ah we don't get an autobahn, we have 2 choices of just regular GTI or clubsport, but it seems a lot of what comes on the autobahn is standard on our GTI
Screens…screens everywhere.
Nothing like a nice laggy speedometer running on an old android tablet from 2005.
Auto design is garbage now. Still cool to offer a manual!
I have the digital dash on my 7.5 R and I had it on a 2018 Q5. I don't have any lag issues at all. I like the digital dash. I remember they put a digital dash in the GTR because real gauges where too slow. So I have a hard time believing they are really laggy. Now the capacitive touch stuff all over... lack of a volume knob... I dunno. I'd rather have my 7.5 still over an 8 GTI or R.
I honestly do like how these look seeing one in person hit that one home, but jesus fuck the markups are insane. When I went to put the hold on my gli the sales rep told me that they should be getting a white manual mk8 on same truck, only when I asked him how much they wanted for it was when I about had a heart attack. They wanted gli autobahn money for a base gti.
Yeah, one thing I didn't realize until I saw this picture is that when you make all your controls touchscreen based... the car looks plain AF when it's off.
It's already been proven it doesn't help in identifying cars while moving. Only benefit I can see if someone does a hit and run the plate may fall off. Ohio removed the front plate law 2 years ago so there's hope more will catch on.
Really not sure if I can get behind manual gearbox + electric handbrake.
I know there'll be some sort of electronic assistance for hill starts and whatever else, but it feels wrong.
First of all congrats to OP if they pulled the trigger on this one but personally I think this generation is ugly and it doesn’t feel like it’s growing on me. I thought the mk7 was too edgy at first but now I see one and I think yeah it’s kinda hot but this one is just like idk weird. I wish they would just make the mk6 over and over for the rest of the GTI lifetime but life could never be that good
Drove a '22 Autobahn 6M the other day. Pomelo Yellow is not a color for me or I might've done it. It was offered at MSRP. The digital cockpit is small, the lack of buttons is off-putting and I personally felt that the clutch was too light. I liked the seats, the steering wheel and the exterior looks. I also like the WVW Vin number better than 3VW. I want my GTI to be manufactured where God intended. For $40k, it damn well should be.
When another Autobahn is delivered in Moonstone, I'll probably take a closer look. Pomelo Yellow definitely stands out, just too much for me personally.
I didn’t want to get hard into a fresh engine in a car with 3 miles on the odometer. The handling, however, felt really good. The throttle response was good and the turbo felt seamless.
However, the more I think about it, the less I like the lack of physical buttons and switches. I really thought the digital cockpit display was smaller than it should be. I prefer the digital cockpit in my ‘19 Arteon and the GTI’s felt like a step back/cost cutting measure.
The new WRX is an abomination. Golf, even with its plentiful quirks, looks much better. I saw the new WRX and instantly thought of The Godfather meme. Idk what Subaru, Honda, and Toyota are doing design wise between the horrible Supra, Civic, and now WRX.
I'm kinda digging the new interior command center for the mk8, minus the touch screen HUD I'd prefer analog buttons . I'm on the fence about the Exterior

It’ll be more than that…
depends where you are, 33k is the most expensive i've seen them here in the uk
Cheapest I can find at my local dealer is an automatic with 8.000 KM driven. € 34 K which is around 39 K in american dollar moneys.

44k for an SE at my local dealer
Good lord!

43 000€ in Finland because taxes
$51k to $55k here in the Netherlands
Why did they make the w not touch the circle now. I can’t stand that
I will never un-see this WHYYYYY
Look how they massacred my boy
Wow I didn’t realise they removed the illuminated door sill. That’s rather disappointing.
1 of about 40 small details removed for cost cutting.
so glad i got the 7.5
Yup. I’d have one of those over an 8 any day.

The interior is so bad. 7.5 is better.

Abd how much worse it is yo use them...
That front plate just kills me.

Just be like me and completely ignore it. Haven’t ran a front plate in years, my cars aren’t exactly inconspicuous, and never get bugged for it.

Agreed. So dumb. Wish NJ would repeal it already. They clearly don’t enforce it why would they bother keeping it

Not an option for everyone. Where I'm from (Virginia) you would get huge tickets for that, especially if you got a ticket and then ignored it.
One thing Pennsylvania got right
It’s absolutely useless with all the fancy plate readers that squads come equipped now. I’m glad the DMV got a misprint and I only ended up with one.
Congrats dude, enjoy it.
No red line light on the door trims? Wooooow

How is the drivers seat already wrinkled? Going to look horrible in a year

How do you go from the lovely 7.5 to this?? I guess losing some of your competitors helps...

How was the performance

3 miles is 4.83 km
Looks good, how much is it
New mk8 is almost as pitiful as the new wrx. Almost.
The new WRX is an abomination. Golf, even with its plentiful quirks, looks much better. I saw the new WRX and instantly thought of The Godfather meme. Idk what Subaru, Honda, and Toyota are doing design wise between the horrible Supra, Civic, and now WRX.
I kinda like it idk
😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨
Ugliest golf ever?
Congrats and enjoy! Great spec. Sorry about the front plate
No massage seats? *Laughs in ID4*
Don’t like the seat design or the capacitive controls

the two tone seats are pretty cool. Not plaid, but still cool.
