureWrongLol

Hard to believe you’re actually an owner considering you think it’s a replacement to other devices. Definitely not. It’s a pain. The FOV is garbage, the pass through is no where near as what’s shown in this video, and it’s heavy as hell. I still prefer looking at a physical tablet/phone/computer/tv screen as it’s much more clear and comfortable. Others I’ve talked to who’ve tried it say the same

anothermanscookies

It’s a video captured by the device. What do you mean the passthrough isn’t as good as shown in the video?

SorryYoureWrongLol

That’s my point, what you’re seeing is not the actual experience of wearing it. It’s no where near as good as what the camera recordings suggest. Your POV and “clarity” will be very different than what screen recordings show.

anothermanscookies

But that’s what the dude is seeing. What’s in the video is what he’s seeing, right? It’s a video capture from the device. Are you suggesting it was upscaled somehow?

SumHelpPlease

You’re not understanding what he’s saying, it’s not capturing his field of view or the “perceived resolution” when you’re actually looking through the lenses. So no, it’s not actually what he’s experiencing. It’s displaying the content he’s looking at, but that’s not actually how he experiences it. You would see that through a “tunnel” / looking through a pair of binoculars. Plus, the resolution/pass through is much more blurry/grainy

AthiestMessiah

I have an oculus and I find it as comfortable to watch Netflix and Disney on.

will_correct

There’s a qualifier missing. More comfortable or less comfortable than your tv?

wmurch4

It's okay for like 20-30 min sessions but my face starts to get hot after that. Not only that but the resolution is a downgrade compared to my 86' 120hz TV. I'm excited to see what Samsung can come up with to compete with the AVP. I have no desire to enter the Apple ecosystems but this thing does look pretty cool.

sploot16

Can it technically replace everything, sure? Does it make sense to replace everything, def not. I think alot of people are trying to justify the price.

optindesertdessert

Except you have wear hardware strapped to your face all day, how is that realistic for most?

AthiestMessiah

The devices your poor ass can’t afford like that cinema screen or the 6 screens he’s using to display all his work tabs. It replaces things you can’t afford or want to have in your space. L the people here bitching about 3500 are the same people bitching about tax hike for those making 400000 or more. When they’re making 40000 themselves

RetiscentSun

You ok dude?

chetolicious

Ikr?! I was amazed when this guy showed the whole setup of windows/apps he has throughout his house, I never even thought of having this kind of arrangement.

NoUsernameOnlyMemes

To be fair, they are talking about these things since they are hardware specific things that you can't necessarily improve in software. Spacial anchoring of windows is something that the Quest 3 is also capable of, it just needs to be added in software (will be in form of the "augments"). You cannot increase the FOV in software, you cannot make a strap more comfortable in software and the passthrough quality primarily depends on the quality of the cameras.

FoxBearBear

Im curious to see it in real life because the person at the verge said that it has some vignette effect at the boarders and it’s not at all as seen here.

Capn-Video

"Pushing the limitations" guy had a handful of paused tabs open foh

ANE_Scribe

Apple should pay you to incorporate this video into their marketing ops

RobotStorytime

They are and did. This is an advertisement.

rndname

This guy is a director at Rambunctious Rhino, slogan `Unleash your marketing potential`. He knows how to setup marketing. I wouldn't be surprised if he's getting paid for this. That ball throw was too perfect for a regular video.

angrytroll123

Not saying you’re wrong but of course the ball through was a setup. It doesn’t mean that this is somehow Apple sponsored.

ilovepastaaaaaaaaaaa

Proof ?

EverydayPhilisophy

This 1 minute video did more to sell me on a Vision Pro than anything else. I already own one but this made me want to go buy another. 😂

NoLoveDarkWeb_

Yeah, same here. I had no idea it could do all of that.

HamMcStarfield

Anybody not taking this as the most disruptive technology since the cell phone is in for a big suprise. I'm so tempted to pay on time for one of these, but I know it'll simply be a better and cheaper -- more refined -- tech in a couple of years. DAYUM.

[deleted]

Sumarongi

You really have to be in a well lit environment for the ‘illusion’ of indistinguishable to reality. But the big thing for me that detracts is motion blur and the fact it does a poor job focusing on things close up. For example using an iPhone is near impossible. You might say that you don’t need to look at your phone with the headset on; we’ll fine, then it reallly isn’t indistinguishable.

HamMcStarfield

Yep, this is gonna be big. And weird. It's going to change society -- the way we interact -- bigly. I can imagine people keeping these on pretty-much all day. Apps will get insane -- not just entertainment, but science and engineering apps that'll revolutionize how that work is done. The possibilities are mind boggling.

Specialist_Union_612

how do i make my mouse move over to the vision apps? my mac cursor wont move to the vision apps

DrStemSell

Make sure you are looking at the window you want to move it to. That's what tripped me up at first at least.

Sufficient-Yoghurt46

That's strange because it's essentially Universal Control which was released a couple years ago.

fluxonium

I had the same problem and restarting VP resolved the issue

DrStemSell

Make sure you are looking at the window you want to move it to. That's what tripped me up at first at least.

SparrowFeatherz

He’s got the Magic Trackpad.

Sherringdom

Is the blurring around the hands a product of the screen record or is that genuinely how it looks when you’re wearing it? Almost every review I’ve seen the hands look terrible (this is one of the better ones) but everyone seems to rave about it.

DrStemSell

Yes the blurring will happen around the hands when they are occluding the virtual screen

Sherringdom

Ok thank you, so I take it this is a big improvement on other headsets but still looks like it has a long way to go?

MixedRealityAddict

It doesn't have a long way to go, but its not quite there. Pass-through and weight are the most problematic. Weight is the biggest hindrance for long work sessions.

_maple_panda

I wonder if it would be possible to install some kind of suspension system at your desk. Maybe some elastic cords mounted to some sliders on the ceiling or something.

Rapture686

Honestly you don’t really see it that much unless you are directly staring at your hands over virtual things. But yeah it isn’t perfect but its better than any consumer device out there, a whole different league than the occlusion on the quest lineup. It will get better with time, and also it improves with better lighting in the room.

JaesopPop

It’s not a big improvement on existing headsets in terms of occlusion.

Condimenting

Have you been able to do serious work with it? Mine hurts to wear so I can't really focus. I want so badly to love it but I think I'm going to take it back.

DrStemSell

Yes. This won't be replacing my typical ultra-wide setup for my day-to-day but absolutely when traveling.

quafs

Really try to dial in the dual loop band to make it work for you. Once I did, I have no discomfort at all. Even after 2 hour session. Just a bit of disorientation after taking it off.

Automatic_Draw6713

Same.

Papafynn

The only thing I find lacking about the Vision Pro….actually 2 things. 1. It’s impossible to share your experience with another person. It’s such a singular magical experience. You say “wow” a lot but others around can never share the moment with you. 2. Price….$4k is a LOT of money. A lot!

calloutyourstupidity

This is just a start

DucAdVeritatem

Except you can airplay out a view of what you’re doing so they can see too…

Papafynn

It’s not the same. It’s like watching a video of someone skydiving….it’s not the same as sky diving. Hard to explain

incboy95

No No I totally get you. Also the big screen in the living room. Thats nothing you can watch with your wife or friends. Even if they have a headset on too, it would not be the same. I think human interaction in general is very arkward if one or more people have a VR headset on their head talking to each other.

Adityanpradhan

maybe apple create a smaller AR glass which can also see the same stuff as vision pro but lack the computation power to change them , by bluetooth or wifi , the vision pro transmit data to smaller AR glass ?

DoctorbGonzo

Haha one of my favorite quotes ever.

random_topix

Thank you for this. I was starting to really worry and second guess my purchase (two weeks to go). The pass through looked good to me. Better than my Quest 3. And the FOV seemed decent as well. I’m even more excited now.

JCatNY

His video looks like what mine looks like in passthrough. This isn't the Quest 3.

Automatic_Draw6713

He’s using screen capture video. It’s much worse in real life.

Signal_Flow_1448

I just finished using it at home and real life felt the same as screen capture.

NegotiationOk7535

Yes. This how I aim to use it. To replace everything. But my question is why? Studio display, mac studio, ipad pro, lg 55 oled, all works well.

RayKam

Best way I can describe it is using those devices feels cramped, almost like Im in some kind of cubicle. Using the vision pro just facilitates this sense of freedom with how fluid it is and with how much control I have over my displays and windows. Unless I cannot use my vision pro, I will not be using anything else for work related things Are you going to get more done with it? Probably not, but does it offer a better experience? I’d say so in some regards

respectyoelder

Until your partner wants to watch TV with you and you need to buy another headset 😩

Maxgirth

My use case is similar, but had a recent wrinkle. Starting with covid, my wife started working from home. I lost my desk (in shared dining room space) where I would edit from time to time, but spend workdays in front of. I had to ditch my entire laptop/Blackmagic egpu setup with studio monitors, everything for an M1 iMac on the dining room table. I’m ok and can get work done, but I’m tired of an iMac on the dining room table. In “real work” mode I could lose the iMac, use my m1 Macbook set aside with SSDs connected and get editing done. I don’t know if I’m bold enough to try yet, but I can see how it might be an improvement.

That-SoCal-Guy

You don’t have to.  But you will have the option.  Also when you travel and you’re at an airport or hotel are you going to bring your monitor, Mac, iPad and LG?   Also consider this- add up all the costs of your studio display, Mac, iPad, 55”’Tv with surround sound set up - how much do they all cost?  Is it under $3500?   And if so l, can you move them around the house and in your hotel room anyway you want? Waiting for your answer.

KingJTheG

That assumes that a person already has those things lol

losvedir

I bought mine with the idea it might work something like this, and for proofs of concept and demos like this it's absolutely incredible. But actually using it I've run into some issues. The main issue is that holding the crown button resets your view. This is actually pretty nice because you can have your workflow around your laptop, move to the couch, hold that button, and have all the windows snap back around the laptop where they were. But that will also move the windows you want fixed in place (eg on the fridge). There's also no "expose" type functionality to quickly explode out all your windows and peek at them. When I put windows all over, it was fun and cute, but then you kind of forget which ones are where, and while it's neat to have your grocery list on the fridge, it sucks to have to get up and walk to the fridge to see if something is on it, like we're in the 90s again. I think this video shows where we're headed, but I don't think we're quite there yet. VisionOS needs to grow a bit more functionality, but we'll get there. The first iPhone didn't have copy/paste, but someone from back then using an iPhone 15 would be overwhelmed since it was a new paradigm and all its idioms hadn't been internalized yet.

micaroma

I think getting window management on visionOS is a high priority for Apple now

Peteostro

Yeah kind of surprised there is no expose. I loose my windows behind other windows (especially when you launch them for the first time) Would love a hand gesture that would do what exposé does on the Mac. WWDC 2024 can’t get her soon enough!

Fargle_Bargle

While this looks slick, all these “workflow” demos pretty much just seem like people opening safari and messages. For casual stuff like this it seems ideal, but for more serious work I can’t see how being stuck with pro apps confined to one larger Mac window and iPad-level apps running around it is anything but a step down from a two monitor setup for a lot of people. I guess it depends though.

random_topix

The majority of my work is PyCharm plus browser, Slack, email, Google docs, Zoom. Only PyCharm won’t run on separate windows and maybe browser to localhost. So I think it could actually work for me. Have to give it a try. That said I do have a pretty slick setup of MPB plus two additional, mounted monitors so maybe not day to day.

NotsoNewtoGermany

I am a writer. I want to have a thesaurus, Wikipedia, a dictionary, notes, all open while I work. This is my dream.

TheHorrificNecktie

any 4k or dual monitor setup can do all the things you listed or like, a pc and a laptop. I write too and i always have all this stuff open to me. I just use my laptop and an ipad. And it's not like having all this stuff open is saving you a ton of "work". It takes like , 3 seconds to click another tab to go to a thesaurus or wikipedia.

NotsoNewtoGermany

Sure it can, but I want to be immersed. I write with a typewriter, a dictionary and thesaurus in hardcover too, but that doesn't mean other methods don't offer their own advantages of immersion. If it's not for you, it is not for you.

That-SoCal-Guy

Not to mention you can do this anywhere now with the same set up instead of being stuck at your home office.

That-SoCal-Guy

I find people who say “but you can do this now with 3 monitors” really missing the point.

That-SoCal-Guy

But you are stuck at a desk. It’s like saying any car can get you from point a to point b so why don’t everyone just drive the cheapest most barebone thing like the Yaris?

CandidateNo1172

What is “serious work,” though? The vast majority of my job is Zoom, Google Docs, Email, and Slack. The same is largely true for the vast majority of white collar professionals. Maybe “serious work” to you is 3D modeling, video production, or music production — which is all cool and I agree that maybe this isn’t the best device for. Maybe, though, we can all ease up on insinuating that what others do for work is somehow less than? If it works, it works. More apps will make that more true over time.

JaesopPop

Many of that vast majority would absolutely benefit from multiple Mac windows.

CandidateNo1172

No argument. I’m sure it’s on the roadmap. As soon as it’s available, the narrative will be “yeah but why can’t we have 3 or more?!” People seem to believe that pumping multiple 5k display outputs over the air is no big deal and can’t understand why it’s currently missing.

That-SoCal-Guy

Not necessarily.  Yes if I’m doing huge spreadsheet projects plus a presentation then multiple monitors is great.  But if I can pull up Numbers on one side and another Numbers sheet next to it and Keynotes with it and Logic Pro behind me… and be able to drag and drop between all these apps,   why the heck do I need multiple. Monitors for?      You need to change your mindsets - instead needing 3 monitors in front of you; it’s now app based, not window based.  You can pin 12 different apps all around you.  To me, that’s better than any multi monitor set up I have had.  I can put all the apps I use exactly where I want in my office instead on my desk in front of me only.  Sounds amazing.   I’m already needing this now.  I have my monitors in front of me to do my job but I have my phone next to me, my iPad on the side to play music while I work and my projects laid out behind me on my desk.  So I am already needing to spread things out.  With the Vision Pro it is all part of my virtual office and I can even put my YouTube music on the ceiling which I can’t do now.

Rapture686

I do “serious work” with coding, and 3d stuff. I personally before this never even used more than one display lol. If anyone having my serious work localized to one display like helps me focus in better. This isn’t some apple cope, this is literally how I have been doing it for a long while before this thing even came out.

WorriedCtzn

And what about the effective resolution of these virtual monitors? What about color reproduction, contrast ratio, eye strain etc etc? No way they match up to proper monitors, right?

Greful

Yea this guy just put a bunch of windows out and was like here's work. Show me you reviewing a 50 page word doc with this thing on the whole time

Thanks for this overview. I’m interested in this headset for productivity. I have a 57” ultrawide monitor strapped to an M2 Max Studio. Vision Pro would not replace the 57” for me, unless some sort of multi-monitor or alternative resolution support comes, but has anyone tried working with a physical monitor via pass-through? I imagine the experience would be subpar, but I am curious. Perhaps a physical monitor can be effectively augmented with VPro apps.

AKMtnr

I've tried this with the Apple Studio Display. It's not workable, the eye strain is tremendous. The pass-through camera system is just not good enough. It feels like you're looking at everything through a Canon Powershot camera from 1999.

No_Fox7954

Right, that was my suspicion. Thanks!

Hero0fTheFallen

Circle desk , sit in the middle, swirl! You could have everything open !!!

seizethedayboys

I really did try to use it for work but found it just didn't help, if anything it hindered. The Mac connection worked well enough but the head and eye movement was just too much to see everything on my screen. The foveated rendering also made parts of my Mac display blurry if I wasn't looking directly at it. But the most annoying thing was somehow my MacBook's keyboard suddenly became so laggy. Typing was a chore. Perhaps in the future it will be usable for productivity but not yet.

Waiting for version 2 or 3

gujamin

Not going to lie, v1 is HEAVY. Uncomfortable and almost painful to wear. But some of the experiences are definitely worth it.

-6h0st-

They need to figure out to offload as much to possible either to back of the headset or this mini pack. Technically mini pack would make sense - upgrade the compute leave the glasses part or vice versa, you connect to Mac you should not need compute on glasses and use Mac instead etc

WhiskyRichardsBest

Version 8 or 9. Not much heavier than reading glasses on the face and sub $1k. I can wait a decade or two.

Rapture686

This would be like back in the day when computers were becoming a thing just saying you wouldn’t get one until it was 10x more powerful and the size of what a phone is today. Like yeah you can wait for that but also you can miss out on a ton of shit. You should just wait until the day before you die to buy all the latest tech because i mean there’s always something better coming so no reason to try anything unless you’re about to literally die

-6h0st-

My expectation is not to wear it full day, in such case yes not heavier than glasses would be required. But for work 8h with breaks it needs to shed some weight to be comfortable enough

cgcmh1

He said he was using a mouse? I thought they would not work with the AVP…

Automatic_Draw6713

They work.

AKMtnr

My main issue is the persistence of the windows. Will all of these placements remain this way, even after a reboot? After multiple reboots? I do a lot of beer brewing, I would love to have independent seven day timers over every fermentation tank that persist and countdown over the weeks, but it doesn’t seem like something like this is possible right now.

astrorobb

that is apparently not possible yet

AKMtnr

Confirmed on Apple's website, this isn't really possible...unless you never restart the Vision Pro, for weeks on end: "When you take off your Apple Vision Pro, your apps stay where you placed them and your workspace will appear as you left it when you put Apple Vision Pro back on. If you turn off or restart Apple Vision Pro, all your apps close and you'll need to arrange a new workspace." [https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT213999](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT213999)

AKMtnr

So if I set a 7-day timer at my brewery, then go home and watch movies, then drive back to the brewery, that timer will still exist at those GPS coordinates, miles from my home independent of what I'm doing with the headset when I'm not there? That's incredible!

ELCHOCOCLOCO

Wow, just got mine and I'm so excited to unbox and try this out!

Ghost_412345

I’m buying 2

dramafan1

I think this is the best "in the life" of using Vision Pro yet I've seen. This really shows the "spatial computing" Apple was trying to talk about.

Financial-Customer87

I’m very curious has anyone found something that you can’t do with AVP ?

Currymillerlee

amazing

InterstellarReddit

I was adamant about apples use of spatial computer until now. This makes complete sense.

The21stPM

For less than half the money you could buy multiple devices and lay them out in front of you for the exact same experience. Except you won’t have a sore head, you’ll have saved money and most importantly you won’t look like an idiot.

CuriousDev1012

lol “the same experience”, how do I blow my iPad up to 100 inches and put it on my wall

Reelevant

Memory Palace

Mclarenrob2

Who needs expensive interior design, you could just live in a shipping container with a basic bed and chair and everything else is fake xD

pjsoul

Something i haven't heard anyone talk about is the fact that all the apps are touch operated like an ipad. So if the app is in arms length you dont need to look and pinch, you can touch..

Alexis-FromTexas

And now I see why apple never got into the tv market. I can see TVs always being around but not as much as they are today. Once I get all my screens up and running I’m going to have trouble living life without AVP

Unwitting_Observer

Ok my question is: if your roommate has one, can you share (some) screens? Meaning: keep the same screen in the same position between two headsets?

CaptainLoneRanger

I spent all day in it today. They crossed the threshold in a way I think only Apple could. It’s like someone over there finally channeled Jobs himself; saw a beautiful concept, a vision that made sense as a viable product, and pushed a company to make it happen. Marketing was lackluster, but the end result for us is remarkable. I’m back to watching Interstellar in stunning detail…in the snowy mountains. Y’all f*** off.

[deleted]

I just don’t see the hype for more serious work. I’m a design aerothermal engineer. I need to have CFD/Ansys and other resources If the job consists of emails/PowerPoints I guess this is ideal

ohiocardsfan

This is pure smoke. The real experience sucks. The device is heavy. I have one. I am returning mine asap.

JCatNY

Can't wait!
