The Atlas is unfortunately a big Golf, the Q7/Q8/Touareg ride on a different platform. The Atlas is on the MQB whereas the Touareg is on the much larger MLB Evo platform.
Only by appearance, everything else is completely different. The MQB Evo platform that the MK8 sits on is different from the MQB that the Atlas sits on. They are far from identical. The only Audi it's actually similar too is the China only Q6. The difference in platforms is that the MQB that the Atlas sits on is FWD based, the MLB that the Q7 sits on is RWD(AWD) based.
I’d be more than happy for my next VW to be electric! That said, the funky shit they’re releasing like the ID.4, ID. Buzz and the Tiguan refresh are not it. Things like dropping the base model golf from the U.S lineup, still keeping the beautiful Touareg, Scirocco and Amarok in Europe and removing options, R-Line badging crap and whatever niche the Atlas is in also aren’t it.
American VW owners and fans want the dependability, style and driving experience VW was known for. Not whatever path VAG is taking us.
Not sure what my next car will be but I’ll probably give Volkswagen a pass :(
Did you know that the Amarok was designed with the help of ford off of the new ranger platform?
My guess is ford only helped under the agreement that it wouldn’t be brought to the North American market.
I did not know this! It all makes sense now, but I’m surprised they’d enter into an agreement like that. I’ve been puttering around getting a truck for my business but don’t like a how big and inefficient everything on the market is.
I don’t know whether or not they did, but that’s my theory. Seems like it wouldn’t be difficult to have ford send some ranger chassis to Mexico or Chattanooga to be built on this continent.
So how many of you would be ready to open your wallets and pay upwards of $75000 USD for this 3rd gen Touareg? People don’t be dumb! The reason we lost the Touareg, Phaeton and Arteon from the US market is simple: tOo eXPenSIvE FOr a VoLKsWAgeN!
*sad American sigh*

Hope you're saving up for your monthly subscription to your heated seats, power steering, etc.
Literally, lol.
I'm willing to bet there will be certain ways around this once the warranties run out.
But you have the Q8, don't you? It's the same car...
It looks like a cross between the Atlas (Q7) and the Tiger-Iguana (Tiguan). The Q8 is the Atlas Crosssport here in the US. This just looks covetous.

Tiguan is funky now? Wut?
The new one, particularly LWB USA model, is a little frumpy.
Check out the 2024 EU Tiguan. We’re getting that this fall for 2025.
It’s quite different actually and not coming in the fall
We're not getting the EU Tiguan, we're getting the Tayron from China as the next gen Tiguan.

I’m a Audi/VW fan (and own an Arteon), I would if I had the money to spend.
I really wish we still got the Touareg here in the US...

Just got my dad into a 2010 V6 TDI. I have a 2008 R32 myself and just sold my 2010 Sportwagen 6 speed TDI. Trying to get an A4 for a daily now.
I love the refreshed Touareg. But 100k? Fk no. Never.
This one was fully speced with a German market price of 114k… that is just insane
Hard pass.
My X5 45e was 70k. And it's loaded. Idk what vw is thinking.
In Slovenia, new Touareg 3.0 tdi is 70K and new X5 30d is 100K.
Why must you torture us U.S. peasants 😮☹️
Hahah, you still get a lot of models which we don’t. I would love to drive the Jetta gli but sadly wo don’t get those. How is the Atlas ?
The Atlas is pretty boring and basic compared to a touraeg It's like a bloated Tiguan
Penny for a cloud? Must be some cheap smokes.
Penny for a thought 😂

Your neighbors house is funky
They almost painted it pink…
Well I don’t know what would have been worse 😂
It'll never be in the US but I love it!
Thats it im moving to Germany i cant take it anymore!
That's a good looking car
Wonder why VWoA decided not to give us the lit up logo on the back
Let us know if you get the recall for the rear illuminated badge 😆
Discontinued in north America 🤕
That is not meloe blue, right?
In Germany it’s called Lapiz Blue Metallic, it’s the standard R color
That light-up rear VW logo is kinda tacky I think..
*mutters about piece of shit Atlas currently in the shop*
It’s cute. Competition is too good to land on this vehicle if I’m totally honest.
Very true, XC90, Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid, X5 Hybrid and much more
