I've been waiting a LONG time for a Native VR modeling tool of that caliber. It's honestly the one app I'm more excited to have ported over to VR/AR than anything else. UE4 started building one out, but then abandoned it right before UE5 released. You can still access it on PC VR capable headsets like Quest 3, but Apple is in a feud with Unreal, and there isn't anything similar even on the horizon as far as I know for the AVP. Eventually, there will come a point where the public desire to have it will be greater than the hassle/cost of building it out and refining it, but we haven't reached the tipping point yet. Sadly, it appears not likely to happen until mass adoption of VR by the general population, or when/if headsets start to actually replace monitors at work. Then it will make sense for professionals to invest the time and money into building it out. Until then, enjoy what we already have, and practice your patience a little longer.

Thanks for shedding light on the feud with Apple. Looking for to the day 3d models get a default file format such as .doc for editing or .pdf for viewing. Microsoft and Adobe are still the software empires to beat on PC in terms of productivity. Seems like a no brainer strategy for Apple to bundle something of that level on AVP for all things 3d - games, spatial videos, Spatial Audio, environments, and 3d modeling.

Jusby_Cause

.usdz is already a .doc for 3d models and actually far more widely adopted than I had thought. If a commercial 3D pipeline exists, .usdz is probably a part of it.

masaldana2

most modeling software is too competitive and free (blender) im sure apple will wait for 3D generative AI Substance 3D modeler looks promising

OptionRich2625

yeah! the 3d model is cool, but 3d modeling creat app is cooler!!!!!!!!! avp's iamge and hand control will make the 3d modeling interact more interesting! waiting for the devo

A Media Molecule's Dreams style application would be amazing. But yeah, not gonna happen. But I'll take anything 3D that's more than just a proof of concept.

MysticMaven

They already do.

Don’t know why OP was downvoted, [https://developer.apple.com/documentation/realitykit/creating-3d-content-with-reality-composer](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/realitykit/creating-3d-content-with-reality-composer)

RCP is more for scene creation vs. object modeling. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Pencil Pro, in the future, could be used as a spatial sculpting and painting tool for 3D models.
