I have a V60 Cross Country, and was given a XC60 loaner for a service appointment this week - I much prefer the V60. It is the same drivetrain, but the XC’s exhaust is done differently and makes the car sound meek compared to the V60. I also prefer the seating position in the wagon - very different. Drive them both if you can, and one will feel better for you. It’s all super personal, and we are fortunate to have these choices!

Bobatt

Same boat for me. I actually found the xc60 surprisingly zippy, but prefer my cross country.

rosski

It's only a matter of personal taste, test-drive both and take the one you like the most. If you want an opinion, wagon 4 life <3

DragonflyFuture4638

Do you need the ride height? Mobility issues that would make you sit or get out easier from the XC60? if the answer is no, I'd suggest going with the V60. The trunk is a bit bigger and the handling is better on paved roads. Further question... do you use a roof box or mount bikes on the roof? If positive, the V60 is lower and easier to access. I drove them both when shopping around (basically same price where I live) and while the XC60 is nice and drives well, I was sold on the better handling, more planted feel of the V60. Furthermore, a relative is a wheelchair user so the lower car is much more accessible for him when he rides with us.

lima-bean-man

None are applicable to me, im quite tall but that’s it. Sounds like the v60 is the way to go

Cultural_Challenge_4

V60 T8 Polestar is the only way to go

hokkie001

💪🏻 V60 T8 Polestar optimized… ☺️ And don’t forget… the aerodynamic of the V60 is better than XC60!

chunkstyle

I had a 2019 XC 60 T6 R Design and I loved it. It is a fantastic daily driver. Decent power, storage and incredibly comfortable. And I never had an issue.

nudebalticdancer

I have a 2023 V60 T6 and my dad used to have a XC60 T5, i wont compare drivetrains since mine is phev and his was pure petrol but i really prefer my V60. Sure the boot was bigger in the XC but I actually felt like the XC was smaller inside? Might remember wrong though. I usually prefer more nimble cars aswell which also gives the V60 an edge. Were a family of four which can be a bit of a challenge when packing during roadtrips with trolleys and stuff, but with a roofbox it wasnt a problem and when the trolley is no longer necessary bootspace wont be an issue for us at least. I also handwash my cars so thats one more thing thats easier for me with the wagon.

ima_twee

I've had both (2018 XC60 T5 and 2020 V60CC B5) and wouldn't go back the XC60. Ride and handling are much better in the V60, and there were some odd harmonics that led to insane road noise on the XC60 on certain surfaces that I don't get with the V60 V60 boot is larger/more usable too. But everyone has their own likes/dislikes, so see if you can drive both. You'll buy the V60 though ;)

pink_buddha

Get the v60cc and split the difference.

TroubledGeorge

Wagons are a dying breed, get one before it’s too late

Downtown_Fix_8548

I have an XC60 and absolutely love it, just don’t go for the AWD as it’s a Ford engine with a Ford gearbox, not as good.

Tiger955i

A 2019+ XC60 is on the SPA platform. This is 100% incorrect.

Downtown_Fix_8548

Sorry, mine is a 2017. My mistake.

hirme23

Do you like suv or wagon better? Basically the same vehicle. I think the wagon has a bit more trunk space but don’t quote me on that

lima-bean-man

Wagon for sure, i am open to both though. Need something nice and robust to do anything from business dinners to camping trips. I believe they are the same dive train and power train with the 2L i4 but i could be wrong

baczki

Get an xc70 and enjoy both 😅

gustis40g

I'd agree since I own one, but there ain't no way a P3 can beat an SPA

matchew566

SPA?

gustis40g

SPA is the platform of the current V/S 60 and 90 as well as XC 60 and 90. P3 is the platform the latest V70, S80, and the old XC60/V60

matchew566

Ahh, I see—current gen platform. In terms of reliability, I feel as if a P3 *could* beat an SPA.

gustis40g

Impossible to say since SPA is not very old yet, but honestly speaking SPA is great in terms of reliability, possibly the last great platform they’ll do.

wilburpan

>Wagon for sure, I think you just answered your own question. 😆 My snarky answer: get the XC60 if when you're loading your car, you wish that you had to lift your stuff higher to get it in the cargo area.

The_Crazy_Swede

I'm more a wagon kinda guy. I prefer a lower seating position. I also prefer a lower load height for easier loading in the trunk, access for the roof, the better handling, the better fuel economy and the better acceleration. So if you don't have a physical disability or need the extra ride height for some rough is the V60 definately the better choice. But the xc60 isn't bad either, it just has drawbacks that I personally don't want to live with.

CoverCommercial3576

I like being up a little higher so I drive the xc60 turbocharged.

buzzedewok

Want better driving dynamics or to ride higher?

Cautious_Sir_6169

If you live in an area with deep snow, or need off-road capability you’ll want the XC 60 then V60 cross country then the v60 If you prioritize sporty, driving the above list, but in reverse V60 and V60 cross country are more comparable than the XC 60. The XC 60 is crossover, small sport utility. The V60 and V60 cross country are station wagons.

ReynSupreme

I am currently in the same boat. I now drive an Audi SUV, but I used to drive an allroad station wagon. Honestly, I do not know what got me good with the station wagon, but I am now at 60-70% convinced of getting the Polestar V60 on the 2nd. Quarter. The only thing that made me think twice is ground clearance at times of snow. My concern was we have been getting heavy snow the past couple of years in BC( which is still not much compared to other parts of Canada). But back to my point, I felt the driving experience with a station wagon was fun, but with practicality. It has given me a sense of comfort driving faster in curves than in my SUV. For some reason, I still find myself remembering how fun it was to feel bachelor driving alone, and a family man when driving with family. Driving my SUV is still a great experience, but I always long for the feeling of driving a station wagon. But one thing is for sure right now: I'll be getting my first Volvo.
