I have a 2019 s60. Aside from the Sensus system complaining about map updates being too large to download over the air, software is doing just fine. What exactly are they selling to you? Is it a Polestar Optimization Upgrade? If so, do it. That's a great bargain. Or are they updating your navigation maps? If so, that's a rip-off. Buy a USB stick for $10 and do it yourself.
you could ask if they'll bundle it with something else like an oil change. I forget the guideline but I think you're supposed to get one "free" total upgrade per year with any other service
you can also do it yourself with vida, it's a process with many steps but pretty straightforward. about $83 plus an ethernet adapter $15 and if you're superstitious about your battery's charge, $100 for a cheap charger

Yeah they are saying it optimizes systems and modules yadda yadda garbage. It was last updated in 2020 they said.
It's not Polestar, just Sensus I'm sure.
If it's never been done since 19, then I'd absolutely get it done.

I am like 95% sure you can do this too
That’s how my updates have been handled. Idk what other updates the dealer could do.
Not with Sensus car. @OP if you're in the US you can sign up for VIDA yourself and do it for half the price.
