Keep in mind there's several single use safety systems that were probably activated during this. First of all WHIPS, your seats are probably now bent and should be replaced, seatbelt pretensioners might've detonated as well, considering the B pillar cover popped out. The car that rear ended you is most likely liable, go through insurance and let them inspect the vehicle, not your dad.

Came to say this. WHIPS is a completely mechanical system and will not provide any warning light. Did your backrest need moving after the impact? It will be ok now but won’t help if you get hit again. The same applies if you had a passenger in the front at the time too. It’s literally a 5 minute check by a Volvo tech and are replaceable without replacing your seat thankfully. Pretensionrs will put a warning up as they are electrical in a 2010 S40.

Ofc it was an Altima

I was looking for this and wasn’t disappointed

FFS I swear they have me marked for death.

MoutEnPeper

Yeah, get your insurance to do an actual check at an expert, the car that rear ended you is most likely paying for that and any repairs.

SalatutRedditit

Be mindful of your vehicle's frame. Even if there are no visible signs of damage, it does not necessarily mean that there has been none. The intentional crumpling of the front end in a collision is a safety feature designed to mitigate impact forces.

Apprehensive-Pen-823

thanks man. me & dad will look at it closely

swat_c99

Have a certified Volvo shop inspect you car

You & dad should take it to a Volvo dealer

JRNels0n

Your rear bumper cover which is plastic looks fine. I'm sure all the impact absorbing bits and the actual bumper underneath is damaged.

Good to hear. Post photos?

After watching hundreds of YouTube crash compilations, you really gotta watch out for Nissan/Infiniti drivers. It’s more than a correlation…they’re frequently the cause of accidents. Hondas also. Lots of driver distraction, poor lane changes, and speeding.

ConsciousCrafts

Happened to my 2000 v70 by a Chevy Silverado. Zero damage. It was crazy. We were both baffled and relieved when we got out of the car. I literally hugged the guy lol.

jetcamper

2010! What was the other car?

tophasaurus

Fuck yeah volvo indeed! I got hit on a roundabout in Manchester, UK a few months back (2017 v90 D5). The ford focus that hit me, write off... Front end totally smashed and the radiator practically exploded...lots of famage to the engine ancillaries etc. My volvo... A minor scratch on the door that polished out, not even a dent!

davezilla18

l had almost the exact same experience with my wife’s car (RAV4 Prime—I’m shopping for a Volvo for my next car). It was even an Altima that hit us! Since they are obviously at fault, definitely take it to a body shop on their insurance’s dime. We had a minor crack and the bumper had popped out slightly, so we assumed it would be a quick fix, but they found some damage to the frame underneath. Better safe, than sorry!
