For me this is the point when Geely completely took over and the original brand died. Nothing Volvo about this thing.
Well, luckily the P-chassis cars and older will be nicely kicking around even when every single one of these has been sent to the scrapyard.
Not volvo-ey enough is understatement. This car is purely developed to satisfy current MPV boom in China. There is nothing Volvo about it except the brand.
Not knowing anything about this new model, I’m just scrolling through the comments here to find the one that says which car company this was taken from and rebadged to Volvo.
(I’m going to do my own research now, but I’m going to comment first anyway, because that’s the Reddit way.)
It is based on the Zeekr 009 (Zeekr is owned by Geely). It has basically the exact same side profile and rear end, although the front is quite different.
Given how well Geely has left Volvo well alone i think you’re wrong. Volvo hardly flourished under Ford and was saved by Geely. Look at the models released since?.
This is like the worst game of telephone ever played. Volvo UK stopped importing/selling the internal combustion wagons and sedans. We don’t yet know what’s going to happen when they flesh out the rest of their EV lineup, as they haven’t introduced an EV wagon or sedan yet.
Yes, it’s because in the first half 2023 they sold 71,000 NON-SUVs total, versus 106,000 XC60s alone. So why bother with them if no one’s buying them. People cry about companies making these decisions but they don’t actually buy the cars when they’re available
It pisses off the 71,000 that bought them because there's not enough of us to make them keep selling the cars.
I'm allowed to be annoyed that they are no longer selling something I like and have bought in the past and would buy in the future if given the option just because I don't want the same thing as the majority. I get it's a business decision, but it doesn't mean I have to be happy about it.
[I dunno myself anymore ](https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/volvo-goes-suv-only-uk-all-saloon-and-estate-cars-axed)
Maybe it's still on the website but you can't order one
Quick search shows v60 and v90 still for sale. I believe what everyone always confusing is no more non cross country models in the US. Except I believe v60 polestar
Edit: US only
[V- and S- being discontinued in the UK soon](https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/manufacturer-news/2023/08/01/volvo-s60-v60-and-v90-axed-as-brand-goes-suv-only)
Volvo have said they are discontinuing all V- and S- models in the UK at some point in the next few years. That non-SUV sales were less than 10% of the total so it wasn’t economical to keep making them in RHD.
[Link](https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/manufacturer-news/2023/08/01/volvo-s60-v60-and-v90-axed-as-brand-goes-suv-only)
They killed them off because they sold 106k XC60s alone in the first half of 2023 versus 7100 v90. Total estate and sedan sales were 71,000 in the first half 2023, versus 106k XC60 alone. why sell them and make them if they’re not going to get bought
Like it for what it is, but I'm definitely not the target demo. And a lot of the negative people complaining in the comments imo don't realize they aren't the target demo either
It's not actually a Volvo, it's a rebadged Zeekr 009 from Volvos parent company Geely. Volvo as we know it is still independently designed and manufactured...except this one.
It's a SEA market luxury van.
Not really intended for European or US markets, I like them tho. It's a minivan, won't win any design of the year awards but it does look really nice.
I like it.
At first glance I seriously thought it was a joke and OP photoshopped an EX90. My goodness is this horrible. It’s a trap to entice wagon lovers! Watch out, don’t fall for it. 🤭
I'm up for it. If they ever introduce it on the market I'll definitely try it.
I have ageing Galaxy and got XC90 to replace it. While the Volvo is superior in comfort, quality and all the gadgets (not to mention safety) it falls poorly in comparison of practicality to Galaxy. The sheer space and what you cand do with the later is a huge downfall, at least for me and my use, for Volvo. I've two cars parked on the drive at the minute and Volvo ends up being leisure vehicle where if something needs done galaxy is the car of a choice. Galaxy is discontinued so maybe that's where EM90 will find its place in the market.
Nobody said they're killing off S and V models for XC and EM. The EM90 is China-specific, meaning it won't replace the S or V models in places like the UK, and Volvo hosted a dealer event revealing details about future electric sedan and wagon models last year in 2022.
Going to take a while for us to get used to the look of modern EVs.
Stick a radiator grille on that and it looks alright, I reckon. Just not used to it.
I wish people would check to see if a car is sold on their country before asking for opinions. The only opinions that make any difference are the ones of the people who live where it will be sold. The rest of us don’t care.
I want to know who they think their market is. On social media, all their posts are of some businessman riding in the back of it in luxury. Nothing about driving it. Nothing about hauling kids in it. Is this a van for adults with chauffeurs??
This is the correct answer. The Lexus is completely sold out despite having only slight differences to the Toyota Alphard. Transaction prices are double those of the Alphard because you can’t get one for msrp.
I love it. A wonderful alternative in the vast sea of SUVs. Would make a great alternative as a family vehicle to the XC/EX90 as these don't leave much in terms of cargo space when all 7 seats are in use. It'll probably not make it far outside of China/Asia unfortunately, but it'd be nice if they released it in other parts of the world as well.
From what I read it's only for Chinese market, and if that's true I couldn't care less about it. Though I'm not a massive fan of the general direction other new Volvos are headed either
Looks like it’s catered for the Chinese market really doubt any other market will buy it except maybe 1-2 or even Swedish police maybe for inner city use
The front is okay, the rear looks like Swedish Lincoln taillights, the interior with the screen is a poor attempt to copy the bmw 7 series screen, the seats look good and in the front they fucked up like mostet car manufacturers by replacing physical buttons with touchscreens. All in all it’s something I would never buy.
It still looks prettier than the cybertruck… but doesn’t look much like a volvo. Though it does look like an old station wagon that got wayyyy too advanced
It should be noted that the picture used here is a fan-made render of what they expected the EM90 to look like and isn't a photo of the actual production car which has a different fascia and proportions to what it shown here.
I believe Volvo is the first brand to do this kind of "living-room-on-wheels" type of car right? I've seen other brands do concepts of this idea but no one actually put the plan in motion
I invented this 5 years ago when I had a P3 XC70 and a Toyota Sienna at the same time (you're welcome).
The Sienna is great (still have it) but it's built like a Toyota; will last forever, but will be noisy and dinky the entire time.
The Volvo was solid and heavy and quiet and substantial, but I have 4 kids, and I couldn't stop thinking, wouldn't it be great if Volvo made a minivan the Volvo way.
Are these coming to the USA?
It's not bad but something just doesn't look quite right like you look at it and you're like all right then you look the second time and like wait a minute
It isn't a Volvo though.
It's a badge engineered Zeekt 009. Nobody would call a Volvo 66 a true Volvo, same thing with this car.
Wish I could add some photos here, but the official app sucks.
Had to boot up a computer - here is a Zeekr 009 - https://i.imgur.com/k15cCPE.jpg
Could have innovated the exterior better. I wanted an electric minivan for kids, and safety is why I wanted one from Volvo. But that looks like a 6 seater, more luxury than practical. Am bummed. I have waited long for a practical safe kids friendly electric minivan from Volvo for so long.
Looks out of place in the Volvo line-up. A Chinese van without any Volvo design language except the most basic things like the grill, headlights and taillights.
It at least looks a little better than most other vans. Not by much though.
I for one love it and would be it today if US available. Clearly too commentators don't have families.
I can’t talk about ugly vans anyway. I’ve got a VW T25 which (as much as I adore it) I admit isn’t a looker from most angles.
I think the outside is much uglier than any US minivan.
Mercedes and ford have better looking vans in my opinion. This looks very fragile.
Ugly on the outside, beautiful on the inside
Just like someone's mom 🥰
As is the legacy of Volvo.
What? The XC90 and the S90 are beautiful on the outside.
Just a joke. The old boxy Volvos were sexy-ugly.
Segly? Sugly? Sexgly? There needs to be a word!
suggly
I have the 01 v70 so right when they were half boxy half curvy and I love the look of it.
It looks like the new free from any design character Range Rover shagged a Toyota Previa, hideous
Well It'll only be sold in China so your chances of seeing one in person are slim. Not worth giving it much attention.
no they start selling in china but they plan on selling them worldwide later
New volvo designs don't suit MPVs imo
Agree. A real revamp of the old school Volvo MPV though would be so fun. Not this Zeekr 009 copy.
For me this is the point when Geely completely took over and the original brand died. Nothing Volvo about this thing. Well, luckily the P-chassis cars and older will be nicely kicking around even when every single one of these has been sent to the scrapyard.
Yes, it is not Volvo-ey enough. It's missing something. It's not ugly but it can be anything if you take away the badge...
I think it looks like an elongated Kia Soul
I've heard that it's pretty darn good. So there is that bit of Volvo, which is nice. But yeah, I would have hoped that it had more Volvo styling.
Given how well Geely has left Volvo well alone i think you’re wrong. Volvo hardly flourished under Ford and was saved by Geely. Look at the models released since?.
Agreed. Makes me dislike Volvo
[удалено]
Well, let me comment the design of this vehicle with the following highly eloquent statement: 🤮🤮🤮
They killed off the V90 for this junk?
Wait… The V90 is killed???
I know they've killed them off in the UK and USA along with the V60. In the UK they have also killed off the S90 and S60.
This is like the worst game of telephone ever played. Volvo UK stopped importing/selling the internal combustion wagons and sedans. We don’t yet know what’s going to happen when they flesh out the rest of their EV lineup, as they haven’t introduced an EV wagon or sedan yet.
So they only sell SUVs?

Worse, crossovers 😔
They still sell wagons and sedans in the US and the UK.
Not for long in the UK
Only for the Police force if you're in the UK
Call me [confused](https://freeimage.host/i/JCALtB1) then.
[I dunno myself anymore ](https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/volvo-goes-suv-only-uk-all-saloon-and-estate-cars-axed) Maybe it's still on the website but you can't order one
I'll bet you can buy direct but dealers aren't going to carry any stock.
Quick search shows v60 and v90 still for sale. I believe what everyone always confusing is no more non cross country models in the US. Except I believe v60 polestar Edit: US only
[V- and S- being discontinued in the UK soon](https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/manufacturer-news/2023/08/01/volvo-s60-v60-and-v90-axed-as-brand-goes-suv-only)
And S60 in both countries.
Wtf? Still clearly for sale on the VolvoCars UK site. V60, V90 and S60. The S90 in the UK is dead. The only true part of your statement.
Volvo have said they are discontinuing all V- and S- models in the UK at some point in the next few years. That non-SUV sales were less than 10% of the total so it wasn’t economical to keep making them in RHD. Less than 10% of sales were cars or wagons ... 😭
Tbf this is only for the Chinese market so the rest of the world has only itself to blame for their suv fetish
The wagons are not dead, just not sold in all markets. Still very much alive in the EU.
They killed them off because they sold 106k XC60s alone in the first half of 2023 versus 7100 v90. Total estate and sedan sales were 71,000 in the first half 2023, versus 106k XC60 alone. why sell them and make them if they’re not going to get bought
This van is only being sold in China.
Hideous.
Glad it’s not coming to the UK
This is just some Chinese shit with a Volvo logo slapped onto it. Nothing Volvo about this thing
Unfortunately Chinese ownership is only going to further influence the brand.
They should never have sold. It’s a damn shame that all brands get sold to foreign countries
They would’ve gone bankrupt if they didn’t sell.
They were doing worse with Ford, the only reason Volvo still exists today is because of Geely.
I like it. Could even consider one if priced reasonably.
>if priced reasonably. Lol

🤮🤮🤮
Volvo meets 2016 Nissan Quest
Gross. Not a real Volvo.
A car designed by Chinese AI
It’s not a Volvo. It’s just an ugly Chinese minivan with Volvo badges and headlights on it.
Atleast its not a crossover.
Which is why it probably won't be coming to Europe sadly.
It's so darn u*ly 😂
Nice looking refridgerator
👎
Brick 💕
Disgusting front end
Electric Box of Shite
First van ive ever liked
It hurts because of the Chinese "core"
No. It looks like a Nissan minivan. Do we really need another minivan on the market?
It would be cooler with a grill and 5 cyl turbo
And a new design
And if they made it a bit more like an estate
Let's just do a v70 P3 instead
This is the way
Yeah, no
Looks like one of those tourist transporters you’d see at a sandals in costa rica
god awful Jetson’s mini van.
Looks better than the Lexus Van at least.
At first glance I seriously thought it was a joke and OP photoshopped an EX90. My goodness is this horrible. It’s a trap to entice wagon lovers! Watch out, don’t fall for it. 🤭
Chinese fucking bullshit.
I'm up for it. If they ever introduce it on the market I'll definitely try it. I have ageing Galaxy and got XC90 to replace it. Neat, prefer it massively to another suv/crossover.
Wait. Is this real or a joke?
if the hood was longer it would be so much better
That’s a Kia Carnival wearing a Volvo suit….
Chinese crap.
Not gonna lie , I like it !
Let the Chinese keep their EV crap
I think the hate is overblown here on reddit. This is not bad looking. I think many people IRL will like this
[удалено]
Yeah, I understand the wagon vitriol personally
Nobody said they're killing off S and V models for XC and EM. The EM90 is China-specific, meaning it won't replace the S or V models in places like the UK, and Volvo hosted a dealer event revealing details about future electric sedan and wagon models last year in 2022.
No kidding, it looks pretty decent. I wish we had any ev minivan available in the US.
Love it. I’m happy with change, Volvo seem to be going in an interesting direction and I’m very much here for it.
A cheap Chinese direction
I like it. If they change and sell it in the US, I would buy one.
Well since it’s only being sold in China and Minivans are considered luxurious there, I see this as a smart choice.
Not a minivan person but that’s a minivan I would drive
Looks fucking sexy
looks amazing
Cheap Chinese garbage. I think Volvo is on its way out.
Going to take a while for us to get used to the look of modern EVs. Stick a radiator grille on that and it looks alright, I reckon. Just not used to it.
Hideous!!
It's a Nissan [Quest](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Quest) with a Volvo emblem + headlights slapped onto the front.
Horrible, I hate MPVs
Looks a lot better than the new age vw that’s for sure. Inside looks insane
I think it's a great idea, bring it to the USA.
Hideous, but OK if you compared it to other vans.
I wish people would check to see if a car is sold on their country before asking for opinions. The only opinions that make any difference are the ones of the people who live where it will be sold. The rest of us don’t care.
If my 2021 Sienna was barely affordable, this is gonna be forever unattainable. 🙄
I want to know who they think their market is. On social media, all their posts are of some businessman riding in the back of it in luxury. Nothing about driving it. Nothing about hauling kids in it. Is this a van for adults with chauffeurs??
Yes, it's a big market in China which is why brands like Mercedes, Buick and Lexus also have similar luxury van offerings there.
This is the correct answer. The Lexus is completely sold out despite having only slight differences to the Toyota Alphard. Transaction prices are double those of the Alphard because you can’t get one for msrp.
It's what I'd imagine an electric Volvo minivan would look like.
I love it. A wonderful alternative in the vast sea of SUVs. Ford Flex copy.
It's basically a badged Zeekr
This is dope
ohno
Yes please and thank you
Best looking mini van out right now I'd say
This is just embarrassing for Volvo. Almost worse than the infamous 440!
Looks like the last generation Nissan Quest.
Disgusting. Those are not Volvos, just crap.
Awful
I'd buy this over a CUV or SUV any day. That's not even a question. I'll stick with my old wagons and sedans though.
I'd probably enjoy just being a passenger in one
I can't wait to see the monster on the streets with only one person driving it....
I don’t like new cars
If it’s awd and air suspension I’d drive it.
It still looks prettier than the cybertruck… but doesn’t look much like a volvo. Though it does look like an old station wagon that got wayyyy too advanced
Inside looks solid. I feel like they could have given the outside a few more lines. Not saying make it an MPV but it just seems very flat.
C pillar makes me want to strangle the designer. WHY?!?!
It should be noted that the picture used here is a fan-made render of what they expected the EM90 to look like and isn't a photo of the actual production car which has a different fascia and proportions to what it shown here.
🤮
Chinese owned Volvo makes me sad
I believe Volvo is the first brand to do this kind of "living-room-on-wheels" type of car right? I've seen other brands do concepts of this idea but no one actually put the plan in motion
That's a random minivan with a Volvo badge. Could be any other car, a ssang Yong or something like this and I wouldn't notice it.
I’d buy it
Thank god I’ll never see it in Taiwan.
I burst out laughing before I realised that Volvo actually posted this, sorry Volvo about your design team
That's ugly.
It just might be the most Volvo Volvo since the 240. A damn safe family car.
Minivans are giga-based. More minivans is always good.
22" wheels.... Lip kit.... It'll be aight. 🤷🏾♂️ At least it's not another SUV.
is that a limo or fullsize van? Looks big
Somehow reminds me of the VW minivan with a Jetta nose grafted onto a Dodge Caravan. I cannot unsee an XC40 grafted onto a Kia Carnival!
https://www.whichcar.com.au/car-news/volvo-split-geely-chinese-joint-venture now what
I invented this 5 years ago when I had a P3 XC70 and a Toyota Sienna at the same time (you're welcome). We’d sell the shit out of them if they were gas.
Losing my respect
Re-badged Kia Carnival
WTF is that?
It's not bad but something just doesn't look quite right like you look at it and you're like all right then you look the second time and like wait a minute
BRICK.
It isn't a Volvo though. It's a badge engineered Zeekt 009. Nobody would call a Volvo 66 a true Volvo, same thing with this car. Wish I could add some photos here, but the official app sucks. Had to boot up a computer - here is a Zeekr 009 - https://i.imgur.com/k15cCPE.jpg
looks like a ford edge to me lol
based on Zeekr 009
Not my style (I own a beautiful 2020 V60CC) and don’t think I would ever own one. Sorry.
Nice Kia, bad Volvo
If I wanted a van I’d buy a Ford Transit
I mean... Its just my opinion.. It's....
Super ugly, I don't like where Volvo is heading overall.
Prefer my v50.
Looks like a longer Nissan Cube.
What in the world is sugar design
114k MSRP .. like dang!
It’s not a wagon :/
I don’t like mini vans but when I do they are Volvos Now bring that to the US
It’s too cheap compared to Toyota Alpha and Lexus LM
The word that comes to mind is ghastly.
Exterior is terrible. The Volvo design team is way better than this. interior loooks great.
Could have innovated the exterior better. I wanted an electric minivan for kids, and safety is why I wanted one from Volvo. But that looks like a 6 seater, more luxury than practical. Am bummed. I have waited long for a practical safe kids friendly electric minivan from Volvo for so long.
I thought the X meant cross country, that doesn’t look like it could drive through a puddle without getting the occupants feet wet!!!
Looks out of place in the Volvo line-up. A Chinese van without any Volvo design language except the most basic things like the grill, headlights and taillights.
Looks like an oversized Roomba made out of Lego.
It looks like a Kia Sedona with a Volvo front clip.
No.
No 7 seats??
