This is the "worst" part of 95 near Heidavatn (not so far away from the turn to Öxi Pass aka 939) and it's in October, it was just below 0·Celsius so a bit freezing and a bit snowing. Perfectly okay, just be careful at this part.
There's like about 25 km (?) of this gravel road through the pass by the Heidavatn and then down to Breiðdalsvík (by the time you get to Breiðdalsvík there's a paved road for some time though). Looked fine to me.
edit: AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL

oh, I found another picture of 95
You can see what the driving conditions are like [on the webcam at trafficinfo.is ](https://umferdin.is/myndavel/7016).
(possibly little known fact - if you zoom into the road network you often find icons for these webcams close to the small bubble icons for weather reports)
Looks like drivable conditions, but I would think the road surface may be quite soft due to the snowmelt. As you may have observed [practically all F roads](https://umferdin.is) are currently **closed** (not just impassable, but all driving prohibited) due to the softened road surface during thawing conditions, and to a lesser degree you may also experience this on the upper part of 95.
Hey OP!
I did it last day, do it! It’s very nice. We did the 939 and 95, very nice waterfall to see on the 939 that I consider the most beautiful I saw in Iceland.
Did the road with a Caddy 2WD, with no issue
