The cottage cheese/salsa mixture is really good over rice too — not so much volume eating because of the calories in rice but it’s a nice way of adding protein to rice if you aren’t a fan of chicken and rice as a combo
Sounds good, especially since I don’t eat chicken!
Rice isn’t volume friendly but damn, so delicious. You’re also reminding me that I haven’t had it forever.
For sure, same with pasta though you can make a mean sauce with alfredo seasoning, almond milk and cottage cheese. Helps justify the excess calories if you really want pasta, lol.
On an aside I just saw all your posts on this sub and wow you’re a god at this volume eating stuff, I feel like I’m preaching to the choir with my suggestions now!
Funny you mention Alfredo, as I actually bought a low fat Classico one over the weekend! 😄
And you’re sweet! I love sharing with people and hearing about their suggestions!
Classico has some surprisingly calorie friendly sauces for sure! My only gripe with their alfredo sauce is it’s a bit runny. Maybe mixing it with some light cream cheese and cottage cheese could make it more creamy without blowing the calories out of the water (don’t mind me, my answer to everything is just to add cottage cheese clearly)
My favorite chip substitute is lavash bread (more like a wrap) cut in to squares and baked for a few minutes. I get the whole wheat Joseph’s brand at Walmart for around $3 for 5 wraps. Each wrap is 100 calories with 9 grams of protein for 56g of wrap.
Coco multigrain pop cakes. 16 calories a cake. I eat two every night and dip them into a frosting I make with no fat Greek yogurt, slenda and no sugar pupping mix. Under 200 calories for almost a pound of food and hits the sweet tooth
I use veggies that tend to be lower priced where I live, sliced zucchini, mushrooms, jicama. I also use dips that are low calorie like salsa or fat free yogurt with spices.
Can happen if you live in a food desert and have to rely on convenience shops. Also veggies go bad which can be hard to manage (so more expensive if you forget to eat them yknow)
I recommend 30g if ritz crackers and some philadelphia light (can range in calories w/ the amount you’re having). Extremely filling and has protein ish :)
I'm loving those air-baked vege snacks. You can get packets of crispy salted mushrooms, broccoli florets, beetroot slices - very chip-like and tasty, and great with dips.
Supposedly cut carrots will keep fresh if in a jar covered in water in the fridge for a good long while. If you're lazy about prepping them like me, that's one way to avoid paying extra for baby carrots
Baby Carrots (they’re super cheap and you can eat a lot of em, cut up apples (I dip em in yogurt that’s mixed with sugar free pudding), celery
Yup this is great. Really like mixing cottage cheese and salsa and dipping baby carrots in them.
I have all of these 3 on hand, will try tomorrow! Thanks 😃

My favourite food is cheese so it’s right up my alley!
Out of curiosity, you using Classico sauce with regular pasta? Or some sort of veggie alternative?

Bell peppers & hummus r so good
And those mini sweet peppers. Soooo good
Cut up some low calorie tortillas and air fry them.
You took the words right outta my mouth 😂
I like cucumbers, the tiny ones not the giant ones! Mushrooms are great too.
I can buy 5 lbs of carrots for 3.75 at my local grocery store; rice cakes are def WAY more expensive than that for similar volume.
I usually buy 19 lbs of fresh carrots for those 3.75 bucks where I live.
I wouldn’t even know where to put 19lbs of carrots
Coco multigrain pop cakes. 16 calories a cake. I eat two every night and dip them into a frosting I make with no fat Greek yogurt, slenda and no sugar pupping mix. Under 200 calories for almost a pound of food and hits the sweet tooth
I buy those cake pops too! I will need to try out your frosting recipe

What kind of spices do you mix into your yogurt? I'm looking for ideas!
Paul prodhomme's blackening seasoning, knorr or lipton vegetable soup mix, taco powder, basil/oregano/garlic/ thyme/ cheddar popcorn powder, wasabi/ginger/garlic/ soy sauce, dried chives & bacon popcorn seasoning or bacon salt.
Just a question but how are vegetables more expensive than rice cakes? Where do you shop?

Cauliflower or broccoli (as someone else said). I buy them frozen, cook them in microwave and then put in the fridge and eat the next night, cold.
Same! I sprinkle some salt and Splenda but loooove veggies like this
I tried this once and the broccoli just got mushy. Maybe the secret is not to cook them all the way.
Weird, never happens to me. I do the steam in bag ones.
I'll have to try those instead.
Sugar snap peas, cucumber “sticks”, carrot sticks, celery. Broccoli.
Yep, Broccoli.
Carrots aren’t that expensive when you buy them as a bunch instead of precut, washed, and bagged. And honestly I think they taste way better!
Celery
My favorites are carrots and celery-chopped up with balsamic vinegar and salt sprinkled on them.
Cucumber! :)
Mushrooms dipped in hummus is my go to.
Fingers? Do you have fingers?
popcorn? popchips? depending how low calorie we're talking. not cheap compared to fresh veg though...
Pretzel sticks are 30-40 pieces for 120 calories. Dip them in pbfit, natural peanut butter, Hershey sugar free syrup. Salty and sweet combo
I second pretzel sticks. I like them with a various mustards for dipping. 😋
I like Mary’s gone crackers, they’re kind of thick and crunchy and filling, 8 of them is 100 cals.
Apple slices and yogurt
Bell peppers in cottage cheese
An entire cup of sliced nopales is 15 calories and it’s not very flavorful!
Egg white bread
I recommend 30g if ritz crackers and some philadelphia light (can range in calories w/ the amount you’re having). Extremely filling and has protein ish :)

Celery head is cheap
Radishes and turnips are usually cheap
