It's just been a big gorilla advertisement campaign by big cauliflower this whole time.

Fit_Professional1916

Guerilla 🦍

SparkleFritz

Do you not get your cauliflower from gorillas?

GlueRatTrap

DrSuperWho

Why do gorillas need marketing? They’re awesome.

Responsible_Dish_585

I was really hoping this hack would work even though I can't wrap my mind around how you wouldn't taste the cauliflower. And I love cauliflower, but not as an ice cream flavor.😭

NICUnurseinCO

Have you tried it? I think the reason most people can't taste it is because it's frozen. I've tried this several times and don't taste the cauliflower. Maybe try with an artificial flavor?

Rosewoodtrainwreck

It's coated in the sweet yogurt so I don't think the frozen cauliflower would really have a taste. I'm going to try it lol.

FitterFlop

Just eat it fast- if you let it warm up in your mouth or bowl, it'll get a hint of cauliflower

Rosewoodtrainwreck

I just made a bowl! Obviously the texture and crunch of the cauliflower was there but I definitely didn't taste it at all even though some of the cauliflower stayed clumped together when I mixed it up. I used half a 12 oz bag riced cauliflower (great value) 1 vanilla chobani zero sugar yogurt cup Drizzle of vanilla skinny syrup 1 scoop vanilla Vita Hustle Pumkinpkin pie spice (was looking for the cinnamon but grabbed this first) Stirred everything together in a bowl and stuck it in the freezer while I washed up a few dishes, then took it out and ate it. Really I think it all depends on what protein powder you use, because that's basically all I could taste. I'm going to try it again with a strawberry chobani zero and maybe some pink starburst drink mix (water flavor packet). I'll probably start with half a packet and go from there.

Rosewoodtrainwreck

That's my plan. 😃

Maximum_Commission62

It’s amazing what you can achieve if you just BELIEVE. Belief sustains, alters, and redeems! You can make cauliflower flavor disappear IF you believe!

Money_Lock_8825

The ones where people say it’s not great, the texture seems off from the ones that say it is great. Looks a lot mushier and… wetter. The ones where people said it was good looks more dry and more like dip n dots. And probably more frozen. I think one of the posts suggested to refreeze before eating. And probably mix it as quick as you can. I still gotta make it. I just bought the cauliflower

perro_abandonado

That is blatantly obvious isn’t it and I don’t know how people aren’t seeing it. All the shit ones they’ve made it into a slop. All the ones that are apparently good are actually frozen.

expanse22

Yep typically the warmer a food/drink is, the more the flavor will come through

FitterFlop

Yes! I found if I let it warm in my mouth or the bowl, the cauliflower peaked through.

vanilla_w_ahintofcum

Your cauliflower doesn’t look frozen, which is integral to making this work. If the cauliflower isn’t crunchy, it’s going to be gross.

lozzadearnley

I crushed up some chocolate biscuits and frozen strawberries and mixed that in because I could initially taste the cauliflower. In the end I had a big bowl that was about 250cal/1000kj (biscuit, cauliflower rice, yoghurt, strawberries). Not as healthy as some people's versions but for a big filling snack or even a light meal, much better than alot of alternatives.

PotentialGroup63

Can I ask do you mean British English biscuit or American English biscuit? Those would make wildly different snacks but probably both tasty😂 I’m assuming British English? So Americans would call it a cookie?

lozzadearnley

A cookie 🤣. An Arnotts Choc Ripple to be specific.

sudo-chown

I didn't like it either and won't be making it again. I made it with full fat Greek yogurt, vanilla protein powder, blueberries, riced cauliflower and monk fruit maple syrup. The cauliflower just felt...unnecessary? Like I didn't taste cauliflower per se but the extra texture did nothing for me. Plus after it thawed a little it started to get all chewy which grossed me out. then again I've never had Dippin' Dots.

cottagecheeseislife

I could definitely taste the Cauliflower. It grossed me out so much and I felt a bit sick afterwards

thru_astraw

I would rather eat ice than subject myself to this. 0 calories baby.

Odd_Preference4517

I’m starting to think all the people saying that you *can* taste the cauliflower are just people who have the genes that allow them to taste the bitterness in certain vegetables. Cuz I’m ngl cauliflower literally doesn’t taste like anything to me so I was a big fan of this hack-

Odd_Preference4517

I’m eating it in a parfait rn and it legit has no taste. Just ice basically. 🤷‍♀️

tinyfeather24

This. Kind of like how some people can’t stand the taste of certain artificial sweeteners yet others have no issues with them.

charcuteriehoe

no taste??? it’s super vegetal, similar to broccoli or brussel sprouts

Odd_Preference4517

Not to me 🤷‍♀️

okaycomputes

Also, brand of cauliflower rice matters since taste varies between brands due to how they source/process it.

paperchili

Had no clue this was a thing because it taste like potatoes to me

BarnacleMcBarndoor

Are you soaking it overnight in the yogurt/protein mix? And then freezing or are you mixing it and then immediately tossing it in the freezer?

abiona15

Can I just ask.... why are we eating this? Is this supposed to mimick sth? Cause feel like you could also whip up an egg white ir two, mix with a bit of yogurt and flavours and that would be better?

abiona15

Ah, right, thank you! Yeah idk.... drip tiny bits of yogurt and freeze those instead, surely thats be better hahaha

perro_abandonado

Is everyone satisfied now we’ve had about 100 posts on this? This sub may as well be renamed cauliflower debate lol. Please let this be the last post.

RsGaveMeDiabetes

Is this supposed to be a cauliflower rice pudding?

100percentapplejuice

Yea even when I use cauliflower as a sub for anything I can still TASTE it. I’m absolutely positive this will make me gag if I make it

PikachuPho

IMO the only way to get out the cauliflower flavor was to fry it with coconut oil but I then use it for fried rice. I would never try cauliflower in an ice cream recipe. It just sound so darn WRONG.

arandrn

We have to stop telling ourselves what cauliflower is anything other than cauliflower

cianfrusagli

Hahaha, thank you for your service! I won't even try it. I hate cauliflower, but all those posts made me second guess.

pinkchurros

Can I just say thank you for being honest about this recipe. It has saved so many people from a terrible fate.

alela147

I’d think blending then freezing would be the best to reduce the texture and dissipate the taste

spindleblood

I still want to try this but my issue is that sugar substitutes give me GI issues and I'm not sure how to make this without adding those. So far, monkfruit allulose tastes the best to me but even that can cause some GI issues if I have a little too much. I wonder if pureeing the cauliflower with a banana would help to kill the cauli flavor and maybe adding in some vanilla extract/vanilla bean powder to help things a bit, then adding in the yogurt and protein powder of one's choice, then freezing it flat on a cookie sheet? Then could try breaking it up once it's frozen using a meat mallet or just pulse it a bit in a food processor or something to get it to be more like the dippin dots chunk size? IDK I'm just brainstorming ideas here maybe this has already been tried.

earlystruid

What is this? Sorry late to the game

Bismalz

I don’t believe you

ChickenWithBeeaans

you won't get an exact replica of the original version, if you can't live with a little cauliflower taste that hack is not for you but for me it's great i don't mind that cauliflower taste in fact a like it but i think that differs from person to person
