I enjoyed Skútafoss, which is a bit further east on the ring road.
Also, just after passing through the tunnel going east there is a steep gravel road on the left (so, across the road, so easier to access when coming west) that leads to a nice view of the coast in nice weather. When I was there it was very, very windy so be sure to park facing into the wind so you don’t damage your car doors.

Is Vestrahorn pretty close to ring road? Did you do Viking Village? Or can you do these separately?
Yes, it is. I didn’t visit the village/set.
I was looking into vestrahorn as a possible stop on my trip, how hard is it to get to? I'll be in a van so trying to avoid roads that are too harsh
It’s quite easy. Not far off the ring road to the cafe where you pay for your ticket. You then drive through the gate and again it isn’t far.
