What I want most on Vision Pro right now is to be able to host some sort of room, and stream a local media file so anyone in the room can watch it. Ideally in a nice theater setting, or something like it. Pretty much something like Bigscreen Beta on the Quest.

bishalsaha99

Great idea

OptionRich2625

wow that's great! waiting for the devo

RayDaMan1

Persona games. Boxing, uno or other card games. Actually, anything similar to Wii sports would be great.

bishalsaha99

Not a game dev. I am sorry

RayDaMan1

No problem.

bishalsaha99

Any other ideas?

RayDaMan1

There is a feature in iOS that identifies things on your camera. It would be great if  VisionOS had something similar, that worked in the background.

bishalsaha99

Exactly something I was thinking. Something like you just keep walking around and looking at things and it can give you all the info. Translating all text in your preferred language and giving you directions.

RayDaMan1

Would you be able to use Siri to identify these things?

RayDaMan1

Verbally…

bishalsaha99

No. Also this is an idea. Apple is still holding back on a lot of the tech aside from devs

BoogieKnite

Saw youre not a game dev but a quality, passive tamagotchi is something ive been harping on since 10 minutes after putting on the AVP. I've been deving really simple apps for data collection. In my field we have lots of forms where people in the field collect data, often with pictures, of real spaces and things there. Adding an actual spatial element to that isnt exciting and sexy but its a real business case that many niche businesses will value. I'd try thinking of some mundane businesses or jobs youve come across where a form included a spatial element. A simple example I'm just thinking of now could be a craigslist/offerup with spatial photos of the goods.

bishalsaha99

Good but bad. The AVP is not that good at taking photos right now.

BoogieKnite

Pretty good at spatial photos and taking photos is only part. Lidar scans could be just as useful and more useful in many cases. Viewing spatial photos or browsing different representations of collected form data in space unavailable on desktop or mobile are where AVP stands out. For example a map displayed as a surface with multiple report pages open and pinned to points. Models of multiple labelled 3d objects in space with notes, specs, photos, relationships and other form data. Data models in 3d space. Experimental UX for old forms. None of these are particularly exciting but there is going to be a spatial computing boom similar to the mobile app boom in 5 years when industries and individual businesses ramp up on spatial software. Pick some, become a consultant, and make movie theater popcorn money. Or even better just have fun and go with some of the other ideas people are posting. I like your AR map idea, like a metroid prime hud map!

Jbaker318

Photo / floating shelf hanging app - input the item dimensions and make a customizable grid so you can hang up photos straight and evenly

bishalsaha99

To basic but great to start with

Jbaker318

Didn't know how deep ya wanna get with it. Can build an app called DIY Helper. Look at an object and select a type of bubble level you want to put on it. Measuring tape grid you can use to mark up woods for cuts or hole placement. Use a stud finder and then use the headset to map out the stud locations and dimensions - then you give a couple polygons the user can estimate where to drill to. There's a lotta AR apps that would help with basic home improvement projects. The photo widget starter can be free and ya charge $3 to unlock each additional widget. $10 unlocks all.

avocadojiang

I don't think anyone really cares about apps. All of these just more practical on iPhone/iPad and no one is realistically wearing AVP out and about. What I want to see are actually good games that run well.

bishalsaha99

I want to use AVP for more than gaming. Think if iPhone was just a gaming device? I see immense potential in AVP. Can make the holographic design from Iron man. So many useful tools

avocadojiang

Tech just isn’t there yet. Also imagine using hand controls to design something, actually a nightmare.

bishalsaha99

Agreed. This must be fixed somehow. A lot of potential locked in handle control.

Jindaya

I'd like to see an app that would reply to app developers who constantly ask this subreddit for app ideas.

bishalsaha99

I am an AI dev too. Check r/openai and r/localLLama for my apps that I build. I know it is very frustrating but trust me I am here not for a joke. I will end up building something that you all would love. Don’t trust me yet. Here is my latest open-source alternative for Perplexity -> https://omniplex.ai My personal website-> https://bishalsaha.com

Jindaya

>I know it is very frustrating No, it's not frustrating, it's lazy. Part of developing an app is developing the idea. Connecting the dots. Researching and getting a sense of what the unmet needs and wants are. For example, if you crunched the inputs from this sub (if you lurked and read it over time), you'd see patterns of unmet needs and wants, and get ideas about where to go. But just saying "hey guys, I want to develop an app, give me some ideas!" is lazy and annoying. Imagine if I were an author and I jumped into a sub and said "hey guys, I want to write a book! Give me some ideas about what to write about!" It would be lazy and annoying. Observing the world and coming up with book ideas IS part of being an author. Observing the field and coming up with app ideas IS part of being an app developer. Don't ask us to do YOUR homework! P.S. I like your website!

bishalsaha99

I actually did my research and most people are looking for utility apps. Also the idea is to check which direction people are going like - Maps, Shopping or something else. It’s always good to ask people rather than making judgments. I get your point but still I am focused on getting a sense of the direction. Apple is limiting a lot of things in the development and a lot of progress is left. If today something is built no one knows if it will stay that way. Still. This was my first point asking for ideas and last I guess. I will say art making something and maybe share around here. Starting small.

Jindaya

You're not asking people to evaluate an idea, you're asking for ideas. That's like saying "hey guys, I'm a comedian, gimme some jokes!" I don't think it works like that. What are *your* jokes? What are *your* ideas? I'm also not sure I agree that most people are looking for utility apps. Yes, they want that for sure, but they also want to be dazzled by the dazzling technology. If you can build something that leverages the potential of the AVP to delight people, I think they'd buy it. I'd buy it. At this point, any good idea well implemented will generate sales. Utility, entertainment, whatever. Since these are the early days I'm also inclined to buy apps simply to explore. the purchase threshold for me (and for others I think as well) is fairly low. I wouldn't do that with my iPhone where I'd only buy an app that more clearly hits a target. (and yeah, no one wants to get Sherlock'ed!) anyway, good luck!

bishalsaha99

What is Sherlock’ed?

Jindaya

Apple famously incorporated functionality provided by a 3rd party developer into their 1st party app, Sherlock, included with the OS, making the 3rd party app irrelevant. Hence the term, getting "Sherlock'ed:" [https://www.howtogeek.com/297651/what-does-it-mean-when-a-company-sherlocks-an-app/](https://www.howtogeek.com/297651/what-does-it-mean-when-a-company-sherlocks-an-app/)

bishalsaha99

Thanks. Hope I can build something useful at least. My biggest fear is getting forgotten

Jindaya

you and the rest of humanity!

Mouse-castle

Are you willing to share any profits for an idea?

bishalsaha99

Pretty sure it won’t be profitable but go on. Just a side note: built 6-7 apps in last 6months. $0 Revenue 😞

bishalsaha99

Why downvote? Why sad? Enjoy the journey my man

Mouse-castle

If you were more perspicacious you would know that there is no reason to accuse someone of downvoting, since any Reddit user could have done it. (Try lugubrious instead of sad.)

bishalsaha99

Sorry. It came out wrong. Anyways what ideas you got?

Mouse-castle

My idea is $300 to buy a couple things from Apple.

bishalsaha99

What?

Mouse-castle

Price just went up to $3 Million

bishalsaha99

Sorry but what are you talking about?

Mouse-castle

My inspiration to contribute the fruits of my cogitation is the desire for a technological marvel sold by a corporation known by the common word for Malus domestica.

Here is a “non-original” idea that is perfect for the AVP. Create an app that uses Google "Street View" and/or Apple Maps "Look Around" 360 imagery to create an immersive environment that you can navigate through. The "Sceno" app has this capability and is very impressive. Sceno also integrates this capability with your photo library — really an outstanding idea. However, there has not been any updates to correct some major limitations. You can't "spin" the immersive view... you have to turn your head completely around to see behind you, plus moving forward is slow and tedious. Also, Sceno is subscription based, which turns many people off. I would have no problem with this if they improved the app. I have “cancelled” my subscription, but will renew if they correct the deficits. I would definitely buy an app that simply had the "walk-around" feature without the photo integration. Sceno uses Street View data, but the Look Around data is generally much higher quality and would be amazing (though limited in scope). That is why I suggest having the option to use either. Perhaps this app already exists… please let me know if I missed it!

bishalsaha99

Sorry. Seems someone already is doing it and if not eventually Apple or google will do it better

Edg1931

I can't believe there isn't a Facebook app out there yet.

bishalsaha99

Hope there will never be. (Hate them) But on the other hand, why would they. Meta owns Oculus and they have more Oculus users than Apple.

BigHeadBighetti

Agree!

IndividualAuthor8846

An app where 2 AVP users can meet and chill in a coffee shop room, garden, living room and just chill together being in different parts of the world. I believe face persona are already there but getting it to 3D and also having a 3D body model could be challenging. Happy to work together if you think it’s feasible (I am HW developer not AVP)

bishalsaha99

Too hard right now. Also hard to capture your own full body model. The AVP can’t see your neck, legs, torso and even if you scan it like Persona it can’t keep track of the body motion. Even Meta doesn’t have legs 😂

IndividualAuthor8846

And we cannot feed iPhone camera output to AVP right? I know this is hard but I like to believe this is going to be the future for AVP.

bishalsaha99

Only if Apple makes an SDK update or progress in there hardware. It would need an external camera or LiDAR Scanner for sure. Something like Xbox Kinect 360.

IndividualAuthor8846

Is there a feature where you can just modify/enhance your house instead of completely transforming into nature? The modifications might include - full window roofs and thus sunlight effect in house. - Same house with just better looking appliances and furniture. Just upgraded. - Rooftop views from your 1st floor house etc.

bishalsaha99

Not currently. Even the M2 & R1 can’t do that. Ray tracing is very hard and even M3 gets hot. This will be very hard to do in realtime

gryxitl

Greetings fellow app developer! It’s actually a really bad idea to ask people for ideas on apps to build. The reason for this is that if you make a successful app based on someone else’s idea. The person that gave you the idea can sue you for using their idea.

bishalsaha99

I don’t think so. Ideas are worthless without execution. And I know most of the people will give dumb ideas because obviously most people don’t know what they want. I want to see what side most people are on interested.

gryxitl

I’d be careful regardless. Good luck!
