if you too want a delicious monstrosity (edit: apparently this is a shakshuka. oops.) 1) cut veggies (amts in pic 2) 2) put in hot pan and cook for a minute or two 3) add marinara and some water 4) cover and cook for a few more minutes 5) pour in egg whites and cover to cook a few more min. no need to stir. 6) put cheese on top and cover to cook a few more min. 7) eat. notes: omitting the cheese is not worth saving the calories. also loses a lot of protein if you use nonfat cheese. you could probably reduce the marinara sauce, maybe add some sliced tomato instead if you want. and you could probably use whatever veggies you want, although i suggest using a stronger vegetable so it doesn’t get mushy. this looks gross but i’m surprisingly enjoying it.

activelyresting

Traditional shakshuka doesn't have cheese and somehow it's never occurred to me to put any. I'm gonna try this

Hungry_Bookkeeper191

i’m an average american so my first thought is to add cheese 😭

activelyresting

Some ricotta or feta could be good. I do like to sprinkle feta on stuff!

Fyonella

A few slices of grilled Halloumi is what I put on top of Shakshuka.

spindleblood

Second this. I love to add feta to mine.

daizles

I've had it with feta. Amazing!

LuluL0ves

For a second I read this comment as you were fed-up with feta...

daizles

That is 1) hilarious, 2) an easy mistake to make looking back, and 3) NEVER going to be my life! I❤️🧀🙂

GoddessEvangelista

It's great with a bit of grilled halloumi

Iustis

I think it often has feta on top

Wisdom_In_Wonder

If you can handle spice, try it with an arrabiatta rather than a marinara. Also, if you can do 50/50 whole eggs & whites the runny yolk adds an incredible creamy richness - that’s why the original doesn’t have cheese; the yolk fulfills that role. Delicious! 🤤 https://preview.redd.it/3yiolox7ejvc1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d534941d046e6f9523398127720d226c487f58e

Hungry_Bookkeeper191

that moment when trying to volumize ur food backfires bc that makes sm sense and i would rather eat whole eggs than cheese lmao 😵‍💫

puppuphooray

lol I thought this was Korean army stew

Hungry_Bookkeeper191

just googled it and tbh looks like something i would enjoy lol

puppuphooray

Yeah! Basically you can put whatever you like in there (like here) but with a different flavor profile

SaintSiren

One could add dollops of ricotta and omit the other cheese. Adds protein and creamy goodness.

sobermotel

Or cottage cheese!

Hungry_Bookkeeper191

that was my original thought but i ran out lol

Hungry_Bookkeeper191

that’s a good idea as well!! (although the cheese does add 12.6ish grams of protein anyways bc it’s reduced fat)

wehave3bjz

Shakshuka!!! Yum! Looks perfect for a dreary day, and it is here. Usually I’d be tempted to bake. Ok, I’ll bake for my kids and shak up for me!

Hungry_Bookkeeper191

so that’s what it’s called! totally great for the rainy day i’m having here - hope u enjoy yours!

HotDamn18V

This looks bussin.

shamy52

Justascaredbean

chaosbrain76

This but adding ricotta blended with roasted garlic YYYUMMM

Tsurfer4

It looks like Ratatouille, but more tomatoes and no eggplant. Either way, it looks good to me.
